two: spilt ice cream

seong y/n and her little brother jungwon are sent back to the town in which they were raised to spend time with their dad. along the way they make friends, enemies turned friends, and even enemies turned lovers. (loosely ib the last song(2010))

pairing: jay x fem! reader

everyone had finished eating and mr. seong had brought out tubs of ice cream. niki and jungwon had decided to go and swim but the older kids along with hiyyih and yunjin we're eating and talking amongst themselves.

the two younger girls were asking y/n about her blog and the writing she did. she talked to them about her past with anxiety and how writing and talking to her subscribers about their own experiences helped her.

after a couple minutes, y/n decided to get rid of her bowl of half melted ice cream. "here. i'm gonna go in real quick. I'll take your bowls!" she smiled. she balanced their bowls and held hers in her hand, as she made her way towards the door she noticed jay.

he was wearing a white polo and a pair of khaki shorts, accompanied with a gold chain and prada sunglasses. to this y/n rolled her eyes. it's a small backyard get together why do you need to dress up like that. it was something small that bothered her but it bothered her nonetheless.

y/n took note of her shoe being untied and she decided to take advantage of this. as she approached him she stepped on the lace and as she tripped her and the two stacked bowls fell onto the floor while her bowl fell onto the nape of jay's neck then down to the floor before it dripped down to his shirt.

"shit!" he yelled jumping out of his seat. the younger girls gasped, sunoo and lily rushed to y/n’s side but yoon, ningning, and all of the boys laughed at the incident.

"i’m okay guys, i've tripped before." y/n laughed. "i’m sorry jay! do you wanna borrow a shirt?" at this point mr. seong ran back outside due to the commotion. "everything okay?" he questioned. "oh jay come in, lets get you a shirt!" he spoke after looking at y/n to make sure she was fine.

to y/n it seemed like her dad just completely dismissed her. lily noticed the change in her expression and sighed "go, i'll clean this up." her and sunoo gathered the trash and cleaned up the mess as the rest of the group went to join niki and jungwon.

in her room y/n sat in front of her vanity crying, it was something so harmless but seeing how much her dad cares for these boys made her feel left out. why, for so many years did she not feel the same warmth and love that they felt from him?

y/n walked into the school and marched into the building. she was annoyed at her brother and was worried that the other kid’s parents wouldn’t take her seriously.

“hi honey, how can i help you?” the receptionist asked as y/n walked through the office door. “i’m here for my younger brother, jungwon seong?” she half smiled as the smile on the receptionist’s face dropped. “oh. right this way!” as she stood to walk y/n back to the conference room she shot a look at the other receptionist and y/n just knew that they were judging her.

“principal james, this is mr. seong’s guardian.” the lady smiled, introducing y/n to the woman who sat at the end of the table. “y/n seong, i’m jungwon’s older sister.” she grinned shaking the woman’s hand. “principal addison james, sorry to meet you under these circumstances. this is niki and his guardian jay park.” she responded introducing the two sitting across from her brother.

the older of the two gave her a glare in which she quickly returned along with an eye roll. niki gazed at her, if he knew someone so beautiful lived in their town he would’ve started throwing punches long ago. jungwon noticed this and scoffed, as he did y/n got reminded to actually look at him. his right eye was swelling and his right hand had an ice pack over it.

“so who want’s to explain themselves first?” the principal questioned. “i was talking to bahiyyih and yunjin after the third bell and then he ran up and punched me!” jungwon exclaimed with a hint of annoyance in his voice. y/n glared at him, girls? really?? his first day, not to mention his first fight and it’s because of two girls???

“DONT ACT SO INNOCENT YOU WERE PULLING ON JEN’S ARM! she was mad uncomfortable and you weren’t taking the hint!” niki shouted back. “BECAUSE HIYYIH AND I WANTED TO EAT OUT FOR LUNCH! noona i swear! you know me! i wouldn’t flirt with someone let alone touch them if they were uncomfortable.” her little brother shouted before looking back at his sister.

y/n knew that jungwon wouldn’t act like that, both of her parents taught him better than that and y/n always made sure he knew how to treat girls. “i believe my brother, he wouldn’t do something like that. he’s never punched someone or done anything like this. it’s definitely not his fault.” she spoke before thowing a sarcastic smile at jay who had been giving her a side eye the entire time she spoke.

“listen, niki wouldn’t just punch someone either okay? obviously the girls had to be uncomfortable. he knows them okay? shit him and hiyyih are practically related by now so the both of you should just admit that jungwon AND niki were both in the wrong.” jay retorted.

now honestly jay knew this was all niki’s fault, the other boy looked like he wouldn’t even kill a fly but still he had to defend the boy. he felt the ego of y/n was too strong and he wasn’t willing to give up now that he already started.

y/n scoffed and stared at the man in disbelief. “are you serious?? he punched him AFTER he got punched! principal james did the girls confirm or deny my brother’s story?” she asked. “they’re actually finishing their lunch up right now but they should be done by now let me go check in my office.” the woman said before walking out of the room.

jay and y/n glared at eachother for a while before y/n turned to jungwon. “you okay won?” the sister asked getting a nod he could tell she was disappointed in him, and it made him regret ever punching niki back. “i’m sorry, noona.” he sighed looking down to his lap.

niki was just on his phone, trying to find y/n’s instagram and jay rolled his eyes at him. jay knew that niki started this and he also knew why the boy really started it. he normally wouldn’t have cared less what was happening around him and usually he’d be the ones begging the girls to go somewhere. but being away from his parents was hard and he hadn’t seen them in so long. that morning sunghoon found niki in their backyard asleep in the hammock dried tears down his face. the five older boys talked to him during breakfast almost till noon, sunoo and jake even being late to work just to make sure niki was okay.

niki would probably be apologetic at home but he couldn’t be vulnerable at school especially in front of the new kid. he saw an opportunity that morning and took it. he didn’t show it but he also regretted his actions and he knows that hiyyih and jen will be annoyed with him for a while.

the principal walked in hiyyih and yunjin behind her. y/n recognized hiyyih from the afternoon she spent with kai and ningning. the girls shared the bench on the other end of the table after introducing themselves to y/n. “girls, what happened earlier?” principal james questioned.

“well we had spent the first two periods with jungwon and our lunch bell rang, we were having fun so we invited him to eat with us.” yunjin started. “yeah, jungwon and i wanted to go to the cafe in town but jen wanted the pasta from the lunch menu today.” hiyyih continued. “and at first hiyyih was tugging at my arm then the both of them but hiyyih got a text from niki asking what we were doing for lunch.” “i stopped to text him back then heard him call out to me from the back entrance and when he saw jungwon and jen everything just happened.” hiyyih finished both apologetically looking to the seong siblings and jay as they spoke.

“jennifer, were you uncomfortable?” the principal asked. “not at all! we were just messing around with eachother.” the girl sighed reaching her hand on top of jungwon’s reassuring the boy. “thank you girls, you can get your stuff from my office and head home for the day, i’ll send your teachers a letter.” and with that the five were left in the room.

“other than punching niki AFTER he punched him, how was my brother in the wrong, jackass?” y/n questioned, the last part in a scoff. jay simply rolled his eyes and looked to the principal. “what’s the punishment gonna be ma’am?”

“well for starter’s both of you will have off campus privileges revoked this term, we don’t tolerate violence, so consider it a warning! both of you will have lunch detention together, niki you’ll have a third week with me in my office. i also expect you to write an apology to jungwon and his family, you can give us a preview now.” the woman spoke looking to each guardian in approval.

jay nudged him and the boy stood up, “jungwon, i’m sorry. i had no reason to punch you, i just wasn’t in the right headspace. i’m sorry this is how we met, you definitely left me with a nasty bruise though.” he smiled before holding his hand out for a hand shake. jungwon smiled and accepted the handshake “thanks, my eye’s probably gonna be sore for a minute. i’m sorry too, punching you was uncalled for on my end.” niki nodded before shifting towards y/n, “miss seong, i’m sorry for causing you trouble today. i shouldn’t have let my feelings control me in that way, i really am sorry.” he said bowing to the older girl.

she saw a look of sincerity in the boys eyes and smiled. “it’s okay kid, where do you think jungwon got it from. honestly i understand, there’s lots of ways to use that anger in you niki, promise me you’ll make it productive.” the boy nodded and the two exchanged smiles.

“okay well that’s fine with me if it is with you two!” the principal spoke as she stood, both y/n and jay nodded and followed the woman’s actions. she shook each of their hands before walking out. as the boys gathered their belongings jay approached y/n.

“about that i knew that it was niki’s fault he’s just going through things right now and i wanted to be supportive. i’m sorry, to both of you.” jay spoke to the siblings. jungwon nodded and shook jay’s hand but y/n stared him down.

“i get that, really, i do. but you protecting him isn’t actually beneficial to him. he needs to learn from his mistakes. he doesn’t need to be babied or spoiled.” y/n sighed. “whatever’s going on kid, your feelings are valid but you can’t act out like that. mistakes add up and sometimes they’re irreversible.” she spoke as the group approached the door, ruffling the boys hair after.

as the four walked out of the building hiyyih and jen were waiting they immediately apologized again to both jay and y/n. “it’s okay girl’s really it’s not your fault.” jay sighed nudging niki. “hiyyih, do you need a ride home i know kai’s working?” jay asked before taking out his keys.

“oh um, we actually were gonna see if we could get a ride with you, unnie? we have a science project from first period to work on with jungwon?” hiyyih frowned to jay before smiling to y/n. “of course! let’s go, i need to get home anyway.” y/n smiled.

and mere seconds after that the cars took different paths to the neighboring houses. “oh my god!” jen exclaimed.

“YOU GUYS ARE NEIGHBORS WITH JAY AND NIKI!?!”

JAY & Friends ₍⸍⸌̣ʷ̣̫⸍̣⸌₎

the group of boys that watch over niki & bahiyyih while staying in the country their jake talked so highly of! (sunoo and kai included)

jay: though he’s not the oldest he takes on that role, cooking, tidying up the house when he’s home from work. if he’s not home you can find him managing the house he rents out, studying for his business degree, or hanging with the boys on the beach.

jake: when jake isn’t with the boys he’s working at the marina, he loves the ocean and never gets fed up with work. he does help jay out a lot though, if jay can’t handle niki, jake is there to care of it.

sunghoon: everyone’s fave local barista, literally the sweetest soul, he often helps his neighbor mr. seong when he catches him working in the garage, the boys often help him but sunghoon has a softspot for the man.

heeseung: hee trades stocks, everyone is convinced the money he makes is through pure luck he couldn’t tell you his thought process, he spends a lot of time being active as well so his day is often spent playing basketball at the gym or the neighborhood court.

yeonjun: yeonjun works in the same shopping strip as sunghoon at a streetwear store, he spends his free time either with ningning or planning house parties and bonfires, thought he’s a little wild his friends balance him out well and he gets them out of the house.

soobin: soobin works at a small bookshop in town, since it’s a place almost exclusively visited by locals he has a lot of downtime at work (always spent reading), he’s always the first housemate to help hiyyih with her homework!

THE KIDS

all four are students of the international program at their high school. when jungwon transfers, the four form a tight group, but not without friction…

jungwon: the youngest of the two seong siblings, unlike his sister he is eager to spend time with his dad, incredibly out going and protective of his friends and family but especially his older sister!

niki: niki stays with his hyungs as he participates in the international program at their highschool, he’s very flirty, friends with almost the entire student body, & he usually keeps his cool.

bahiyyih: she begged her brother to bring her with him to australia the moment she overheard niki’s hyungs telling him about the program, she’s very popular, incredibly kind, and excited to welcome jungwon to the school!

yunjin: the first international student in their class! she spent two months tagging along with the year 12s but this term she had her own group, she loved to talk about where she’s from, fashion, & most of all gossip just as the other three kids!

Y/N & Friends (ෆ˙ᵕ˙ෆ)♡

the friends y/n brings with her to australia (including her own aussie girl) as well as the friends made along the way!!

y/n: the oldest of the seong siblings, she's not as outgoing as her younger brother but is super friendly, as long as you aren't her dad... she plans to spend most of the trip writing for her blog but that changes one morning.

lily: she's probably the most bubbly person you could meet, she loves taylor swift, the ocean, and being with her girls. don't be fooled though she's a strong believer in tough love and it shows when she's frustrated.

yoon: definitely the party animal of the group, and super outgoing she could have an 8 hour conversation with anyone if she put her mind to it, she's funny, smart, and her personality is contagious.

ningning: y/n meets ningning after sitting in on one of her dad's guest lectures at the local community college, ningning shows y/n around the town she'd been absent from for so long. she's tough on the exterior but warms up to the girl and her friends excited to hang out with people that aren’t men.

sunoo: literal sunshine in the form of a human! which is exceptionally helpful as he works as receptionist at one of the resorts. y/n actually meets him on a morning walk down the coast and is instantly drawn to him, he took her to his favorite coffee shop and the two quickly bonded!

hueningkai: the two met when y/n dropped ningning of at her boyfriend's house. kai had just got off from his shift at the coffee shop and him & his sister were the only two home. the duo bonded over how frustrating their younger siblings were, joking about the drama of teenage relationships, little did they know...
