LXC’s heartbreaking realization in The Untamed/ 陈情令 episode 43

I love the way you can seem LXC processing the implications of the reveal here. First, it is that his friend may not be the person he thought he was, he might in fact be a terrible person and no friend at all, let alone sworn brother. But then, bad as that is, it pales in comparison to the subsequent realization, that if this is true, then he, Lan Xichen, is also complicit, both as a supporter/advocate, and in things he has done as a leader alongside JGY:

Do not hurt yourself, do not hurt others, get help, talk to someone, anyone. Humanity has survived before and we can do it now if we all just support each other. My country and my people let me down and endangered my life but there’s nothing I or anyone else can do about that so let’s try to spread the love that is so clearly lacking.

Jiang Cheng angst

Requested by anonymous: Can I ask a Jiang Cheng x reader with a ton of angst, I just need angst rn

A/N sorry for the long wait, hope its angsty enough for your liking (although its a bit short)

Warnings: angst, death, a bit of gore I guess, ending is a bit weird

Word Count: 387 words

Jiang Cheng was worried. Very worried. A week ago, you had an enormous fight that ended in you storming out. Since then, he hadn't seen you anywhere nor had anyone else. He had already sent multiple searches for you, but all of them had returned with nothing not even a hint of where you could possibly be.

Yanli and Wuxian were in his room, watching him pace around nervously as they waited for the next search group to return and hopefully with good news. He kept pacing, his head spinning as he thought of the horrible things that could've happened to you and soon he felt faint when the worst possible thing crossed his mind. He was someone who didn't often show his emotion, but now it was evident that he was scared. His face had paled immensely and his pupils were slightly shaking, but most noticeably he had just frozen in place. Then the door opened, revealing a guard. He bowed down before turning to Jiang Cheng.

"Anything?" "Some villagers say they spotted a woman near the river that matched (y/n)'s description yesterday evening." The man spoke and Jiang Cheng nodded, ordering them to look around the area. He then proceeded to grab his own sword and zidian to join the hunt.

When the river was reached, Jiang Cheng's eyes landed on the red that soaked the river.

One, then two and another step before he reached the river. Then one final step to reach behind the bush.

In front of him laid a body and when he turned the body, he was immediately greeted by your pale figure. You were drenched in blood and water, your hair sticking to your face and your dress ripped in multiple places. Your wound was clearly visible, a large gash that was most likely from a saber, and similar small gashes on your arms, legs and even on your face.

It took a few minutes before everything hit Jiang Chang all at once. He didn't care about the onlookers and crashed to his knees, holding your body against his chest as tears escaped his eyes. Soon, he was full on sobbing as he clutched your body tighter to his.

On the inside, he was praying that you would wake up and be fine, but he knew deep down that was only a dream.
