crazy that nori feels guilty for everything thats gone wrong to uzi and everyone else on copper 9
#↳ [[[ 𝚜𝚢𝚜 //: ooc. ]]]#she blames herself in a very quiet and internalized way so as to not worsen the situation for others#and i think she justifies her abandoning khan and uzi for all those years because#in her mind#she was making amends for blowing up the planet and passing the solver virus down to uzi#hm#i need to get home on my laptop cause i have more to say but need to write it down

it was still unbelievable to her — they’re both here now, together again. holding onto each other once for dear life just like the old days. some things never change.
nori shoved down the memory of that day she had ‘died’, she had thought of coming back so many times, for her family, for her. perhaps if she had, she could’ve prevented… everything. her feelings of regret for the past burdened her, it’s what drove her to this moment. though there was still so much to repair, and not just speaking on the rest of yeva’s body.
her digits threaded between the locks of yeva’s hair, cupping beneath the back of her as she pulled her closer into her shoulder. she couldn’t let go, not yet. this was probably the most safe either of them have felt in a long time.
and yet, even happy reunions must come to an end eventually.
her tight embrace begins loosening, subtly, her hand weaved out of yeva’s hair tracing down to her shoulder. nori pulled back, her hand quick to find security in the yeva’s. she breathes deeply, struggling to find the words. she knows however she goes about this, it’s gonna be hard to take. nori musters up her courage, straightening up as she masks her voice with confidence.
“ we’re in the colony… ” she pauses. “ your place, actually. ” her visor glances around the scene, cringing a bit when her gaze falls down the hall toward doll’s room. it’s probably better yeva’s visor is so damaged right now.
she turns back to her again, her hand tightening around hers.
“ it’s been… a few years since you… ” the word gets caught in her throat. she can’t even say it. “ doll’s okay. she… she isn’t here right now but — i’m gonna have uzi go get her the second we’re finished fixing you up. ”
she hopes yeva will let her leave it at that; she doesn’t know where exactly it doll had went. uzi only told her so much, begrudgingly so.
a guilty gaze falls to the other body that laid only a few feet before them. her hand tightening once again, a silent apology she was yet to bring herself to say. for now, she would focus on yeva’s rehabilitating her, getting her acclimated to the new reality of their world. and then it would be his turn.
Yeva will never forget the day Nori died. Losing her was more painful than all of the experiments and procedures she went through in Cabin Fever Labs. It was them against the world back then. She cries, soft and hiccuping, as the memories flood back. So does her voice, with the confirmation that this is someone she trusts.
"I'm sorry, Nori. I wanted to help, but they said you were too far gone," she babbles. Her voice cracks from disuse. From her perspective, it has only been a couple of years since Nori died. The wound of her loss is still fresh.
"I thought I'd never see you again." She buries her face in Nori's shoulder, probably getting oil all over her in the process. Yeva wishes her visor was working so that she could see how Nori looks. Nori probably needed a whole new body with the condition she was in.
Yeva wonders about the state of her own body. Without her diagnostics systems online, she doesn't know the extent of her injuries. Everything hurts, like she hasn't moved in years. Aside from her visor, the only thing she knows for sure is that her chest cradle needs tightened. The core should sit snugly inside without wiggle room. It's going to be a nightmare getting repaired.
"What happened...? Where are we? ...My family?"

nori tries to mentally ground herself, continuing to resist reaching out to comfort her. watching desperately while her friend seemed to try grappling with her temporary reality. her mouth opens to speak again, but it’s cut short in a sharp breath when the other woman’s hands reach out toward her.
she’s frozen in place. watching breathlessly as her friend feels her figure. her core shook insider her chest. shaking hands gripped the hem of her shirt while she tried to gauge yeva’s expression. this new body wasn’t exactly hers, it carried few personality from her previous body but even still, it was so different from before. nori half expected yeva to use her solver again once she realized her ponytail was gone.
she collects herself, and there’s relief again. anticipation brims as yeva’s hand laces through her strap, till she’s holding nori’s name tag.
this is the first time she’s smiling, it only grew with hope as she watched yeva grab her own. her hands were just about to reach out toward her in full confidence, but yeva beats her to it. feeling the familiar embrace of her friend at long last. again, she’s frozen in place. only for a second though. before long, she’s blinking, her arms wrapping around the other gently. and then tightly. squeezing her. she holds her like it’ll be the last time again. as if she’s scared that if she loosens up even a little, she’ll disappear.
nori chokes out a laugh, somewhat grateful her friend can’t see the digital tears spilling. but, it’s probably obvious in her voice.
“ i… i told you it was me. ” she clears her voice. “ sorry if i scared you. ”
Yeva hears footsteps and the faint creak of metal joints. Nori's voice is at arm's length, but Yeva can't retreat any further. Yeva tries her best to calm down. Nothing is happening to her in this moment. No one is hurting her. She's not in danger.
Wherever she is, it's silent. That means she's indoors, and some time had passed since the unknown drone shot her. She strains to listen, and hears the distant hum of a ventilation system. That means she's still inside the outpost.
Yeva stretches her arm towards the other drone. All Worker Drones have the same face shape, but she'll know Nori by her hair. She moves her fingertips up until she finds soft, sleek hair. Then, she pinches follows it down. She expects to find Nori's signature ponytail, but it ends abruptly.
She almost panics, but she calms herself. Nori might still be wearing her name tag or gloves. If it's really Nori, she won't mind Yeva touching her to find it. Yeva feels for her shoulder, and then her neck. Her core jumps when she feels a strap. She follows the length down to something square and laminated.
Yeva feels her own name tag for confirmation, and her breath hitches. It's her. Her hair is different, but it's Nori. Yeva scoots forward on her knees and pulls the other woman into a hug. If her visor was working, she would be crying.

nori watched, careful to keep her distance despite all of her wanting to close the large gap between them. her hands clenched tighter even as she watched her friend sign accusatorily at her; eyes hollow before she breathes in an embarrassed hiss through her teeth.
" i did sorta die. look it's really complicated. "
she gazes off to the front door, debating about whether or not she should bring khan in. maybe hearing both their voices would help ? yeva had no reason to trust or believe her; hell if nori was in her position right now she'd have shredded the place to bits before anyone could try reasoning with her. thank robo god yeva is nothing like her.
she glances back just as yeva starts breathing strangely, stepping closer a kneeling down to her level. it bothered her so much not to know what exactly she was thinking right now. once again, a hand reaches out toward the shaken drone's arm, only to cease last second and fall at her side. her voice is calm but assertive, keeping it at a low enough volume so to not seem too agitated at the rate this is going.
" yeva. breathe. talk to me. i know you've probably got a million questions right now so just ask. i promise i'll answer the best i can. "
Yeva inches away along the wall, away from this thing imitating her best friend. Nori is dead. She died years ago. Without her monitoring systems, there's nothing to confirm otherwise. She has no internal clock, no wireless networking to ping other drones, and no olfactory sensors to pick up the scent of Nori's clothing.
She reaches the end of the wall and wedges herself into the corner. A beep sounds in her speakers, followed by a notification: INSUFFICIENT MATERIAL FOR REPAIR. SCANNING FOR REPAIR MATERIAL...0%...5%...PROCESS FAILED. RESTART Y/N?
Yeva hit 'N'. The patch was doing its job by preventing her body from going into autopilot. Such a simple yet important function grounded her. This was real. Yeva was real.
She still didn't know if Nori was real. Nori was one of the few people she felt comfortable speaking around, but without knowing for sure, her voice failed her.
'How could you be her?' she signed, her hands moving in sharp, jabbing motions. 'I was there. I saw her body.'
Her arms dropped to her sides. It took months after the fact for her to stop having nightmares. Mitchell, too, but he tried to put on a brave face for her and...
...Yeva's core sinks. Where is her family?
She breathes in, breathes out, and slides down to the wall to sit with her head in her hands. Please let them be okay. She can't lose anyone else.

@deepspacevivarium continued.
yeah that's just about the reaction she was expecting, oh well can't say she didn't try giving warm welcome back to the living. she's half grateful to herself it's just them for right now, though the hard part is still to come, she still needed to calm her down. nori initially flinches back at first, exhaling a surprised breath as the lights shatter above them. it doesn't deter her, hands reach out to grip her arms but hesitate before balling into loose fists.
" yeva ? i... " she nearly chokes on her words, not knowing what to say, what could possibly convince her to calm down. brows knit together on her visor, fist tightening determinedly, her voice come out stronger, more confident this time. " look i know it's gonna be hard to believe but it's nori. "
she takes a single step toward her. " i promise, i can explain everything that happened i just need you to calm down. "

MURDER DRONES EPISODE ONE SENTENCE STARTERS
"we finally had a future all to ourselves."
"it's like we're waiting for an inciting incident!"
"so not the vibe!"
"easy moron. it doesn't work... yet! it doesn't work yet!"
"who said it doesn't work? maybe it does!"
"the homework was a word problem on buying watermelons."
"and is it supposed to be that color?"
"ew. it didn't kill her / him / it / they."
"that's never gonna end up problematic."
"hey, those bandages look pretty badass."
"no more feedback on my repression today!"
"and where might you be off to?"
"...sneaking out to make out with my boyfriend that i definitely have?"
"well we don't just play cards."
"neat. therapy is fun."
"holy crap it talks."
"yeah sorry it's just my uh-- head kinda hurts."
"that's not true. everyone tells me i'm useless and terrible."
"wait. i'm not supposed to tell you that part!"
"well honesty is the best policy."
"i uh have to... go."
"sure! i love doing anything!"
"sweet uh... i'm open to new things, i guess."
"we are never talking about this."
"talking about what!? consider it, uh, repressed!"
"and yet, i still feel nothing."
"oh god! who are you!?"
"so obviously a lot of mutual respect there!"
"but secretly, i actually kind of have a crush on her / him / they / it."
"___, you're worthless and terrible."
"they never taught us how to land."
"i guess i just wanna be useful."
"oh my! you sure are rebellious! it's kinda exciting!"
"you know, i left an extremely dangerous excuse uh outside!"
"oooh deal me in! i love rummy! wait not. ugh. i'm gonna murder everyone... rain check!"
"uh actually it's gin rummy. soo..."
"what have you done?!"
"i'm sorry. i really enjoyed our time together."
"i messed up. in the same way i'm about to fix it!"
"point and shoot. trust me!"
"am i dreaming or did you do something not useless for once?"
"lowest body count eats a missile!"
"you know what that means! branded pens!"
"excuse me?"
"you just finally gave me the excuse i needed."
"i hate to see you corrupted as well."
"i ruined your card game, then made you have an awkward moment with your dad."
"and i made you rebel like an angsty teen, which got you killed."
"though, you also tried to kill me, so morality calls this a draw."
"for the record, that was the lamest heel face turn in history."
"being rebellious is a lot hard than it looks. thanks for showing me the ropes."
"i screwed up."
"so they found our evacuation spot."
"for real?"
"you're sometimes kinda mean to me, and i wish you weren't. just some constructive critisicm."
"too bad! good luck!"
"my minds in a weird place, don't read into this!"
"have fun repressing this!"
"i've had pray fight back before but your edgy spirit is just so..."
"one more buzzword and i'll do it."
"you chose to leave for dead instead of just fricken believing in me!"
"i banish myself!"
"hope you're having important character growth or something though!"
