[text]: Christmas is a time to be honest, so this is it — I’m in love with you.

       Despite the warm and semi organized chaos that is most of his world during the holidays -- in its current state, he’s keeping an eye on a pot of simmering vegetables whose recipe he’s already forgotten while his mother is greeting more of her friends that have stepped through their always-open door -- he doesn’t miss his phone buzzing in his pocket. Confident in his multitasking, raises one hand in greeting from the kitchen, moves that same to stir the mixture, and with his free opens the message waiting for him. 

       --- -- Then promptly drops the wooden spoon as his face warms to unequivocal scarlet. It takes him a few reads to fully understand what he’s seeing -- a brilliant and overlarge smile growing on his lips, something that he’d school into a more acceptable expression had he half a mind. As it stands, he can’t help the laugh that bubbles up in his throat, overjoyed. He can practically hear Gladion’s voice in the message -- rough around the edges but sincere and earnest. 

       And after just another moment, utterly romantic heart untameable ( see ? there’s magic this time of year ! ) he’s replying --

       ❛ Ah -- ❜ The Professor has a point -- not necessarily because fireplaces are so very common on the islands, but for the access of it. Most of the school needs to be accounted for, with special care to make sure that even small crowds of students don’t block any of the halls or exits. His brow furrows in concentration, lips drawn into a thoughtful line as he thinks of his options, fingers brushing against the fabric of the topmost stocking in the box. 

       ❛ --- Oh ! The windows ! ❜ And then his grin is back, self assured and glittering with both the satisfaction of a problem solved and the general enthuse of the season, as if the cool temperatures and strung up lights and promise of festive activities is palpably felt. ❛ Easy for them to get to when dropping off donations -- and I dare say it fits into the mythos a little better as well. Wouldn’t it be easier to drop presents through an open window then to make the trip down the length of a chimney ? ❜
