“ indeed ? i've never been so fond of practicing archery, myself. other pursuits have always drawn me in far more. ” no, the art of the bow was lost upon the targaryen - for it is so impersonal. there has always been a certain artistic vision required he has never cared for - more a man of action than of show. despite all this, the joust has always drawn him in. “ ah, the joust is more my taste. I'm set to compete. ”
" i intend to try my hand at the archery, i'm practiced enough - even if i do miss my target from time to time. " the lannister shrugged his shoulders, a sip taken from his cup. he intended to finish his drink and find his way down to the archers that had already gathered. he was better with a bow than he was a sword. " and yourself? surely you're not just here to watch. "

“ good ser, I would not dare speak for thy lady wife ⸻ but I suspect you would be at least evenly matched to the knights who prepare to saddle - even now. ” perhaps it speaks more for the knights of today, than the lord's own might, she thinks ⸻ but he is not without strength either. “ it shall depend who competes, I think. if for loyalty sake ⸻ I should say one of my reach lords. but I suppose it matters more whom my own lord father would have me choose than whom I may choose for myself. ”
"I would place a bet upon my own head, but my good wife has bid me to leave jousting to the young and unwed. Could I have depended on your good-will, had I participated?" Eragon offered this concession with an air of pure blithe; he smiled readily at her inquiries. The beauty of youth was still at her side -- Olenna lived by vivid passions, her world unmarred, enchanted. "But tell me - who would you bestow your favour, should you be given such a chance? Do not fear your answer will become fodder for gossip, for I am expert in all matters discreet. My daughters have taught me by penalty of death, to never betray a lady's confidence."

“ do you intend to participate in any of the tournaments, my liege ? ” dragon-lord offers over his shoulder, glancing down from the balconies to the practicing archers. “ i've found so few are brave enough to step up to the tourney lines. ”

“ i'm sure I don't know what you mean. i meant simply the tourney. ser gwaine assured me it is bound to be a most exciting event ⸻ the best we've seen in years. i'm tempted to grant him my favour for his charm alone. ” the presumed closeness found in the diminutive mixed with the subject spoken of results in raised brows, the arbor's delight ensuring that ever present smile does not slip despite her discomfort. a flower in a lion's den could be trampled so easily, even one with vine's as thick as hers. “ such conversation like you suggest would be far from proper ⸻ certainly not at a celebration in his grace's own halls with so many ears around. ”
* ⠀🐺 ⠀ 𓂅 ⠀ "ah, the games of chance and favor that swirl around the festivities," she mused, a delicate smile gracing her features. "as for bets, my dear, i find myself more inclined to observe the unfolding tapestry of alliances and intrigues rather than stake my claim on any particular outcome. each contender weaves their narrative with artistry, and the uncertainty is part of the allure, is it not?" her gaze wandered across the adorned hall, where hopeful faces vied for attention and recognition. "in the delicate dance of politics and affections, one never knows which thread will unravel or entwine. it keeps the courts alive with anticipation. do you have a favored contender, my astute confidante, or do you, too, find pleasure in the unpredictable currents of courtly endeavors?"

“ it is wonderful ” such grand pageantry offered up to them all - with little care for how much was spent upon it's opulence. she delights in it ⸻ appreciating the regal nature of the capitol. yet it remains cold to her - lacking in the floral delights of the reach ⸻ the gardens far more simple and the colours somehow lacking. despite this, it is where power can be found ⸻ the heart of it all. “ i'm sure I speak for all of your people when I say it is a delight to be in attendance. if I may say, I'd have liked to see more flowers, your grace. ”
OPEN STARTER location: the great hall
little annoyed Tyron more than the fact that someone could spoil his evening. he'd gone to great lengths in his own mind to prepare the king's landing for the great house's arrival and everything had gone according to his plans until more dragons emerged than what he was prepared for. did he bother or feel threatened? no, why would he? If he had to bite first, of course, he would. entering the great hall and having everyone's eyes upon him was everything he needed at this moment. the spring celebrations had several purposes one of them was for him to find a queen who could give him children. With gentle nods, he gave recognition to those he needed and ignored those he felt didn't deserve his favor. "the great hall looks so grand - I hope it is to your liking?" he voiced to no one in particular and yet expected a reply.

“ have you placed your bets upon anyone yet, my liege? ” pearly white teeth serve a contrast against rosy lips, curiousity mixed with amusement placing a smile across her features. “ surely there must be one favoured above all others to win. ”
