Graphics On The Fly

The North Star Aerial Van gets graphics!

Because, what would a full service aerial production vehicle be without a little logo love?

It's a Ram ProMaster with a twist: we added custom badging and turned ours into an AerialMaster.

Big shout out to Joel Boerboom & the talented, professional crew at Catapult who went the extra mile to get our graphics done in time!  They even threw in this landing zone mat, which is safe and super cool.

Next up, we tackle the van's interior - stay tuned!

Transforming Perspectives with Travel

 We had the opportunity to travel to the great down under last December, we packed up the small but very capable  DJI Phantom for a long flight and before I knew it, we were driving on the wrong side of the road.

Our time was short but the locations were epic! We flew the beautiful emerald green waters of Byron Bay, Surfers' Paradise, Rainbow Bay and over the 330ft drop (!!) of Minion Falls. 

The majestic views of Cape Byron were nothing short of awe inspiring. 

I find Travel changes ones perspective on places, people, time and light. Aerial Cinematography does the same.

We Started in a Garage and Now We Are in a Van!

North Star Aerial has added a new piece of equipment to its production arsenal!  It's black, has 4 wheels and does not fly. The lower 48 is now our backyard. 

Introducing the NSA Van!

Stay tuned while we turn this empty shell into a full blown Aerial Production Van!

For extra added fun we are crowd sourcing amenities. From the practical to hair brained, suggest now or forever hold your peace. The BEST and WORST idea will be added to the van and the winners will receive  SWAG from NSA :)

The Fast Green Commute

Minneapolis actor and inventor Rich Kronfeld, has done it again. No longer will the morning commute be a slow or unsafe endeavor for bicycle commuters, a group that has grown exponentially in the last decade in the US. We had the chance to work with Rich last fall fly with his amazing hybrid vehicle, capturing footage of the Raht Racer in action for their promotional video, which now has over 7K shares on Mashable. 

This hybrid vehicle amplifies pedal power to enable cyclists to travel at the same speeds as cars, while still getting a workout. It is the first vehicle of its kind in the world. It has a roof to keep you dry in wet weather and a space to store your computer, lunch and everything you need for your day. The Raht Racer’s hybrid flywheel generator multiplies the pedal power of the driver. The Raht can reach top speeds of 70+ MPH. A Full Heart

Sometimes there are jobs where you're not sure what to expect or know what you are getting yourself into. Last year around this time I had the opportunity to travel to Haiti and Dominican Republic with a long time customer Lifetouch to help tell their story of building hope and education. 

Ninety percent of the time I spent behind the camera story telling but it’s the rest of the time I spent not working that changed my perspective on the world. Meeting and interacting with kids who have nothing, and I mean nothing, and simply getting them to smile and laugh was the best thing in the world. 

 I am honored to be able to travel again to the DR and revisit volunteers, see progress and also reconnect with the wonderful children. Remember to be grateful for what you have and thankful for all that you do.

2014 was a great year and we at North Star Aerial are very excited to release our show reel. Throughout the year we have had the opportunity to work with great clients and cover some incredible projects that have taken us all over the world. Thanks to many talented behind-the-scenes creatives, we've grown and greatly expanded our capabilities.

We are thankful for new clients and and continued relationships with existing customers. Thank you again for all the support and we look forward to an even better 2015!!!

The weather and location Gods were with us. One half day on location for stills and 90 minutes to scout, fly and get our teaser shots in the can :)
