((I was thinking about this lately too :c I kinda just half assed it in the beginning. I wish you luck on your research, and can’t wait to see what you got in the end.))
[[ Thank you so much Mika!!! I got a pretty good idea of him fleshed out, but I’m not posting it on here because ~someone~ will see them. I might post a good bio on my personal, once I get more research done. And don’t beat yourself up, I love gopher c: and if you do rework them, I’ll probably love them too, skjfasdf. ]]

[[ Okay, after seeing the 7th MN oc with blonde hair in the same style- after having this guy since 2009, I’m honestly thinking of scrapping him and doing a completely new perspective Minnesota oc. I think we have enough blonde hair blue eyed white Minnesota’s. And even though I try to capture that rural perspective, I don’t really think it’s enough, or has already been said. I’m gonna keep this guy around (even though it’s so dead in here so that’s pretty much up in the air), but I think I’m going to work on a new perspective. My biggest mistake/regret in creating this guy, is not taking into account how many Reservations and first nations people Minnesota has. So when I do make my new Minnesota, he will be Santee Sioux. This is going to require a TON of research, but I think it will be worth it. ]]

Muse Aesthetic list
I’ve compiled a simple list of Sven’s aesthetics, just random things I’d definitely associate with his character. Smells: Pine, Wood, Bonfire, Creeping Charlie, Snow, Decomposing Leaves, Rotting old trees, Sweet/Sour smell of an apple orchard, celery and onions frying in butter, Cinnamon rolls, rotting fish smell by the fish cleaning house, an old musty cabin that’s had more than a few fires in the fireplace, MOLD, fresh cold air Sights: Hues of Blue and Purple, Fog, Frost, small ladyslipper flowers, agates, corn and soybean fields, dots of trees spotting the farmlands, small creeks, the skeleton of a deer in the woods, shadows that dart behind trees when you’re deep in the woods, northern lights, the north star Sounds: Loons, Snowmobiles, Wolves, Snow Falling, Squirrels calling, ice skates skimming across the ice, small waves splashing on rocks, 80′s pop music, a boat motor going far across the lake, strong wind gusts, boats rocking against a dock Tastes: Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Blueberry, Rhubarb, Wild Rice, Raspberry, Cream, Tatertots, Lefse, Maple Syrup, Walleye, Apples, Mushrooms, Sweet cheap wines, Apple cider, Venison Sensations: Slush/Ice/Snow, Stepping in a slush pile with boots, Trudging through snow drifts, shuffling on glare ice, Wool blankets, That suffocating feeling when you walk out in -20 temps, running your hands through river sand, picking a leech off your body, scraping frost off a window Clothing: Flannel, Big grandpa glasses, Scarves, Bomber hats, Hockey jerseys, Snowmobile suits

“Black people have been in Minnesota since before statehood, yet there is very little about them in the history books. As a result, we have this idea that Minnesota never participated in slavery, and life here has always been equitable for black people. Of course, neither of those things is true,” says historian and Augsburg College associate professorWilliam D. Green. “It’s easy to develop a sense of self-satisfaction. We can be proud of elements of our history, but complacency is not on the side of angels. White Minnesotans didn’t have to worry about quality of life issues that black Minnesotans endured. And as long as that history isn’t recognized, it will continue.”
Green’s latest book, “Degrees of Freedom: The Origins of Civil Rights in Minnesota, 1865-1912” (University of Minnesota Press) chronicles conditions for African-Americans in Minnesota in the half-century following the Civil War, when notable black figures such as Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. Du Bois and Booker T. Washington faced discrimination in their visits to the state, while black residents faced restrictions in education, employment and real estate. He details the fight to achieve black suffrage in the state, the rise of Jim Crow laws and the impact of segregation on public education. He also follows notable black intellectuals and entrepreneurs, including black barbers, a class of refined and personable men who worked among the wealthy and powerful, achieving personal prosperity while quietly advancing civil rights.
