Deena Johnson.
Deena stood outside one of the tents, trying to get through her cigarette as quickly as possible so she could get back in time to watch Amanté in the tournament. She wasn’t too worried about missing anything, he always did well. The weather was a bit chilly, but nothing a jacket and gloves couldn’t help. Still, she couldn’t wait to get back into the warm. “At least it’s not snowing this year huh?” she said to the person who seemed to have their own reasons for lurking outside the tents as well. “Stupid meteors couldn’t fall during summer?”
“Still cold as shit,” Grimaced Gilbert, hugging himself into his warm coat. No wonder the expression was hell freezing over. Then again there was also ‘hot as hell’ so who was to say which was correct. “Freakin meteors.” It was kind of insane to think about, all this for just some meteors. They really must have been some kind of sight. “They as special as everyone says they are?”

EZRA TURNER.
“Got me there” Ezra couldn’t help but shrug. The campus security didn’t fool around which he was grateful for, mostly, at least his friends wouldn’t run into any trouble so long as they were around. “Oh, you don’t have to do that” he shook his head quickly. He never really knew what to do when people were nice to him for no reason like that, too used to others needing something from him.
“You still seem pretty exhausted and truly, I don’t mind. I have little better to do.” Gilbert remembered what it was like, at his very lowest, and if anyone had showed him kindness back then he would have been so fast to try and reject it. It would have helped him greatly though, which was probably why he wanted to help this young man. “I actually get pretty bored so you’d be doing me a favor by giving me something to do.” Somewhat of a half lie, but hopefully it’d convince the young man.

JIN ZHANG.
.
Jin smiled softly “I totally understand, I just thought I’d offer since you were hard at work” she set the pot back on the burning before turning her attention back to him. “So are you a musician?”
“Oh you are too kind.” Gilbert grinned, he enjoyed seeing other’s kindness, it was impressive. It was something he’d become more familiar with after losing his fortunes. “Something like that, I reach music.” He explained.

LILITH.
“I was just rambling about work.” She confessed, a smile on her face. It was nice to know someone wanted to listen. Lilith gasped gently as she now can put a name to a face. “Yes! I remember you now. You were, like, my favorite teacher! Mr. Norton, right?”
“Oh work that’s the best kind of rambling, I’m here for it.” In most cases it consisted of complaints, though Gilbert himself found he quite enjoyed his work. Especially when working with people just as enthusiastic as he was. “I’m memorable?” He felt touched at that. “Yes that’s me, Mr. Norton. Though I suppose you could call me Gilbert now if you’d like.”

EZRA TURNER.
.
“Apologies. Didn’t realize that the nap police was in” Ezra rolled his eyes, sitting up with a groan as he reached for his folded jacket turned makeshift pillow. “Whatever. Forget it, I just figured that not many people would swing by here at this time, clearly that was my bad” Ezra stood, shrugging the jacket on. “I have a place to go” he said, perhaps a touch too defensively. “This was just closer..”
“Oh please, if I was campus security you wouldn’t even have been questioned. Just thrown out.” That was the case in Gilbert’s own tussles with them at least. He watched the man with a wary gaze, curiosity leaping in his chest and the want to ask questions overpowering. He frowned at the defensiveness, noting it in his head. “If the place is too far I could offer a ride.” Gil’s own classes didn’t start for a few hours, he had been preparing to set himself up early was all but that could be spared for later.

ELIZABETH BROOKS.
A small chuckle left Elizabeth’s lips at the question that was in reply to his and she couldn’t help but nod. He wasn’t wrong. Currently all of her days felt long and tiring. “This comes in close second to just curling up in my bed at the end of the night. But, I don’t think anything will ever beat that.” She said with a grin, taking a drink from the beer she was currently working on.
“That does sound like a quite lovely evening.” For her, that is. Gilbert had no such pleasantries in his own experience. Sleep didn’t come easy to him, even if he laid down, lights off and eyes shut. She was a battle for him, and he hardly came out dominate. Most nights he usually remained away until there was just enough drift for him to fall. It was never warm, it was never comfortable. “I personally enjoy a good watching of a good movie in enjoyable company.”

Lilith.
She’s rambling on about something, what exactly that is? Just her job. When he asks her what she’s said she just replies “Nothing important.” She smiles at him. “I was just asking where I’d seen you before. You look familiar. Lilith.” The girl introduces as she holds out her hand. After all the stranger probably wouldn’t care much about her job.
“Everything’s important,” Gilbert said, an instinctual response when you dealt with young people who always declared things unimportant. “At least to someone. Even if it’s only yourself.” He flashed a grin. “Lilith... “ He paused, registering the name. “I taught you once, didn’t I?”

Jin Zhang.
.
“It’s okay, not an issue at all” Jin replied before holding up the pot of coffee in her hand “I asked if you wanted a refill on your cup of coffee?”
“Oh no love, thank you but no thank you. If I refill my coffee I will never get any sleep tonight.” He declared with certainty and a chuckle.

EZRA TURNER.
.
“Alright, well that’s my secret nap spot ruined..” Ezra sighed, sitting up as he heard the door opening. “Did you need something?” he asked, raising a brow. He didn’t mean to be cranky but he’d pulled a double shift after one of the twilight guys had called out, forgetting that he was also supposed to work in the morning and now he was paying for it.
@fearstreetstarters
“How’bout you not taking a nap in my music room?” Gilbert wasn’t possessive of his music room per say, but more so protective. What happened if someone came here wanting to use the instruments but had seen the young man and decided to let his rest? Oh, well now Gil just felt like an ass as the thought processed. “This... isn’t the best chosen room to sleep in. There’s comfortable couch in a few classrooms, if you need one.”

ELIZABETH BROOKS.
cursedhomecoming:
“Did you have a long day too?” Elizabeth asked the person who had sat next to her at the bar. She wasn’t going to say anything, knowing that most of the time when people came to a place like this, they wanted to just drink away their feelings. She knew that’s what she was doing. But when she heard the person beside her let out an audible sigh, she looked over to them to offer conversation.
Always, every single day of my living life. Yes. It was what Gilbert wanted to say, but it was a bit too dramatic for decent company. So instead he opted for something somewhat similar. “Aren’t they all?” Casual enough to not be a spectacle but also the honest truth. “this, perhaps, may be the best part of my day.” Sitting at the bar sharing a conversation with a stranger, how wonderfully mundane.

Hey watch your back! That’s [GILBERT NORTON]. People say [HE] has lived in [SHADYSIDE] for [SIX YEARS]. I heard they are a [29] year old [MUSIC TEACHER]. Don’t you think they look like [ALFIE ALLEN]? They remind me of [never living up to your potential, an album of photos called ‘receipts.’, reminding everyone to put a coat on, wearing sunglasses to hide a hangover, vodka in a water bottle ]
Monica Norton died ten minutes within the moment her son was brought into this world. From the very beginning the cards were set against him, and still Gilbert found a way to thrive. He excelled in music, from piano to violin to trombone. He was a musical prodigy. Sometimes his father would say it was the only reason he kept ‘the boy’ around.
He was 23 years old when all his good fortunate was thrown out the window. All his life Gilbert had known he was gay, he was pretty sure everyone else had known too. It was only actually saying it that changed everything. His father threw him out in an instant, wrote him out of his will, and forbade any contact with his siblings less they risk the same fate.
Gilbert moved in with his closest friend. He looked for a job putting his musical education to use and eventually found one.
