olympics Y/N L/N dazzles in her short program, skating to Yiruma's "River Flows in You" on the first official day of the solo figure skating competition in Beijing. As of today, she is third on the leaderboard (the first American to have made it this far since Sasha Cohen in Torino 2006), behind the ROC's Kamila Valieva and Anna Shcherbakova.

lara.j.h go y/n go!
junebug27 she'd be in first if it weren't for Eteri's drugged up girls, but ya'll aren't ready for that conversation yet
anuyshaliva Kamila and Anna deserve to be in first and second. If Y/N wanted a better position, she should've tried harder.
amarantheazalea stfu girl the russians aren't gonna thank you for riding them yk 😒
junebug27 i said what i said. kamila was literally found to have drugs in her system after the team events concluded, and i wouldn't be surprised if anna and sasha were the same. i'm sure the girls are all very talented on their own, but Eteri breaks them. look what happened to evgenia. look what happened to aliona.
barbiegirl44 my mother breaks records wherever she goes, ya'll just wait and see 🥹
sharlleclerc not charles, carlos, lando and danny ric all lurking in the likes 😭
charlesstan4ever so what do we think guys? is she the reason charles was smiling at his phone so often in daniel's post?
itsellieinparis who else could it be?
sophhhhhhhia methinks yes, madam 🫡
kyrapreston istg all of ya'll need to calm down 😒 she hasn't even said anything abt him other than the fact that he's nice

cassievilleneuve eeeeek that's my bestieee!
y/n l/n thanks guys 😭 this medal means the world to me and i'm honored to bring it back home to you!
livandluke it's just a bronze, i don't see why everyone's so happy about it
lorabelle even "just a bronze" means you're the third best figure skater in the world 😒 considering what y/n was up against (and all the russian shenanigans going on) this season, i'm hugely impressed with her performance. besides, don't forget, she has a gold team medal too; she just hasn't gotten that one yet because they have to investigate the doping scandal first.
charles_leclerc very well deserved! congratulations @y/nl/n!
y/n l/n merci beaucoup, charles 🥹

The Olympic Village Beijing, China
Her heart wouldn't stop its erratic thump-thumping. As she got out of the bath, wrapped herself up in a fluffy white towel, and threw herself onto the downy comforter, she couldn't help but try to trace her footsteps back; take deep breaths and try to calm herself down.
It was to no avail; the post-Olympic high was still going strong, and there was nothing Y/N could do to calm it down. She didn't know if she wanted to, even if the rapid breathing was getting annoying. She didn't know if she wanted to forget a moment more of this experience.
It had been such a wild ride, coming to Beijing. Y/N had never expected that something like this would happen to her. She'd never even predicted it in her wildest dreams. This had been something Cassie had always longed for, something Cassie had worked her whole life for, and somehow, the opportunity and the medal had been handed to Y/N. It didn't make sense.
She felt guilty for usurping that chance from her best friend, even if it was for sure that Cassie would make it onto the Olympic team in 2026 (It definitely wasn't for sure, but Y/N had to tell herself something to stymie the overwhelming contrition that flooded her every time she thought of Cassie getting fourth place at Nationals). Furthermore, she felt guilty for being where she was now, with so much less experience than her competitors.
Most people started ice skating at five or six. That was when Y/N had gotten her first pair of skates too, but she'd abandoned the sport until she was sixteen; until Cassie had graduated from the junior division to the senior, and had started seriously competing. Y/N had only started doing it as a joke, as a way to release tension from schoolwork and AP tests, but it had evolved into something else. Slowly, she'd realized that she actually enjoyed it, that skating on ice was akin to floating, or even flying. And then it became her passion, and - eventually - her job.
Y/N was here now, in Beijing. She had an Olympic bronze medal, a team gold medal (if the doping investigations would ever conclude), and a new fanbase who were eager and willing to be influenced by her, which was terrifying, to say the least. She had all of this, along with an F1 driver sliding in her DMs and inviting her to races - she had everything Cassie had ever wanted.
It was all so amazing, so good... But why did it feel so bad?

“okay, i want you to know that this is very new to me, i don’t usually do this type of thing,” you said pointing back and forth between you and the young man in front of you.
“yeah, i don’t either, but pierre spoke very highly of you, so i just thought, why not?” he replied, giving you a smile, and it helped calm your nerves.
“same, every time you two hung out together he’d send me pictures of the two of you,” you chuckled, charles nodded.
“he sent me pictures of you as well!” his eyes widened as he laughed, “if i didn’t know any better i would’ve thought you two were the ones dating,”
“god no. i mean, he’s one of my closest friends but…” you shivered, “even for me he’s a little too much,”
this was your first blind date ever. your friend pierre had set you up with one of his friends from work, ferrari driver charles leclerc. from what pierre had told you about him, you knew that charles came from a good family, he seemed respectful and down to earth.
the restaurant you were at was a bit too fancy for your liking, but your undivided attention was on charles. he spoke so passionately about his job, sometimes struggling to find the right word to explain some new concept so you could understand it more easily.
“i am so sorry, i just realized i’ve been talking about myself nonstop all night. please, tell me about you,” he drank from his glass of wine as you smiled at him.
“don’t worry, it’s nice hearing you talk so passionately about something. as for me, i-” the sound of your phone interrupted you. this was the special ringtone you’d set up for sydney, your nanny, “i’m so sorry, i need to take this,” you apologized as you stood up, walking to a quiet corner of the restaurant.
“sydney?” you answered the call.
“mommy!” you heard you little boy’s loud squeal.
“theo, what are you doing up at this hour?”
“you not said g’night!” he stumbled on his words. your little man had just turned two about three weeks ago and was starting to say complete sentences.
“you didn’t say goodnight,” you corrected him, nodding to yourself as you heard him repeat it. “good job, baby. now, are you in bed? ready to go to sleep?”
“yes, mommy!” he yelled, and you had to move your phone away from your ear as you laughed.
“okay, let’s do it. goodnight, blankie,” you heard him say the words at the same time as you, “goodnight, stars. goodnight, moon. goodnight, sydney. goodnight, mommy. goodnight, theo,” you finished your nightly ritual.
“love mommy!” he said, and you nearly felt your eyes watering. it was still hard to comprehend it, you made that little boy. you poured blood, sweat and tears into bringing that little soul to life.
“i love you, too, theo. now, go to sleep, okay?” you cooed.
“okay, mommy,” he yawned.
“night, baby,” you whispered, letting them hang up first. you smiled, clutching the phone in your hand, turning around. your eyes widened as you saw charles standing behind you. “how much of that did you hear?” you sighed. this wasn’t how you’d been planning to tell him, but…
“just you saying goodbye,” he said, giving you a tight-lipped smile.
“okay, i guess we’re rushing things now. come on, let’s sit and i’ll tell you what that was all about,”
after you sat down you explained that you had a little two-year-old from a previous relationship, the father had never wanted to be part of theo’s life, which made charles’ blood boil.
“i’m surprised pierre didn’t mention him. he loves being theo’s uncle.” you smiled, charles’ eyes widened in surprise.
“that’s your theo?” he asked, you frowned at the question. “sorry, it’s just, i… i facetimed him a few weeks ago, and he was babysitting a boy, (y/h/c) hair, (y/e/c) eyes.” you nodded, that seemed like your theo. “he’s such a great little guy! from what i heard he’s the only one able to keep pierre on his toes,”
“that he is, that’s my little boy,” you raised your glass, as if you were toasting in his honor, before taking a small sip.
conversation flowed easily, you were surprised that he didn’t back away instantly after finding out you had a child.
“i had a really nice night,” he said as he walked you to your car. you nodded, smiling at him.
“me too. this went better than i expected,” you confessed, noticing the way charles’ shoulders relaxed.
“is it… is it too soon to ask when i can see you again?” he took a step close to you.
“it is, but, i liked you, so…” you half smiled, shrugging a shoulder. “i think i can let it slide this once,” you chuckled.
it took a few months for you to be one hundred percent sure that theo was ready to meet charles. you’d told your little man about him, saying that he was your friend and that he wanted to meet him.
he was a little apprehensive at first, but you explained you’d be going to the park and meet him and pierre there. that did the trick.
“where uncle p?” theo asked as you walked to the spot you’d agreed, his small hand wrapped around your index finger.
“he’s waiting for us, he and charles are already there, can you see them?” you pointed to where the two friends were standing.
“i see! mommy i see uncle p!” he tightened his hold on you, running to the two drivers. “uncle p!” theo yelled, letting go of you when you were only a few meters away.
“there’s my little guy!” pierre lifted the little boy in his arms. “how’ve you been, theo?”
“good! i saw you on tv!” he smiled. “i saw you too! red car!” he pointed at charles, who had a soft smile on his face. both drivers had just come back from a race the previous weekend. “down, uncle p, please,” theo asked and pierre put him down.
“did you like the race, theo?” charles asked, crouching in front of him. your heart was beating fast inside your chest. you’d really grown to like charles profoundly over the past months, and you both could see a future together.
“yeah! they go fast,” theo put his arms in front of him, as if he were holding a steering wheel, and started running around as he imitated the cars he heard on tv. you all laughed, and you watched as the three of them started talking about the cars, about racing, about the possibility that you and theo could join them for a grand prix weekend.
after about thirty minutes of the four of you playing in the park, it was pierre’s time to leave. you hugged the frenchman and thanked him for helping theo open up to charles. after two more hours of playing in the park, theo started feeling antsy, and charles noticed right away.
"i don't know about you guys, but i'm feeling a little hungry. would anyone like to join me for some pizza and spaghetti?" he remembered theo's favorite food. you smiled as you watched theo's eyes widen in surprise, nodding his head vigorously. now, you sat with theo in front of you, charles to your side as you all waited for your food to arrive. the two of them were talking about everything their minds could think of, sometimes leaving you out of the conversation for a few minutes. you didn’t mind, it was great knowing that theo felt at ease with charles after only knowing him for a few hours.
“mommy, mommy!” theo called for you, making you snap out of your thoughts, you looked at him, smiling instantly.
“yes, baby?” you asked.
“can cha play with me tonight? i wan’ show him my toys!” theo said before taking a sip of his lemonade. your eyes darted from your little boy, to charles, who placed a hand on your thigh, his action hidden by the table.
“w-well… we have to ask him, theo.” you panicked.
“cha, play with me?” theo asked, looking directly at charles, raising his head a little as he stuck his bottom lip out.
“if-if mommy says it’s okay,” you placed your hand on top of his, and he flipped it over so your palms were pressed against each other, lacing your fingers together.
“mommy, pleeeaseee?” theo begged, and it took everything in you not to melt instantly.
“okay, only for a little bit, though.”
-
“this my room!” theo stood on his tiptoes to turn on the light, his other hand clutching charles’.
charles’ eyes widened at the amount of red bull and alpha tauri merch that hung on the walls. posters, caps, everything.
“i think i might get fired if anyone sees me in here,” charles mumbled as theo ran around grabbing whatever he wanted to show charles.
the three of you were sitting on the floor, playing with the new paw patrol toy you got him a few weeks ago. at some point during the night, theo spilled juice over his clothes and you changed him into his favorite pjs, which he proudly showed to charles, they were a kid-size replica of a f1 race suit. after hours of playing, theo yawned, rubbing his eyes as he leaned to his right, resting against charles’ arm.
“‘m tired,” theo whispered between yawns as charles looked at you with wide eyes.
“do you want me to tuck you in?” you asked, leaning in, your fingers rubbing against his cheek and moving his hair away from his face. he visibly relaxed under your touch, his small hands wrapping around charles’ arm.
“cha,” he said.
“yes, theo?” charles butted in as he heard his new nickname.
“cha tucks me in,” theo demanded, eyes shut as he nuzzled against the driver’s arm. you both looked at each other, a huge grin on charles’ face. he raised his eyebrows, asking for permission. shyly, you nodded.
it was like a switch had been flipped inside charles, he instantly knew what to do. holding theo close to his chest as he stood up. whispering soft words in the little boy’s ear as he walked him to his bed. once theo’s head was resting against the pillows of his car-themed bed, he made grabby hands, frowning.
charles turned to you, and you handed him theo’s blanket. charles wrapped it around theo’s frame, pulling the rest of the covers up as well.
“g’night,” theo whimpered. you’d thought he’d already fallen asleep, but he still had enough energy to say goodnight.
“do you want to teach charles how to say goodnight?” you asked, kneeling next to theo as charles sat on the bed. theo nodded, leaning on his side, slightly opening one eye.
“say as me,” theo said, you chuckled, saying the sentence correctly, “repeat after me,”
“okay,” charles smiled.
“goodnight, blankie. goodnight, stars. goodnight, moon. goodnight, mommy. goodnight, theo. goodnight, cha.” charles repeated the words, and once they finished, your little boy yawned, falling asleep instantly.
after staring at theo for a few minutes, making sure he was fast asleep, charles helped you up, holding your hand as you left the room. as soon as the door was shut, you felt his hands on your face, his lips against yours in a fiery kiss.
“i want in. i’m all in. i want this, every day, for the rest of my life.”
-
and now, six months later, your little family arrived at the chalet you rented for the holidays and for theo's birthday. in just two days your baby boy was turning three.
"this is so cool!" you smiled as you heard theo's high-pitched voice. "i want to play in the snow!” he yelled.
“in a minute, champ. first we have to unload everything from the car and bring it inside, can you help me with that?” charles asked, and theo nodded from his spot in the backseat.
“yeah, i’m strong,” he said as he flexed his muscles, making you laugh.
after you settled in and unpacked everything, theo dragged you and charles out of the chalet and into the snow. he fell dramatically, spreading his arms and legs, making a snow angel.
“cha! help me up!” theo raised his arms, looking at charles. even though his speech was a little better, he still held on to the nickname he gave to charles when they first met.
“please?” you reminded him, lifting an eyebrow.
“cha, can you help me up, please?” theo repeated, charles ran to him, hoisting him up from the snow. “look!”
“it’s theo’s angel,” charles said, and theo leaned his head against charles’.
“you make an angel! and mommy too!” he turned around, seeing you taking a picture of the two of them. “mommy!”
“sorry, baby, you two were looking so cute,” you walked to them and kissed theo’s cold, chubby cheek.
“okay, now i take one of you two!” theo said and he started shifting in charles’ arms. charles put him down and theo extended his hands. after handing him your phone and explaining to him how to take it, theo ran back. charles put his arms around you, you leaned into his side. “i got it! mommy, cha, i did it!” he rushed to you and showed you the pictures he took. as you would expect from a (nearly) three-year-old, some were cropped, in some you could only see the snow, and one was perfect.
“how about a picture us three?” charles suggested. theo smiled brightly, you picked him up as charles extended his arm.
“say cheese,” theo instructed, making you laugh just as charles pressed his finger against the screen.

the day before theo’s birthday, you drove to a kid-friendly resort, where theo could play with other kids and learn the basics of skiing. charles’ family was arriving on christmas morning, and you’d all made plans to go up to the mountains. but first, you had to make sure that theo felt comfortable, so you signed him up online for a lesson.
“okay, theo, let’s go, the lesson’s about to start,” you crouched in front of him, making sure his jacket was secure around him. “are you sure you don’t want me to come with you?” you asked.
“i’m a big boy, mommy! i can do it!”
“okay, well, charles and i will be right here, alright? if you need anything you can call for us, okay?” you reminded him as he nodded his head.
“bye, cha!” he waved his hand as charles arrived with the gloves that theo had left in the car. charles kneeled next to you, putting theo’s gloves on.
“go have fun, theo. we’ll be right here in case you need anything. you know i can come with you if you want,”
“mommy already said it! i can go alone!” he laughed.
“okay, i was just saying…” charles leaned in, pressing a kiss to theo’s head. “take care, theo. i love you,”
“hi! i’m sophie, that’s my dad!” a girl around five years old approached you, and she pointed to the instructor. “he asked me to help theo today!” she smiled.
“that’s so nice, thank you sophie!” charles said.
“good luck, theo. we’ll be right here, okay?” you smiled at him.
“bye, mommy. bye, cha!” he waved his hand, even though he was still standing in front of you.
“we love you, theo. have fun!” you hugged him one last time.
“love you, mommy. love you, cha!” theo said as he and sophie rushed to where the rest of the kids were.
“why don’t you call him dad?” the girl asked. theo looked up at her. “the man, you called him cha.”
“yeah, mommy and cha!” theo nodded.
“you should call him dad, though. daddies feel bad when you don’t.”
“okay,” theo said just as the instructor called for everyone’s attention.
the rest of the day was filled with laughter, snow, and hot chocolate, and as you tucked theo in that night, you felt your eyes tearing up. he was turning three tomorrow. you thought back to that christmas eve, the day he was born. you were alone, scared, you had no one. but the second you heard him crying, the first moment the nurses placed him in your arms… you knew you’d be okay.
“i can’t believe he’s turning three tomorrow,” you sighed, resting your head on charles’ chest. theo was fast asleep in the room next door and you were feeling sleepy as the seconds passed.
“i know, i feel like it was yesterday when i first met him,” charles played with your hair. you nodded. “time goes by so fast. next thing we know he’ll be off to college,” charles said.
“i love you,” you felt so many emotions at the same time. nostalgia about theo growing up, nervous about theo meeting charles’ family for the first time, thankful for having someone as marvelous and wonderful as charles by your side.
it might seem cliche, but you fell asleep with a smile on your face.
-
“happy birthday to you,” you and charles sang as you walked into theo’s room, holding a birthday cake. “happy birthday to you,” you sat on theo’s bed, charles kneeling on the floor as he ran his fingers through theo’s hair. the boy’s eyes felt heavy as he blinked. “happy birthday, dear theo.” you giggled as theo sat up on the bed, wide eyes darting from you, to charles, to the cake in front of him. “happy birthday to you,” you both finished singing as theo pulled charles off the floor. charles moved the pillows aside, sitting against the headboard with theo on his lap.
“make a wish, theo,” charles said, you both watched as theo closed his eyes, frowning as he thought about the perfect wish. he gasped, eyes wide open as he blew the candles. you cheered for him, setting the cake on the bedside table so you could hold you little boy in your arms.
“happy birthday, my theo. mommy loves you so much,” you held him tight.
“thank you, mommy! i love you,” you felt his lips against your cheek, and it took everything in you not to cry at the wholesomeness of it all.
“my turn, my turn,” you heard charles shuffling around on the bed, felt his arm around you, the other one around theo as the boy wrapped his small hands around charles’ neck. “happy birthday, little theo. mommy and i have a whole day planned just for you. i love you,” charles said.
“love you, daddy!” theo mumbled against charles’ neck.
you both froze for a few seconds, looking at each other with wide eyes. you couldn’t panic for too long, though, because soon, theo was too enthralled by the idea of a birthday cake just for him, and all the activities you’d planned for him.
throughout the rest of the day, and you didn’t know where theo had gotten it from, he kept calling charles ‘daddy’. that night, on your way back to the chalet, theo fell asleep in the backseat, which gave you the perfect opportunity to talk to charles.
“charles, i…” you started, suddenly panicking. he gripped your hand, which he always held whenever you were in the car. “i swear, i don’t know where he got it from. i-”
“hey, it’s okay. i’ve… secretly been waiting for this moment for a few months now,” he confessed. “do you remember the first day i met theo?” he asked, you nodded, feeling the pad his thumb rubbing against the back of your hand. “i meant it back then, and i do now. i’m all in. i’m never letting go of you two.” he brought your hand to his lips, kissing your knuckles.
“how are you real?” you smiled.
-
“mommy! daddy! santa!” theo’s excited squeals woke you up. you felt charles’ arms tightening around you, his face pressed against your neck. a small body climbed in bed with you, jumping up and down on the mattress. “daddy! wake up! mommy!” theo grunted, falling to his knees as he snaked his way between you two. “santa came!”
“santa!?” charles asked, jumping up from the bed. “what are we waiting for! come on, theo, let’s see what santa left!” charles opened his arms and theo jumped. you heard their footsteps walking away, you shook your head as you finally opened your eyes. you stretched your arms over your head, standing up and sliding your feet in your slippers.
“thanks for waking me up,” you said, crossing your arms over your chest as you descended the stairs.
charles and theo looked at you with wide eyes.
“sorry, mommy, look!” theo pointed to all the presents you’d placed under the tree the owners of the chalet provided.
“whoa, theo! you must’ve behaved really good this year,” you approached them, sitting on the floor next to them.
he started opening up all of the presents, his joy growing more with each one. once the initial euphoria of all the new toys died down a bit, you left your two men in the living room setting up the battery car that charles got him - a red ferrari, obviously,- and went to make some hot chocolate for everyone, making extra since charles’ family were arriving in about an hour.
“mommy, look!” you heard from behind you, you turned around to see theo wearing a new onesie, a replica of charles’ racing suit. theo was sitting on the red car, which charles was controlling with a remote.
“oh, my goodness.” you laughed, “theo! look at you!” you smiled, looking at your little boy, with a wide smile on your face.
“daddy got me this!” he patted his torso.
“that was so nice of him, did you say thank you?”
“thank you, daddy!” theo climbed out of the car and hugged charles, who lifted him up as they walked to you.
“you’re welcome, theo,” charles placed a kiss on theo’s head, then one on your forehead.
“we’re here!” you heard from the entrance of the house.
“come here, theo,” you grabbed your son as charles walked to his mom, hugging her. “that’s pascale, charles’ mom,” you whispered in his ear, theo nodded. “that’s arthur,” you pointed to the youngest leclerc, “and that’s lorenzo. they’re his brothers,”
“i don’t have brothers,” theo said, you nodded.
“you don’t,”
“will i ever have any brothers?” theo asked.
“well… maybe, in the future,” you nodded, watching charles embracing his brothers. “do you want a brother? or a sister?”
“yeah,” theo leaned his head on your shoulder.
after the introductions were made, the rest of the leclercs presented theo with gifts they’d brought just for him, hoping to get him to open up more easily.
“daddy, look!” theo called, making arthur choke on his drink. “it’s a toy car! like the one santa gave me! i wanna play in the snow, please?” theo asked, you stood from your spot next to him and held his hand.
“come on, let’s go change your clothes. we’ll be right back,” you said, walking upstairs with theo.
did you panic and left charles alone to deal with it? maybe. but it felt right to let him be the one to tell his family about his plans for the future.
“so… daddy?” arthur smirked. receiving a punch in the arm from lorenzo. “ow!”
“charles, this…” his mom said.
“i know, i know this is a huge step for me, for (y/n), for theo. but i- i fell in love with him the moment i met him. they’re the best thing that could ever have happened to me. and (y/n), she… she’s everything i’ve ever needed, all i ever wanted. i’m happy. we’re all happy.”
“my boy,” pascale walked to charles, embracing her son. “i’m so proud of you. so happy.”
“daddy!” theo said as you walked down the stairs. “we can use the car santa left and the car uncle king gave me and make a race!”
“uncle king?” charles asked, furrowing his eyebrows. theo nodded, pointing to arthur.
“like king arthur,” theo explained. he loved to hear that story before bedtime. “uncle king.”
“i’m keeping him,” arthur said.
the three leclerc brothers and your son were playing in the snow, burying charles under a mountain of snow, making a snowman.
“i’ve never seen him happier,” pascale said as she stood next to you.
“he’s been wonderful these past few months. and from the first date, when i told him about theo, he didn’t back away. instead he just seemed more excited to meet him, hang out with him. and when they met, they… they just clicked, you know?” you said.
-
“theo, i have one last surprise for you,” you walked in his bedroom as he was putting away all the toys you gave him for his birthday and for christmas.
“another one?” he asked.
“yes, and i need your help with something, are you in?”
“yes, mommy!” you now five-year-old son smiled.
“okay. give me your hand,” you instructed, holding his hand against your stomach. “there’s a baby in here,”
“a baby?” his eyes went wide. “mommy, why did you eat a baby?”
“no, theo,” you laughed, kissing his head, “this is where babies live before they’re ready to come out into the world,” you noticed an adorable frown in his face as he tried to process what you’d just said. “don’t worry, theo, we’ll explain everything as time goes by and you’ll understand it when you’re older, okay?” theo nodded. “okay, now, i need your help telling daddy,”
“he doesn’t know?” he gasped
“no, you’re the first person i wanted to tell. i know how much you’ve wanted a sibling for so long,” you rubbed your thumb against his cheek.
about twenty minutes later, theo’s ready for bed, you nod your head encouragingly.
“daddy, goodnight!” theo called, and a few seconds later charles came in to his room.
“we’re ready for bed?” charles asked.
“yes!” theo smiled, holding the stuffed dragon that charles gave him yesterday.
“okay, let’s do this,” charles said sitting next to you on the bed, his hand holding yours, playing with the ring on your finger.
“goodnight, stars. goodnight, moon. goodnight, mommy. goodnight, daddy. goodnight, theo.” the three of you said.
“goodnight, baby.” you and theo finished, charles frowned looking from your son, to you, to the smile on your face.
“baby?” he asked, you nodded, feeling small tears in your eyes.
who would’ve thought, that theo’s sleep ritual would help you tell charles one of the biggest new of his life.
you felt his arms around you protectively all night, and while charles was sleeping you could hear him mumbling in his sleep… “baby”.

THROWN TO THE WOLVES (III)
Two days to regenerate did not feel like enough. You spent them all in your bedroom, mostly sleeping. You really wanted to work out some daily routine for yourself but there was not much else to do and you were afraid to wander off to walk around the fortress all by yourself. You had a feeling you were not allowed to do that anyway.
“Don’t I have any duties? Meetings?” You asked Astra and Cara on the last day of your freedom as you were teaching them how to do hair and make-up.
“No, na-baroness. Those duties are Baron’s,” Cara told you.
“But he has no wife,” you furrowed your brows.
“If he had one, she would share the duties with him. But na-baroness cannot, my Lady,” Astra added.
“So, I’m free to do whatever?” You asked.
Even as a Princess of Caladan you had more duties. Your father was sending you for the meetings to schools, to the theatre events, not to mention all the banquets with the ambassadors and the nobility.
On the other hand, your new position did not surprise you – the Baron did not treat you like a proper Harkonnen family member. You were nothing but a trophy and an incubator for his nephew’s future heir.
“Na-baroness is allowed to the library and the relaxation area,” Cara nodded her head.
“And the dining room, of course,” Astra whispered.
However, you still had not been in the dining room since your wedding party. All the meals had been brought to you and you would eat them on Feyd’s balcony. At first you had been hesitant but you had been told that there were shields protecting the people living at the palace from being exposed to the atmosphere’s pollution.
And indeed, you didn’t feel like you were choking on a slimy liquid whenever you were on that balcony. It still felt weird to eat food in black-and-white. It felt as if it had less taste for sure.
Feyd was not inside his bedroom when you were walking through it and he was not eating his meals alongside you. Cara and Astra had informed you that he wished to stay away from you until the fight.
Not that you missed him.
You knew that tomorrow you would have to face him and his desires again. If he would win the fight, of course. But Cara and Astra had already told you he would always win because every fight in the arena was fixed for him to win. Other gladiators were drugged and he had all sorts of devices to keep him safe.
Cara and Astra were very talkative once they felt safe around you and it didn’t take long for them. It was the first time they were thanked for doing their jobs, the first time they had names, the first time they earned some dignity for themselves.
The Harkonnen slaves were bred to be this way. Slaves were giving birth to even more slaves. They had no mothers, no fathers, no names and no humanity. Their sad and painful lives were often short because of the violent and impatient men like your husband who would slay them for fun without any consequences. All it took was to say something wrong or deliver the bad news, drop something or breathe too loud.
You wanted to change their fate once you’d become the Baroness but you knew that it would be a long time until then… if it would happen at all. And even if you’d survive enough to get that title eventually, perhaps by that time you’d already change so much that you’d start to enjoy this cruel system for your own benefit. Not to mention Feyd would probably never allow you to make a change like that.
You had to become a Harkonnen, there was no doubt about it. But you also did not want this new life to kill every single good trait in you. In fact, maybe you needed those good traits to actually rise above those monsters surrounding you. Maybe the remaining goodness in you was not a weakness but an advantage.
“Thank you,” you thanked the girls and stood up to take a better look at yourself in the mirror. They put make-up on you a little clumsily but the effect was satisfying. They were quick learners. However, the lipstick they used was black and the eyeshadow bright red. You didn’t have to ask, you assumed that was na-baron’s order. “Thank you, you’re so talented, my girls,” you told them and they smiled shyly at each other.
You approached them and placed a kiss upon Astra’s head and then Cara’s. They looked almost startled at the affection they had received. No one had kissed them like this before. Not even their mothers who had not really been allowed to raise them after all.
“I am very glad the Baron has assigned you two for me, you’re special,” you cooed to them and they giggled.
Oh, they would die for you already.
But it was easy with the girls like them. Winning them over was no victory for you to celebrate. Even women much more stupid than you would succeed at such an easy task.
Not that you were using Astra and Cara. You really liked them and felt sorry for them. You weren’t faking your affections but you were exaggerating them for sure.
You were certain that the Baron had told them to spy on you. But now you were also certain they would never tell him anything that would get you in trouble.
Because love makes people more loyal than fear – those were your father’s words. And you hated to remember them and you hated them for being so true. Because your father still hadn’t written you any letter. You didn’t want to look up to him. You didn’t want to make him proud. You just wanted to survive.
“Tomorrow, for the tournament,” you told your girls, “I think I will look very pretty when you’ll do my make-up,” you assured them and they sighed with relief. “My hair, though…” you sighed and they looked down. “It’s okay. We will think of something.”
Tumblr media
After breakfast you were asked to follow the guards who took you to the medic. He was already waiting for you with all sorts of syringes and a smile that pretended to be kind but it made creeps go down your body.
“Na-baroness,” he bowed down so low that it was almost funny. You still remembered his lack of respect towards you before you had held this title. “How are you feeling?” He asked and you laid down on the examination table already prepared for you.
“You’re asking physically, am I right?” You wanted to make sure. Of course you were aware he wouldn’t be interested in your mental state.
“What else would I ask for, my Lady?” He seemed to be confused at the question and sat next to you.
“I’m feeling… tired,” you admitted and he hummed as he examined your body. This time he was gentler and more careful. He didn’t tell you to remove your robe fully either.
“He’s going to do it again today,” you told him when he was staring at one of the faded bruises. “It hurts,” you added.
“I can give you something to regenerate faster, my Lady,” the medic nodded and you gritted your teeth.
Of course. It was easier than to tell Feyd-Rautha to be gentler.
You only nodded your head at him and then he proceeded with all injections and with drawing the blood from you.
“Are you taking your pills, my Lady?” He asked. “After every sexual intercourse?”
“Yes,” you answered and hissed at the feeling of the needle.
“It’s the last one today, I promise, my Lady,” he shushed you.
He was so calm and almost kind but so terrifyingly scary at the same time. You did not like that mix. You’d prefer him to be rude and rough, at least he’d be always honest with his intentions.
You knew that he was acting nice to make you trust him. As if you were that stupid. You decided to play his game, though. Perhaps it would be useful one day for him to think that you trust him.
“Does he get such injections, too? My husband?” You asked, innocently batting your eyelashes.
“Yes, na-baron’s getting them, too. And I run tests on him as well. It takes two people to create life,” the medic smiled at you.
“How does it work, exactly?” You sat up when he was done with you and he walked away to hide all the empty syringes and samples.
“We are making sure that all your eggs will be filled with the best genetic material and all of them will be able to only create boys, my Lady,” the medic told you.
“And later…?” You swallowed thickly. “After I give birth to an heir?”
He looked at you with… pity. It was not a good sign.
“Let’s not worry about that now, na-baroness,” he nodded his head. “You are free to go. It’s a big day today.”
Tumblr media
Astra and Cara were waiting for you in your bedroom already with a gown you had never seen before. Well, the word gown was an overstatement.
It was made of leather stripes that left very little to imagination and it reminded you more of the costumes that Feyd’s pets were wearing. You winced at the sight.
“What is this?” You asked with contempt.
“Na-baron requested for you to wear this, my Lady,” Astra looked down, nervously.
“I will not,” you shook your head and approached your wardrobe to search for something else.
“But, na-baroness…” Cara started. Her hands were shaking already.
“I will not wear this,” you approached Astra and took the hanger with the gown from her hands to throw it on the floor. “I am his wife. Not his whore,” you stated and went back to looking through the dresses.
“A-as you wish, my Lady…” Astra nodded and crouched down to pick the dress up and hang it in the wardrobe.
You didn’t blame her for having no courage to take it back to your husband.
It would be the first time you’d present yourself to the people of Giedi Prime. Ordinary people of this planet who would watch the tournament, not those important noble men and women who had been invited to your wedding. You were aware, thanks to Cara and Astra, that people were very interested in you and they already adored you because you were so different in the way you looked. If you played your cards right, you’d become the beloved na-baroness of the citizens.
You didn’t want to present yourself to them looking like Feyd-Rautha’s pet. You wanted to show them the dignified na-baroness you aspired to be one day.
At the same time, you didn’t want to make Feyd too angry. So you chose one of the dresses he had gifted you before. It was soft, red leather and it covered most of your body almost modestly but the cleavage was quite big.
“This will do,” you pointed at it and the girls nodded before approaching the hanger to remove the dress from it delicately.
You walked up to your vanity and looked through the jewellery. Dress like that was asking for a necklace. But then you spotted a black choker with a red stone and a few ornamented chains with smaller red stones dangling from them. It would cover your throat and fall down your neck so deliciously; you already made up your mind.
“With this,” you told your girls. “What do you think?”
“V-very pretty, my Lady,” Cara nodded, still scared about your change of outfit.
The dress fitted you perfectly. You wondered how they had known your size so well. The medic had measured you right before your wedding, it would be too late for them to prepare those dresses so fast unless hundreds of people worked on them. No, the most possible scenario was that your father had sent them your measurements earlier as they most likely had requested amongst the other things.
They had requested a lot. Your portrait, your health statistics, your family’s tree for the past ten generations, the sample of your voice. And in return they hadn’t even sent you Feyd’s picture. You still were getting angry at the memory of how humiliating the whole process had been.
When the dress, shoes and jewellery were placed on your body, the maids worked on the make-up. This time you chose black eyeshadow and red lipstick to match the gown’s fabric.
“What about the hair, my Lady?” Astra asked, worryingly. “Last night we were practising a little on a wig,” she informed you.
“Where did you get a wig from?” You asked and chuckled.
“We stole it,” Cara whispered and you raised an eyebrow. “There are a few wigs in this fortress, my Lady. Previous Baronesses liked to wear them for special occasions to look more pretty. Baron Harkonnen’s mother for example,” she explained.
“We saw her having hair in the old pictures,” Astra joined, “so we thought she had to have a wig. We decided to find it so we can practise.”
“You did that for me?” You looked at them with disbelief, visibly moved.
“Y-yes, na-baroness,” Cara nodded. “The wig… Its structure is different from your hair, my Lady. But we learnt how to do braids.”
“And how to attach decorations,” Astra smiled gently.
You reached out to hold their hands and squeeze them lovingly.
“My girls,” you told them and they giggled. “But look,” you glanced at yourself in the mirror. There was something very attractive about your hair loose in that outfit. It was making you look less proper and more raw, savage even. Especially in that make-up and outfit. It was a mix of a dignified person and a barbarian from the pictures in your old anthropology books. “I think I will go with my hair loose,” you decided.
If you were the only person on Giedi Prime with hair – except for your two poor previous maids – you wanted to show it off proudly.
“But keep going with your training, I might not always want to go out like this,” you told your girls.
“Yes, my Lady,” they bowed down.
Someone knocked upon the door and Cara went over to open it.
“Is na-baroness ready?” The guard asked.
“Yes, she is.”
“We are ordered to take her to na-baron before his fight,” he informed her.
You sighed and fixed your hair for the last time in the mirror. You didn’t know why he wanted to see you before the fight after avoiding you for two whole days. Perhaps he wanted to get riled up even more. That was probably the reason why the dress given to you was so revealing.
You couldn’t wait to disappoint him.
You nodded your head at Astra and Cara and you walked outside to follow one of the guards. He led you outside the fortress and put you in a vehicle waiting for you with another guard and a driver inside.
“They will take you to the arena, my Lady,” he informed you and bowed down before walking away.
You nodded your head and coughed already from the outside’s air. Inside the vehicle the air was a bit better but still not as clear as in the fortress.
“Na-baroness better get used to,” the guard sitting next to you told you, “there are no shields in the arena.”
You only nodded at him and cleared your throat.
The ride was short because other vehicles waiting in the line were moving away to make a way for you. Through the window you saw faces of the Harkonnen people staring at you with big eyes.
“They cannot see you, my Lady. Only you can see them,” the guard told you and you nodded once again. “They are wondering if you are inside the vehicle,” he added.
“Can’t I make myself visible to them?”
“What for, my Lady?” He asked, surprised.
“To wave at them,” you answered like it was the most obvious thing in the whole world.
“That is not a custom, na-baroness,” he nodded his head gently, trying very hard not to laugh at you.
The vehicle entered the underground parking lot for the vehicles belonging to the top-priority members of the family and your guard helped you to get out of it.
Your father never liked the unnecessary splendour and all those little privileges that could get into one’s head. The Harkonnens couldn’t disagree more. Even treated terribly by your husband and his Uncle, you still felt superior with all those people bowing down all the time and being able to walk around places where only the VIPs were allowed. Feyd could do anything he wanted to you but to most people on this planet you were untouchable and unreachable. Your one glance could make your guard behead someone. It was a dangerous amount of power that you had always dreamt of. You never wanted to abuse it and become a tyrant, but you wanted to hold it.
Getting used to this part of The Harkonnen culture would come easy for you, surely.
But the closer you were to the room where Feyd had been waiting for you, the less superior you felt. It was difficult to tell if you actually hated him or the fact he was making you feel scared.
You were led through a dark corridor, seeing cells of other gladiators with the doors half-open and the medics injecting drugs into their bodies. You had already been told by your servants that Feyd’s opponents were drugged. You couldn't count on him to die in the arena. Sadly.
The guard finally stopped in front of a tall, black door and he knocked upon them before pushing them open.
You followed him inside, trying to keep your posture straight. Feyd was in the middle of the room, surrounded by the servants who were showing off blades to him and painting stripes on his muscular body with black paint. His three whores were there, too. They hissed at the sight of you and that was what made him turn around and lay his bright eyes on you.
You feared he’d get angry seeing you in a different outfit but he only chuckled contemptuously.
“My beautiful pet,” he beckoned you over and squinted his eyes, “haven’t seen you in a while,” he continued. “Why aren’t you wearing my gift?” He asked when you were standing right in front of him already, trying to keep your poker face on.
“I’m not a whore,” you informed him casually. His pets gave you hateful looks and he laughed at you, showing off his black teeth. You moved slightly out of discomfort.
He stopped laughing all of a sudden and became so serious that it seemed unnatural to change his mood so fast. He approached you, closing the small distance between your bodies. You could feel his hard muscles through the soft leather fabric of your dress. His fingers traced the longest chain dangling off of your choker and he let them go lower and lower until he reached the hem of your cleavage.
“Hungry, my Lord?” You dared to ask him. When he was turned on, it was easier to test him and play with him. He was letting his guard down a little when he wanted to fuck desperately.
Such a scary, brutal man. Yet so desperate and pathetic sometimes.
He looked up and met your gaze. There was an animalistic desire in his eyes as his pupils darkened.
“I wouldn’t say such things if I were you,” he warned you, his voice even raspier than usual.
You smirked at him, taking a deep breath in to calm yourself down but it made his eyes drop down again at the sight of your breasts rising up and down.
“Get out of here,” he gritted his teeth. “I’ll ask for you later.”
“My Lord,” you bowed down ironically and turned around to join your guard who was waiting for you by the door already.
Tumblr media
You were taken to the lift and all the way up to join the Baron on the balcony. It was placed on one of the corners of the triangular arena and it was protecting the VIP members from the polluted atmosphere to some degree. The average Giedi Prime citizen had no such privilege and had to take one of the seats in the overcrowded auditorium.
The Baron hummed at the sight of you. You bowed down and he nodded his head. You were given binoculars by the Baron’s servant and you stood by the Baron’s left side as his servant was already standing on his right. Your guard remained in the back alongside other guards.
You watched the audience through your binoculars and you noticed that lots of people were actually looking right back at you. You smiled to yourself.
“How to make them like me?” You asked the Baron.
“What?” He looked at you, surprised and you moved the binoculars away from your face to look at him.
Standing so close to him and taking a better look at his pathetic form, he somehow became less scary to you. Of course his one order could end your life. But it was his power that was dangerous, not himself.
“How to make the people of Giedi Prime like me? Any tips, my Lord?” You repeated your question.
“Their opinions don’t matter, baroness,” he let out a laugh and you looked away, pretending that you found something interesting somewhere else.
You didn’t like the way he addressed you. Everyone knew that the title of baroness belonged to a woman who would be brave enough to be his wife. The very thought made you sick.
The fight started and you sat down on the chair prepared for you next to the Baron. Feyd-Rautha was announced as the audience cheered enthusiastically. His enemies were greeted with the sound of booing and whistling. Through your binoculars you could see that they were barely standing on their feet, drugged and dulled.
“What is the point of this?” You asked the Baron. “It’s not a real fight. It’s a show.”
“For now, yes. Until he is fully ready. I want the people to see him as my natural successor,” he explained to you.
“I thought their opinions don’t matter,” you pointed out and the Baron laid his eyes on you.
“Let me expand my sentence, baroness. Their opinions don’t matter when it comes to whether we decide to keep you alive or not,” he smirked and went back to watching the fight as it had just begun.
Your heart skipped a beat at that statement. Everything started to make sense now. They would get rid of you after giving Feyd an heir because you would no longer be needed. You had to play your game right and buy yourself more time.
“If you get rid of me, my father will intervene,” you reminded him.
“Like he’s intervening now?” Baron chuckled to himself and you clenched your jaw at his words. You couldn’t argue with that.
“You will need more than one heir. What if he dies? It’s more than possible with the way you’re raising boys on this planet. It’s safer to have a few options. And daughters are useful, too, to make alliances. I am the best example,” you tried not to reveal how nervous you were while saying these things.
“Adorable,” Baron looked at you again. “You think I don’t know you’re trying to buy yourself more time?”
“No, I don’t think that. I know I’m being pretty obvious,” you gave him a fake smile.
“Give us one boy first and we’ll see. Anyway,” Baron went back to looking down. You pretended to do the same but you couldn’t focus. “The final decision will be Feyd’s. You are his.”
For some reason it made you a bit calmer now. Feyd was visibly attracted to you. You just had to play your game right. Perhaps become less rebellious but at the same time not too obedient – it would bore him. You already started to plot all the ways you could make him addicted to you.
“Oh, you think he won’t do it…” Baron’s voice brought you back to reality and you looked at him, confused. He was smiling ironically at you. “That boy killed his own mother. Don’t be so sure that he will think twice before getting rid of a woman who pushed out his brat. He would have already broken you if I hadn’t told him not to. I am the one to keep you safe here, baroness,” Baron gave you a wicked smile. “And I’m not going to lie, it was tempting to let him break you. It would help his reputation if he fucked his first wife to death on the wedding night.”
The blood in your veins immediately turned cold at that revelation. You brought the binoculars closer to your face and observed Feyd in the arena.
He was having fun down there, playing and teasing with his opponents. Even if they were drugged, he was still giving a show. He was an amazing and brutal fighter. In black-and-white, with nothing but murder in his eyes and a psychotic smirk on his face – you had never seen him more terrifying. Yes, now you could see him slaughtering his own mother.
Then, suddenly, one of the gladiators stabbed your husband. Feyd reacted immediately and fought back but his opponent managed to hurt him a few more times before getting slayed. At the sight of the bleeding wounds, even you hissed out of pain, despite hating the man who had been hurt. The Baron chuckled, though.
“Why are you allowing this?” You asked him as you put the binoculars away, not being able to watch this anymore. “He’s your nephew, he’s in pain. Didn’t you put him down there to win?” You couldn't understand. “He almost got killed.”
“Barely,” he laughed. “And he loves the pain anyway.”
“Who would love to get stabbed like that?” You shook your head.
“A boy who had been trained to like it since he was a child,” he looked so deep into your eyes with the most serious expression on his hideous face that it sent chills down your spine.
A long silence occurred between you two.
“What have you done to him…?” You whispered eventually as your lips opened a little in disbelief. The Baron only chuckled and went back to looking through his binoculars.
You did not. You put yours on your lap and you looked away, trying to process everything you had just found out.
Feyd-Rautha was nothing but a hurt boy. He was a tool in his uncle’s hands, a brutal guard dog, a killing machine. Most likely manipulated to kill his own mother, too. Strapped of all humanity and emotions. He was not your oppressor. He was his uncle’s victim as much as you were.
Feyd-Rautha was not your enemy. It was the Baron.
It was the Baron who would in the end decide your fate. Feyd would do what his uncle tells him. You had to make the Baron find you likeable, not your husband. This option was the safest but it was also giving you the least amount of control.
You could also make Feyd-Rautha your pet and turn him against his uncle. It would be risky and it would take lots of time, lots of mistakes and lots of disappointments. But in the end it would give you power.
The cheering audience and fireworks made you look down again. Feyd was holding his bloody blade up and yelling in triumph as all his opponents were laying lifeless behind him.
He was terrifying but you couldn’t help but feel sorry for him now. He was just a hurt boy, you tried to remember.
Tumblr media
There was a feast after a fight but Feyd was not sitting beside you. You asked your girls to find out where he was and they informed you that he was with his pets. You assumed he was keeping his promise to fuck a whore before taking care of you in order not to break you.
You focused on the food in front of you. You had to admit that the food on Giedi Prime was delicious. The Baron loved to eat. As everyone was able to see.
From the corner of your eye, you watched Count Rabban sitting next to his uncle. You wondered about him. He hadn’t spoken to you even once after your introduction on the first day. Was he an important piece of this puzzle? Did you have to worry about him, too?
Then you felt someone watching you as intensively as you were watching the Harkonnens. You turned your head around and spotted a woman with a veiled face. She had to be a Bene Gesserit sister. You went back to your food and ignored her. You didn’t want any Bene Gesserit around you.
Growing up with Lady Jessica made you allergic to these women and their mending. You hated how much influence they had in most of the Empire.
“My Lady,” one of the guards approached you and leaned in to whisper in your ear, “na-baron wants to see you. I am supposed to walk you to his chambers after you’re done with your meal.”
You nodded your head. How considerate it was of your husband to let you finish your meal first, you thought. Perhaps the medic actually had told him something about treating you too rough. He hadn’t looked very pleased with some of the marks on your body either. Maybe it was making the whole process of controlling your cycle more difficult when you were too weakened.
You didn’t hurry with your meal at all. And when you finished it, you drank some of the wine and wiped your hands and the corners of your mouth clean. When you stood up, Astra approached you and reapplied your red lipstick discreetly.
“Thank you,” you smiled at her and nodded at the guard before following him outside the room.
On your way to face Feyd again, you tried to remember what you had realised earlier – that he was just a hurt boy. In many ways his upbringing did not differ much from your slave girls’ one. And in many ways you could work on him in the similar ways as you worked on them. Only that he would not be so easy to win over.
You fixed the choker on your neck and nodded at the guard. He opened the door and you walked inside Feyd’s bedroom. An odd feeling filled your body – since his and yours chambers had been a place where you’d spend most of your time so far, you almost felt as if you were finally home after a long day.
And after spending a whole afternoon with the Baron, Feyd’s presence was almost comforting in comparison to his uncle. He was the devil you knew.
He was waiting for you on the balcony wearing nothing but his pants. He was shirtless and watching the fireworks. You joined him carefully, not wanting to startle him and trigger some violent reaction.
“You’ve missed the feast,” you said and dared to touch his arm with your fingertips. He moved away rapidly as if your touch was poisonous.
“My feast has just arrived,” he licked his lips at the sight of you. “Get out of this dress if you don’t want me to tear it off of you,” he ordered and you nodded.
You began undressing clumsily as he watched. You weren’t used to undressing yourself on your own without any maid’s help. Finally, it dropped down on the balcony’s floor and you crouched down to take it and throw it inside the room.
Your hands moved up to find the clasp of your choker.
“Keep that pretty thing on,” Feyd said and licked his lips as you stopped. He approached you and turned you around to press you to the railing. You were facing the courtyard and you could see people walking through the corridors of the fortress through the windows. You also could hear distant laughter and conversations from the dining room.
“How did you like the fight?” Feyd asked you, standing so close behind you that you felt his breath on your neck. He gathered your hair in his hand and threw it on one side so he could bite your bare shoulder blade. His hands grabbed your breasts.
“Does my opinion matter?” You asked.
“My servants told me that people of Giedi Prime are pleased with their new na-baroness,” your husband changed the subject. “They love your hair,” he added and you felt his face burying in your hair as he sniffed you like a dog. “And they love your breasts,” his fingers pulled on your nipples. “All men on Giedi Prime want to fuck you, my na-baroness,” his lips brushed your ear.
It obviously turned him on that you were such a prize.
“But only you can do that, my Lord,” you breathed out and he froze for a moment.
Feyd grabbed you by your arms and turned you around to face him again. He was looking at you as if he was trying to read you.
“You’re different tonight,” he noticed.
You chewed on the inside of your cheek. It would be easier to play those games with him if he was more stupid. You had to come up with some lie.
“I changed my opinion about you after seeing you fight in that arena,” you batted your eyelashes and reached out your hand to caress his hard abs. He flinched at your delicate touch way more than he had flinched at the cuts he had received during the fight. Speaking of them, you moved your hands to the fresh wounds and caressed them, too. “Now I know I was given to the real warrior,” you continued.
“Stop it,” he grabbed your wrists and pushed your hands away. His jaw was clenched and he looked angry, yet confused. “I don’t like it,” he said.
You really felt sorry for him at that moment. You couldn’t imagine what the Baron had to be doing to him to make him this way. Any sign of delicacy or affection was confusing and angering him.
You had a lot of work to do. He often threatened to break your body. But you would break his mind.
“Forgive me, my Lord,” you bit on your lower lip.
“Turn around,” he ordered and you obeyed.
You hated yourself for actually being a little excited at the idea of being fucked on that balcony, facing the courtyard, with the possibility of someone looking out of the window and seeing you.
Tumblr media
Feyd was tired after the fight and after using his pets before he dealt with you. Three rounds was all that he could give before being completely knocked out. You watched him sleep beside you and for a moment you wanted to go back to your own bedroom but then you decided to stay. He had also been more gentle on that night than on the previous ones. Of course he had still been rough but it was bearable. Or perhaps you were starting to get used to it.
You gasped as you almost forgot to take your contraception. You left the bed and approached his desk to open the black box and swallow one of the white pills inside.
You closed the box gently and took off your choker to put it on the desk before going back to your husband’s bed. You pulled the duvet up to cover you both and you laid on your side to watch Feyd’s profile and listen to his heartbeat.
You moved your hand up carefully and tried to caress his cheek but he flinched and winced so you took your hand away and sighed in defeat.
A plan started to form inside your head as you were drifting off to sleep:
Feyd-Rautha – to break him
The Baron – to get rid of him
Count Rabban – a friend or an enemy…?

CHAPTER ONE
THE DARK PRINCE & DESERT ROSE
“What did I instruct you to do?”
The voices around you were fuzzy. There was no amount of energy in the world that could keep your eyes open as they grew louder and louder in command.
There was a fight in the dead of nightfall, you could recall that much. Chani woke you up, rushing from Paul’s tent to yours and telling you to grab as much stuff as you could. The smell of sand, the smell of your home, burning around you was intense and thick.
She grabbed your hand, telling you to stay close, but she underestimated how horrible the attack would become. It was the Harkonnen’s doing. Firing away at your camp in the middle of the night was not their style, but, in guerilla warfare, there were no rules.
It was conquer or be conquered.
Paul did his best to keep the Harkonnen soldiers away, however, they were becoming too much for even him to handle alone.
“Get far away from here. Stay out of their line of sight.” You remember your sister saying. Her hands roughly on your exposed shoulders before placing a carved blade in your hands. “Fight like hell if you need to. Do not let them take you!”
“But—“
Chani shook her head. “Do as I say.” She ducked at the sound of a nearby explosion. Her blue eyes grew wider in fear for her sister’s life. “Go, NOW!”
You had to have run away, you thought. That’s why your legs felt as if you had been sprinting for years with no rest. That was all you could remember, everything else proving to be foggy in your mind. Your arms were held above your head, shackled to a cold concrete wall against your barely clothed body. There was a slight trickle of something running down your temple, so much so that it tickled against your skin. Was that blood?
“You instructed us to extract the Fremen girl from her camp, Na-baron—“
“Without harm!” Someone hollered, a man, shutting down his subjects immediately. You felt your head fling backward, a hand on your neck exposing your face to the light. “She is bleeding. Her face has been sliced and it was at your hand.”
Your eyes flutter open, getting a small glimpse at who was manhandling you. His powdered skin appeared smooth. Eyes dark and brooding as you matched his gaze. There had been whispers on Arrakis about the Baron’s nephew. His mental instability mixed with his thirst for blood proved him to be one of the most ruthless of the Harkonnen. Completely surpassing any reputation his family laid for centuries before.
Then it clicked for you.
You must be at the mercy of the Harkonnen clan, the very entities who had oppressed your people for hundreds of years. There was plenty of speculation about what they did to Fremen women in their clutches, things so horrific that you prayed you would die before confirming the suspicions.
“The rat took out four of our men, your highness. Stabbed one of our soldiers through their shield.”
With a swift motion, your head was released from the man’s grasp. Outstretching his arm, his blade pierced the pale skin of his soldier in the throat. “GET OUT!” He screamed, the few soldiers retreating to the exit of wherever you were being held.
The room now only held the two of you. Your senses and adrenaline suddenly reignited as fright tried to set in. The pale man turned himself to face you once more. Tears brimmed your eyes and you tried your best to not allow them to fall. You had already been captured, you refused to appear any more weak in his presence. If he knew how scared you were of him, it would only fulfill the sick obsession he had with your people.
His movements were snakelike as he approached you, setting the blade down nearby so both of his hands were free. You took in his physique, how he moved like a hunter and you were believed to be his prey. Based on your short encounter with him, you knew the rumors were true. That this nephew of the Baron would surely be a living nightmare for as long as you were alive and captive.
You possessed little mobility, your arms tied but your legs and torso free. With all of your strength, you attempted to kick him in the chest only to be met with failure. Your attack was faulted by his hand clenching your sand-dusted ankle. He held it momentarily, glancing at your foot with a smirk, before letting you go.
“My name is Na-Baron Feyd Rautha Harkonnen.” He introduced, slithering from the reach of another attack by you. His torso touches against your side, the burning sensation of his skin meeting yours and running down the side of your face. His index finger wipes away the stray blood streamlining down your temple. Against your will, you let out a scared whimper. His proximity to you being the cause of your rapid heart rate. “Shh. Shh, little mouse. It is alright.”
You took a shaky breath. “Stealing me from my home in the dead of night and you dare say that I am alright? With you?”
“You were to be brought to me unharmed.” He repeated in amusement. You were not frightened enough to be mute. There was a fire within the pits of your belly just waiting to be ignited. Feyd could feel the warmth begging to burn him. “I only want the best for you, Karama.”
Karama? A Harkonnen likening you to a miracle made your stomach lurch. Your body didn’t know whether to be in shock or for your adrenaline to continue to spike. Breathing was becoming irregular as you found the air stifling. His closeness sending shockwaves all over you.
Struggling to remove his hand from your face, you turned your cheek away from him in spite. “What do you want with me, Feyd?”
“Today is my birthday.” The man took a step back, eyes trailing your chest and hips in all of its natural glory. You were still in your beige nightgown, tattered and covered in soldier blood. It was the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. “I was told that I could have anything I desired, and for this special day, I only requested two things:” He stood in front of you, craving an ounce of your attention. “To kill Paul Atreides and to have you in my possession.”
Your blue eyes found themselves back in his line of sight. Did they capture Paul? If they had him then surely they had your sister. Chani was somewhere locked in this castle as well and there was nothing you could do to help her.
“Where is my sister?” You asked, nostrils flared with an insurmountable level of rage. “Where is Chani?!”
Feyd grinned, the sight of you angry with him making him feel intense forms of pleasure. “She is on the run with the rest of your people, I assume. My intention was never to harm them—”
“Harkonnen’s have been responsible for the enslavement of my people for longer than you nor I could fathom.” You hissed. “All you know is bloodshed and madness.”
Feyd loomed closer, his fingers inching toward your waist but you successfully kicked his hand away in this instance. The attack was not enough to prevent him from trying again. The mere blessing of your skin on top of his sent him into a frenzy. It would be the most he could touch you for the next twenty four hours or so. He was unable to control himself around you. He could not wait to get his hands against your tanned skin and fill every inch of you with his seed.
His rough palm found its way wrapped around your body, pulling you close, and your breath hitched. Mere centimeters from each other’s faces and he held no intentions of letting you go so soon. Feyd took a deep breath, the scent of Spice and sweat radiating off of you like the finest perfume jewels could buy.
“There have been whispers of you being a great fighter.” He stated lowly, dangerously close to your barely covered breasts. “You must recognize that you will no longer need to fight against me or my people. That the beginning of unity is in our hands, Y/N.”
“There will never be peace as long as you continue to hunger for the control of Spice.” You huff, pulling against your restraints with all of your might, the leather digging into your flesh.
Feyd unwinded his grasp from your body. Letting out a groveling chuckle. The man tilts his head curiously, finding any excuse to continue laying his eyes upon your beauty. “Surely you understand what the prophecy states—“
“What prophecy?” You interrupted.
Feyd studies you. The hyperactivity of your hands begging to break free, your eyes flickering between him and the exit, the beads of stress rolling down your forehead … you were frightened by him and for once in his life, the feeling brought him no contentment.
You’re a smart young woman, that he knew to be true. So to see your eyes full of wonder and confusion proved that you truly were none the wiser.
“You do not know?” He inquired, already anticipating the answer. “You do not know who you are?”
“I am Y/N Kynes of the Fremen people. That is who I am!” You raised your voice. Not wanting your last moments to be full of fear in trying to please the madman. No matter how panicked you felt.
A hand tightly gripped your chin, holding your focus level with his. “And you are to be my wife,” His free hand hovering over your stomach, fingers grazing the exposed flesh from the rips in your nightgown. “the mother of my child.” Feyd could not hide his smile, even in the face of your perplexities. “I have heard of this prophecy for years. A man from a great house will marry a Fremen woman, fall in love, and produce a son, combining the two feuding entities into a house of peace and prosperity for all.”
“You must have me mistaken for I cannot be your betrothed.” You protested, wriggling from his grasp.
Feyd released your face. Tracking your every movement with his eyes. “The woman will have the strengths of a seasoned warrior.” He continued to recite. “She will possess the blinding essence of the sun to all she encounters and she will have a birthmark that resembles...”
He walked calmly to your side. Moving the delicate fabric of your nightgown to reveal what sealed his fate and yours. “the crescent moon.” Feyd nodded, pleased that he finally had you to himself. “I could not wait for you. I had heard of your existence for all of this time and my heart refused to see another day pass without you by my side.”
“H-How did you know that was there?” You trembled, tears falling from your cheeks.
“For it was written.” His thumb ran across your face, collecting the tears and sucking the salty liquid from his finger. “The prophecy has existed for longer than you nor I can fathom. A tale as old as time itself.” He teases, using your own words against you. “Don’t you wish for peace, little mouse?”
You nodded. “Of course I do. But no one informed me that this was my duty to my people.”
“Someone in your life did not wish for me to have your hand. Perhaps your sister you speak of?” Feyd sucked his teeth, disappointment riddled on his features. “As did many within mine, which is why they are no longer breathing. I vowed that I would stop at nothing to find you, Y/N, and now that that time is finally here…I suggest you become comfortable with the prophecy.”
Taking his blade, he began to slice each restraint from your wrists, your arms falling at your side. Wasting no time you let your leg kick his forearm. The blade in air for only a few seconds, however, enough to allow it to now be within your possession. Using his own defenses against him, you tried as hard as you could to make the blade meet his throat.
Feyd was mentally thrown. No one had dared to attack him, much less engage in hand to hand combat before. The few hits you did land upon him were simply due to ill preparedness. The smallest of guards within him being let down simply because of who you are.
Switching the blade to your non dominant hand, you used your elbow to bash into his chest. The Na-Baron stumbled briefly before letting out a laugh. He reached for a handful of your hair, curling it around his fist and forcing you to look at him.
“Is this how you like to play, Desert Rose?” He asked. Nothing in his eyes or demeanor saying he was frightened by you. This was all entertainment for him and his sadistic mind. “Let us play then.”
Growling, you rammed your already fragile head into his. Eliciting enough of a shock to force him into releasing his grip. You allowed your eyes to linger on his legs for far too long. Feyd was unfazed and steady on calculating your next move. Delighted when he saw you going to sweep at his feet.
He caught your ankle, twisting it enough to not cause pain but deter your plans. You fell to floor with a thud. Your back pressed against stone as his body landed on top of yours. Without a second thought, you raised the bloodied blade to his neck. Panting while trying to catch your breath.
Kissing the cool metal to his porcelain skin but not enough pressure to draw blood. Feyd’s eyes went wide. The only time you had seen fear from someone who instilled so much in others. The clear answer was to kill him. You were seconds away from doing so, why hadn’t you followed through?
Doubt plagued you.
Could he be lying about the prophecy? How would he have known about your birthmark?
“Fight like hell if you need to. Do not let them take you!”
Chani’s last words rang in your psyche. Why was your safety so much more important beyond that of other Fremen? Why would that particular string of words be so imperative that your sister had to utter them to you?
“If you kill me prematurely, how will I come to show you all of the ways I was designed to please you?” Feyd spoke, breaking your chain of thought.
Still holding the blade, you licked your lips nervously. There was still so much you needed to know. So many questions you had that he seemed to be the only one with the answers.
“Get off of me and I will spare your life.” You commanded, convincing him that you still remained in control.
As you wished, he retreated from your figure. Extending a paled hand to his future wife and hoping that you did not see nor feel his arousal from the act of simply laying on top of you. With heavy breaths, you threw the blade to the other side of the room. Safe from his and your possession.
“You are an absolute vision when you’re upset.”
Scoffing, you rolled your eyes. “Then I believe it is not far off to say that I will be the most beautiful woman you have ever seen in your lifetime.”
“And what kind of man would I be to argue with facts?”Feyd snapped his fingers together and four bald women entered the room in a singular line. “These are your handmaidens. They have drawn you a bath and laid out fresh clothing for you.” Feyd said, cutting his eyes in their direction. “Show her the same respect you show me. A scratch or bruise found on her body earns you death, understood?”
“Yes, Na-Baron.” They spoke in sync.
“If you’ll excuse me, My Dear.” He licked his lips, straining not to reach out and bring your body closer to his again. “I have a performance to prepare for.”
Feyd turned on his heels, heading for the exit before calling out one more time. “She is to be ready within the hour.”
You stood in the silence. The women staring at you with horror etched into the fabric of their minds. The Na-Baron was terrifying just on his own accord. Now, his Princess, his most prized possession beyond Arrakis, was entrusted with them. You couldn’t even begin to understand what was happening before you.
The prophecy could not have been fabricated. Granted, his soldiers could have informed him of your birthmark, but that appeared unlikely. Feyd wanted you to himself in every sense, just a mere scratch to your head landed his soldier in death. Instructing them to view your body within its indecency would never happen.
In terms of what could be done, there was nothing. Your stomach tossing and turning before forming knots of panic. You were to be Feyd’s wife and the weight of the freedom of your people rested in your hands.
It was to be married to the bachelor of darkness or to be complacent to the murder of more Fremen souls.
While it was the most difficult pill to swallow, you were in the beginning stages of accepting your fate. Your entire life has been in preparation for you to be the Princess of the House of Harkonnen—and only now were you learning of your purpose.
Even with a million concerns roaming your mind, the biggest factor if it all revolved around Chani and how much she knew of this infamous prophecy.

"Terra Millennium stands as a enomely in the universe for their rejection against the Empire", the hologram records said. "A two-century long battle was waged for the planet through the Great Houses yet the people won through the help of someone they have since called 'The Conqueror'."
Paul had heard of the Terra Millennium, their planet one of lush greenery, vast oceans and an abundance of resources that the previous Emperor had tried countless times to harvest just as House Harkonnen had done with the Spice on Arrakis, but alas, no one had ever been successful in mining Terra Millennium. He had heard that they experience something called 'seasons', he wondered what that was.
Just as he had done with Arrakis, Paul sat in his private room, watching hologram clips of Terra Millennium as his fleet flew to the planet to finally land conquest through the help of the Fremen.
"Anthropologists have never been able to stay long on the planet or among the people, but what has been gathered is the people have rejected the teachings of the Bene Gesserit, labeling it as hertic literature."
Terra Millennium was an odd planet with an odd people who had unusually long live spans, being able to live into their thousands without a single wrinkle or grey, they repented against the Bene Gesserit, the use of the Spice; he had heard of the people of that land believing solely in the ruling Queens because of a crystal, one of immense power that was sought after.
"Characterized by their white hair, the ruling House of L/N have upheld the traditional values of the planet, which has a population of over 1 billion. Only female heirs have been able to inherit the throne and it is rumored that a single crystal that is worn by every ruling Queen is said to hold immense power that has granted its people longevity, peace and prosperity."
A knock interrupted his research, Paul seeing Stilgar walk in followed by Gurney.
"Muad'Dib, we have touched land on Terra Millennium", Stilgar said, "they have responded to our communication message."
"What did they say?" he asked, Gurney chuckled.
"They said if we proceed with our mission, they will see it as an act of war", Gurney said, "they're real hard asses here."
"You've been, Gurney?" Paul asked, curious.
"Once", Gurney replied, "I came with your father on a diplomatic assignment, but that was with their previous Queen Helene. This one is new, just coronated a few months ago."
He thought back to the new dreams he had been having of a woman whose hair was the color of white that hung down near the ground in large curls, whose eyes were hard and the color of lilac with the roar of a great beast that rung in his ears when he would awaken from his dreams.
Unlike his dreams with Chani, these felt different now that he had drunken the Water of Life. His visions of the woman consisted of a gentle breeze sweeping through her hair, it curling around her as she was dressed in a long, white silk dress that clung to her body and trailed in a long train behind her with woven golden in the upper bodice. She stood on a tall pillar of crystal, a tall scepter in her hands that she was raising above her head as the breeze picked up.

Soon, the dreams melted in a great war as crystals encapsulating him, a bright light that blinded him yet filled him with warmth and security.
"Show them the full might of the Empire", Paul said, "after all, they are in the presence of the Muad'Dib."
And it was those eyes that greeted him when he finally set foot on the pavement of Terra Millennium with its tall structures that were made of variously colored crystals.
Tumblr media
Neo-Queen Amaris was the regal name Y/N had chosen to go by when she took the throne a mere few months ago. Of course, she went by her name, Y/N in private with those closets to her and only by her regal name with others.
Y/N had heard the rumors of the new Emperor wanting to claim her home, her people; he wanted to bring her planet into the vastly growing empire that he ruled under as a supposed Messiah to the Fremen and Bene Gesserit: Muad'Dib. Everyone had heard of how he supposedly liberated Arrakis and the Fremen people, marrying Princess Irulan as a political move to secure his position as the new Emperor.
Only a few days ago did a message come into their Communication's Hub from the Emperor about finally claiming Terra Millennium for not only himself but for the Fremen as it would be their 'Green Paradise'.
War will come to Terra Millennium if you refuse to submit, the message read.
"My Queen", her advisor, Lord York, said as she sat on her throne. "Reports have come in that the Atreides fleet has made contact on the landing pad near the Capital. Scouts have seen the Atreides Army beginning to get ready."
Lord York was a man of small stature with a head full of bronze curls and dark brown eyes that always looked calculated as if he was already ten steps ahead.
Y/N looked over at Lord York before bringing a hand to the crystal that hung around her neck on a chain that could never be removed from her neck before slowly standing up from her throne that was encrusted in gemstones.
"I believe it is time we greet them", she said, looking over her court. "After all, hospitality is what our people are known for."
And it is not like they have any chance of having their weapons working; outside weaponry not from Terra M had no chance of working and she wondered what their reactions would be once they realized this.
"But before we go", Lord York said, "may I make a suggestion?"
Y/N made a motion to the man, who gave a nod and said, "I believe it is our Queen's best interest to wear your ancestor, The Conqueror's crown and scepter to greet our guests. It would show the great strength you possess, a message to not only the Great Houses but the Emperor as well."
"That sounds like a great idea."
Tumblr media
"You are the presence of our Neo-Queen", a man said with a thick facial beard, "first of her name, descendant of our goddess Selene and The Conqueror, wielder of the great Silver Crystal, Mother of all, Neo-Queen Amaris."
Paul watched as the man motioned to the woman he had been dreaming about, he could see that as the breeze came that she wore no shoes; all the Terrians didn't despite their silken clothes as they stood amongst the tall crystal structures. They had landed as close to the Capital, finding that there was a landing pad despite the relatively isolated nature of the planet.
"I welcome you, Paul of House Atreides", she said with a stoic expression. "But now you must leave."
The woman, their Queen Amaris, looked upon them with a hint of annoyance as she held a large scepter in one hand that was as tall as Duncan Idaho had been with gold and gem embellishments, but what was curious was that at the top of the scepter where it looked as if a missing piece was needed. The crown she wore on her head was large, glittering in diamonds and curved up into a point as she stood there, her hair having a few small braids that pulled the framing hair away with kiss curls on her forehead.
"Leave?" Paul said with some amusement.
Irulan stood next to him dressed in a silver mesh outfit, a metal hair net that connected over into her dress that held down her short blonde hair. Paul was glad that he Voiced the woman to stop talking, she would not stop and frankly, he had no desire to try and pursue a romantic relationship with the woman after Chani chose to leave further into Arrakis.
His mother stood amongst them, holding the bundled form of his sister, Alia.
"I did not realize a Emperor could have poor hearing", Amaris said, "you are not welcome on Terra Millennium nor do we plan on allowing for you to colonize us. Terra M remains alone."
Paul took in the way she spoke, her accent one he had never heard before and the formal way of speaking. He noticed the large gem that hung around her neck, it sparkled in the sunlight as she stood there and looked to be the size of a her palm.
"Also, we did not apperciate your Bene Gesserit coming", she continued, "spreading their heretic language, you will find them in the Prisoner's Bay."
"You don't believe in the Muad'Dib, the Kwisatz Haderach?" Paul asked.
"We believe in our Queen, may her reign be as prosperous as Selene", the bearded man said.
The Queen just looked at him with contempt, he saw her lip curl a little in annoyance.
And it was that look that made something stir deep in Paul and made him feel something that he never felt before. She looked at him as if he was a bug ready to be squashed underneath her foot
Tumblr media
He wanted to possess the woman in front of him, at all costs and he didn't care who he had to kill... he was going to.

When you were younger, you saw Castle Caladan for what it isn’t.
In nearly all of your memories, Castle Caladan was warm and bright. The sun shone into the large windows, illuminating the gray hallways and providing a comforting warmth that seduced your young mind into seeing Castle Caladan as one of the residences from the fairytales your mother would tell you. In these memories you were always running and smiling, often hand-in-hand with your best friend. Your first love.
Paul Atreides.
Castle Caladan was the home of the person you cared about most. Therefore, visits were vacations. They were scarce, becoming more rare the older you got, but that only made you treasure them more.
You and Paul would spend the entire day together, even going as far as to sneak out of your allocated bedrooms and tiptoe into the chambers of the other. In the morning, the maids would find two little bodies sharing a bed, hands reaching out to touch the other in the empty space between you both.
And as you grew, you traded running around the halls for playing each other in chess. Playing throughout the fields was traded for walking along the shoreline.
Sneaking into each other's bedroom only changed by the nature of intentions. You still ached to spend more time together, but the innocence of it was lost. In the solitude of the night, you would make up for the time lost during the day to Paul’s training as the heir, and your duties with your mother and Lady Jessica.
When your mother broke the news, she misled you.
“You will be permanently living with the Atreides family,” came her carefully chosen words. If she had not trained you, maybe it would’ve taken you longer to catch the implications. Maybe you would not have understood what circumstances had brought this upon your family until you were packing, or even until you were already en route to Caladan.
Instead, it’s then and there that you realize how your chances have been lowered to none.
Your mother had said your name, her tone as dry and disappointed as her eyes. “You will never be able to marry him. It is as I said.”
And that was that.
Your best friend becomes your step brother in the blink of an eye. Together, you made up the new and noble siblings of House Atreides.
Your mother and Paul's father were married, and you and Paul now shared a last name. It was an immovable fact, no matter how often you and Paul attempted to convince each other of the opposite in moments of intense desperation.
No matter how many times you tried to convince the other that marriage is a procedure that could be reversed should the need ever arise, you both knew that a reversal would be unlikely.
Duke Leto married your mother despite his clear love for Lady Jessica for security. If he could manage to commit such an act onto the one he loves, then there would be no undoing this.
Now, you see Castle Caladan for what it is.
As beautiful as it is dreary. As cold as it is large. As encompassing as it is comforting.
You sit at the breakfast table next to Paul and across from your mother. Lady Jessica sits at the end of the table, and Duke Leto, your stepfather, is absent.
There’s no small talk, just the silent scraping of utensils against expensive china and the occasional audible gulp of fluid down throats.
Every so often, you throw a curious glance Paul’s way, and the look he throws at you is in similar fashion. You both feel the stiffness in the air.
Paul raises his eyebrows. He nudges them towards your mother and then his mother, and does the same with his eyes for emphasis.
You slightly widen your eyes pointedly, your way of saying I know without having to say it. His lips pull up into a small smile and then you both turn back to face your plates.
The tense silence continues for a while. Your mother addresses Lady Jessica. Lady Jessica addresses Paul. Your mother addresses you and Paul.
And then your plates are cleaned and Paul is standing.
“May we be excused?”
It’s surprisingly a clear day outside, and you did not have to speak to Paul to know that he intended for both of you to enjoy the agreeable weather before Caladan was inevitably submerged in water once more later in the night.
“You may be excused,” Lady Jessica confirms.
You’re in the midst of rising from your seat and pushing the chair out from under you whenever you catch Lady Jessica’s eye. She does not say anything to you, but she does not need to.
Just the cold gaze of her blue eyes alone are enough to make you sink back into your seat. From behind you, Paul calls your name. If you were not locked in a trance, you would have looked at him, you would have found the soothing blue-green of his eyes instead of the petrifying chill of his mothers.
I’ll see you later, Paul,” you tell him on your own volition, but you think that is what Lady Jessica wanted you to say anyway.
She waits until the dining room is cleared of anyone other than you two before she begins to communicate.
“You and my son…” Her words taper off and you are too busy focusing on the way her lips have only moved to take in another bite of her breakfast, and not to speak to you.
While you understand the ways of the Bene Gesserit, it never fails to amaze you.
“Ma’am?” You are playing dumb and both of you are aware.
Still, Lady Jessica elaborates, “You both have had feelings for the other since you were young.”
There is no room for denial so there is no reason for you to attempt it. You nod twice, casting your eyes down to your lap where your hands lay restlessly. You begin to pick at your nails as Lady Jessica continues.
“And are those feelings still present?”
Your answer comes entirely too quick.
“No!” Your voice echoes around the room and you cringe.
Lady Jessica lifts an eyebrow. She senses your dishonesty.
You chew on your bottom lip for a moment. “Yes, ma’am. But we have not acted on them.”
When she communicates this time, it is with her voice.
“Good. You are a smart girl and your mother has raised you well. I’m sure you will make both of us proud.” She finishes off her food and sits straighter, wiping her mouth free of nonexistent residue with a white cloth. “Now I’m sure you have things to be getting to, right, dear?”
You have never been happier to leave somewhere. You say your goodbyes as graciously as possible and leave the dining room.
You’re in the training room exhausting yourself with slightly shaky jabs at the practice dummy whenever the door opens. There is a split second where you’re prepared to turn around and throw the next jab at the intruder, but then he speaks.
“If I were Gurney I would chastise you for fighting with your back to the door.”
You speak around your heavy  breaths.
“Eyes in the back of my head, remember?”
Your reference is one that goes back to you and Paul’s young teenage years. A phrase you confidently proclaimed once you and Paul both had begun extensive training, learning combat that could protect yourselves and your—then separate—family names should the need ever arise. (To this day, Paul is more formidable in combat than you are, but back then you could confidently hold your own.)
Gurney had taken over training then, and he had allowed you and Paul to train together, solely because you were visiting during one of Paul’s less intense training sessions.
(You believed that Gurney always had a soft spot for you and the Atreides heir. Not nearly as obvious as the one held by Duncan Idaho, but its existence is present within the weathered man.)
When Gurney had chastised you for fighting with your back to the door, you quickly quipped with a claim that you had eyes in the back of your head. When Gurney tossed a rock at your back, not big enough to provide more than a bruise against your skin, you were able to block it without turning around.
Gurney was impressed. Paul was stunned. You attributed it to pure luck. Yet since then, it was never let go.
When you begin to notice Paul approaching you, you credit your awareness of his movement to knowing him more than you knew your surroundings. You weren’t the most skilled warrior. Your mother belongs to a notable house, which forced you to learn slightly more than the basic survival skills. Some chastised her for withholding you from Bene Gesserit training, or perhaps more in depth training that would harden both your body and your mind. As far as she cared, you could hold your own in a fight, and that is all you needed.
But you knew Paul. The ins and outs. Sometimes, late at night when you would allow the sickness of infatuation to fall upon you as you gazed at the stars, you liked to think that you and Paul were intertwined. You liked to convince yourself that your souls were intertwined and codependent.
It is hard to dispute that claim when you know based on intuition alone that Paul is right behind you.
(You can also feel his body heat and his presence behind you, but in your mind that is not nearly as romantic.)
You spin around to face Paul, your arms raised and body tensed with preparation to fight.
Paul eyes your posture, cocks his head to the side, and mirrors it.
It’s over quickly.
Paul has your dagger thrown to the side within the first three movements. He has your hands restricted in his grasp in the next two movements. With just one more movement, he has your cheek and chest pressed against the wall with your hands bound behind your back. For just a moment more, he stands a respectable distance away from you.
With the space between you both, the position could be passed off as friendly. The position could pass as the competitive nature it resembled.
Until Paul takes a step closer and flushes his crotch against your backside, making you well aware of the stiff form within his trousers.
For just a moment more, you let yourself revel in the feeling with your eyes closed, the rate of your breathing evening out now that you aren’t exerting yourself. You shimmy your hips just a bit, nestling Paul’s erection between your cheeks as best as you can with lack of movement and layers hindering your abilities.
But then the moment is gone. You push it away when you speak.
“Paul,” you intend for the syllables of his name to be a warning. At first, they come out as a pleading whine, so you clear your throat and try again.
“Paul.” This time, it is firm and demanding.
When Paul hums, it is against the shell of your ear. The proximity allows you to feel his voice instead of just hearing it, and you are instantly reminded of the times Paul had been on his knees between your legs and using the vibration that came from him to bring you pleasure you have not felt since.
“We really shouldn’t.” You’re trying to convince both him and yourself.
“Why shouldn’t we?”
The question should not have to be asked. It is a question that should not need to be answered, for you both know what is preventing you from having the other in ways from before.
You do not answer. Your forehead thuds against the wall, your warm breath rebounds against the wall and hits your lower face when you exhale.
Paul starts to gently rock his hips into yours. His free hand, the one not restricting your movement, presses flat against the cement structure.
When the pleasure increases, and your desire follows, you lift your head and let it lull to the side, resting the side of your skull against the toned muscles in Paul’s bicep. You start to give in.
Your lips part in a moan devoid of any sound as Paul asks you again.
“Tell me, my star. Why shouldn’t we?”
He lets go of your hands, instead using his own for a more important cause. His palm glides up the side of your shirt until he reaches your breast. You cannot feel the warmth of his touch through your layers, but just the pressure alone is enough to have you choking around your words.
“Because it’s not right, Paul,” you eventually tell him.
Paul tuts. The hand on the wall meets your waist, his fingertips pressing into the area as he uses his grip to pull you back against him.
“What d’you mean it’s not right?” He kisses the side of your neck and at this moment, you are considering letting him take you here and now. “It feels right, doesn’t it?”
You’re nodding before he even finishes speaking.
You had not realized just how bad you missed Paul until now. Your mind has conjured up images of him in your sleep, perfect replicas of his face created from memories of your time spent together and imagining what could be if you just release your inhibitions. When Paul gently sinks his teeth into the skin along your shoulder, it dawns on you that with just a bit more time, your dreams could easily walk into the waking world.
Maybe you were just about to give in. Maybe Paul would have convinced you to let him finally have you.
Either way, the moment is lost whenever Paul steps away from you, taking away all of the contact points in one singular move.
You turn to face him with your eyebrows furrowed and your eyes already beginning to sting with rejection whenever the door opens.
You turn your head, both stunned and grateful to see Duncan Idaho walking through, his stride strong and purposeful until he notices you standing in front of Paul.
He takes a moment to cast his eyes between both of you. You watch his gaze flicker around the room, no doubt taking in as much information as he could, before he lands on you.
“Didn’t know you were joining us today, Eyes.” It is no surprise that Duncan pulls on the same story from before for your nickname. Just as you have yet to let the anecdote go, he has yet to let the nickname go.
“I’m not,” you tell him, attempting to subtly adjust your garments. It is clear that you were not as subtle as you could have been whenever Duncan eyes you up and down. You swear there is something akin to knowing on his face.
“I was just leaving.”
“Don’t leave on my accord. Paul could use more of a challenge, isn’t that right?” Duncan smiles teasingly and finally looks at your stepbrother. You do the same.
(You are surprised to see that Paul does not look as flustered as you anticipated him to. You hope you did not pull the short stick.)
“Oh … yes.” Paul turns to face you with a smile similar to Duncan’s on his lips. “Join us … little sis.” The term of endearment sounds foreign coming from him. That is not the only reason why it makes you cringe.
You understand that both of them are making a joke at your expense. There have been a few times where you foolishly joined Duncan and Paul during their sessions, only to get knocked on your ass by Paul and goaded into getting back up by Duncan. The cycle would continue until you could do nothing but lay in bed the next day, praying for a speedy recovery so you would not waste a day that could be spent in Paul's presence.
Now that you live here, that one issue would be taken care of. Still, you prefer to be able to comfortably move around without bruises and aches restricting your movement.
Although your mind is already made up, you cannot help but attempt to defend yourself.
“Who says I haven’t gotten better?”
Paul smirks. You both know that while you have improved, he has too. He will always be ahead of you. The compromising position you were in only a few minutes ago serves as proof.
“Have you?” Duncan asks.
Your reply comes in the form of dismissal, which you do as politely as you can, adding only slight annoyance to your tone that you could only display in the presence of Duncan and none of the other members of House Atreides.
“Enjoy yourselves. Paul, I’ll see you at dinner.”
Paul nods once and then you leave with the boisterous sound of Duncan’s laughter escorting you out.
Dinner is much like breakfast.
Duke Leto joins this time, which allows for much more conversation. But the stiff and tense air still permeates the dining room. It takes you half of your entree to decipher exactly where the energy is coming from, but it is so clear once it is revealed that you cannot help but beat yourself up over your previous confusion just a bit.
Different from earlier in the morning, your mother sits at the head of the table with Duke Leto on the other end. Lady Jessica has been casted off and forced to sit across from you and Paul. She appears uncomfortable in the seat, constantly readjusting herself between quick statements that clearly express her discontent at the new arrangement.
You would have focused more on the dramatics of your family dinner table if Paul were not toying with you beneath it.
You are incredibly thankful that he kept his hands to himself, but his feet are just as insistent. Just as restless.
They poke against yours constantly, not in an attempt to gather your attention as you would consistently send looks his way. Never were they returned. He would either be discussing his day with his father, talking to either of your mothers, or focused on the diminishing food on his plate.
There were a few occasions where you thought Paul’s actions were accidental. You would draw your foot back, but when his covered toes found yours once more, you knew it to be another one of his games. It was juvenile and childish, but you found yourself allowing it to happen.
You would take any form of Paul’s touch, so long as it did not compromise too much.
You repeat your philosophy in your mind over and over again like the sayings of the Bene Gesserit whenever Paul approaches you.
You stand in the center of your bedroom in your night clothes. Your curtains are still open, exposing the vast nothingness that the sea presents itself as since the sun has set. The stars twinkle above, and you had already prepared yourself for a night of tracing constellations before Paul entered.
He stands in front of you, dressed just as down as you are. His hair is still a little wet from bathing, and you briefly recount the many times you played with the curls until they began to dampen and eventually dry. Each time, his hair would look unkempt in the mornings, but Paul never cared. He claimed that his hair was just a reminder of the night he spent with you.
You would pretend to be unaffected by his sweet talking, only to flush at the memory of his words later in the day.
“Are you listening to me, my star?” His words pull you from your senseless daydreaming.
“What was that?”
Paul’s lips tug up in the corners as he dips his head for a moment. When he looks at you once more, he takes a step closer.
You knew why he was here in the first place, but the advance of his hand reaching for your waist still has your breath hitching.
“I was wondering if you would let me have a taste of you.”
He stares at you, waiting for an answer. Meanwhile, you are losing yourself as you continue to look into his eyes, analyzing the way his long and dark eyelashes add depth to them for the millionth time.
Eventually, the raise of his eyebrows cue you.
“Paul,” you start with a soft tone, an attempt to keep it neutral. But Paul knows you just as well as you know him. Possibly even better.
He senses the impending rejection woven in just the syllables of his name.
He sighs. He pulls you closer by your hips. He rests his forehead against yours and presses his hands into your lower back.
He says your name. No, he breathes it. His breath hits your lips before you part them. With his next exhale, you inhale. The pattern continues until Paul prepares to speak, but you interrupt him.
“She knows.”
You do not have to specify exactly who you are talking about.
Paul sighs again, this time as if he is defeated.
“Of course she knows. My mother is all knowing, didn’t you know?” He speaks with faux amusement. He’s lighthearted, and the emotion is completely misplaced.
“We can’t go back to doing this, Paul.”
He begins to speak over you, but you continue.
“Paul, we can’t. No. No. It’s too dangerous. It’s too–”
“We can. Yes, we can, my star. Look at me–”
You do as told, removing the touch of your foreheads from the others to look at each other head on once more.
“What are you so afraid of?”
The question is so simple. The answer is, too. It is one you have run over in your head day in and day out since moving in just a few months ago. It is the same response you reminded yourself of whenever Paul would touch you, even if it were just an accidental graze of his knuckles against yours.
The difficulty comes with admittance.
But in the safe confines of your bedroom, with nothing but the moon, stars, and sea as a witness, you open your mouth.
“I’m afraid of losing you.”
Paul shakes his head gently, sending little water droplets flying.
“You will never lose me. You know that.”
“Yes, I will, Paul.”
“No. Why would you say that? We live together now. We’re bound together.”
It takes a moment to wring yourself out of Paul’s touch, and when you do, he keeps his hands suspended in the air without making any attempts to straighten his posture. He looks dejected.
You approach your window, staring off into the distance as you say, “Exactly. We are bound together in ways that will never reach marriage. We cannot get married.”
Paul’s footsteps are near silent as he approaches you.
“Does that mean you cannot be mine and I cannot be yours? What we have will always transcend marriage, my star.”
When you do not bother to respond, there is a resounding thud.
You look to your side to find Paul on his knees before you. You, the bastard daughter, have brought the heir of House Atreides to his knees. Like this, with the low lighting in your bedroom reflecting the highest points of his cheekbones and emphasizing the valleys along the plane of his face, it is easy to remind yourself that Paul Atreides is just as much of a bastard as you.
You two are in this together. Why should you not be together as well?
You are already planning to accept when he begs.
“Please? Just one taste and I will let you be if that is what you wish. You have my word.”
Typically, Paul is a man of his word. When you were kids and you accidentally knocked over a vase, a gift from another of the houses, Paul never told a soul just as he promised. When you had the tiniest crush on Duncan and let Paul in on the secret, he never told. He had given you his word both times.
It is this time when you first are made aware of Paul’s capacity for dishonesty.
Either way, you lift the skirt of your nightgown.
Paul fits between your legs without much difficulty at all. While it may have been a while since you allowed yourselves this delicacy, it is as easy as breathing to return to the routine.
Paul begins to lick and suck at your essence with appreciation derived from deprivation. His hands press into the fat of your backside, either to hold you steady or keep you flush against him. In any case, you are securely pressed against Paul’s mouth and he has no intention of letting you go anytime soon.
You feel similarly, throwing your leg over his shoulder and digging the heel of your foot into the defined muscles of his back. Your hand presses against the glass plane beside you when Paul puckers his lips and sucks along your clit.
The position calls for some maneuvering. You bend your standing leg, then grip Paul’s curls with your freehand, pulling him just a little closer to your center. His tongue has slid down to your hole and bringing him closer has bumped his nose against your clit. The bud catches the ridge of it, and you shamelessly run your hips side to side in an attempt to catch it again. Paul, noticing your efforts, does it for you.
He grabs your ass just a bit tighter, adjusting your robes with one hand before returning to his handfuls, and then he shakes his head just enough to provide the stimulation you were searching for. He dips his tongue into your entrance, brings it back out, and repeats the movement. Coupled with the alternating shake of his nose against your clit, and your recent abstinence, you are close sooner than you would have preferred.
You sacrifice your minute control over him when you free his hair from your hands, and instead imprison the linen fabric of your gown within your grasp. You pull your garb up, scrunching the fabric into your hand to get a look at Paul.
When his eyes are revealed, they are already casted up towards you. They crinkle at the corners as if he is smiling at you, and the shape you feel against your cunt is confirmation. When he peels away from you there is a visible erotic sheen across his lips.
“I forgot how good you tasted.”
He speaks to you casually, in a fashion to the conversations of nonsensical small talk you had been subjected to earlier in the day.
For some reason, this makes your head spin.
You nudge your hips back in Paul’s direction and he does not have to be told to return to work.
There is so much slip and slide between your legs that you cannot tell what is your arousal and what is his saliva. The combination of fluids multiples whenever Paul slides a finger in your entrance, slinking it along your insides before he finds the spot. He pays extra attention to it, watching you as he slips another finger in to join it without much time in between.
You have not been aware of the volume of your moans until Paul begins to flick your clit with his tongue, after which a croaky sound slips past your lips and it is entirely too loud for the circumstances.
Your hand slaps over your mouth before you can stop it.
Paul shakes his head, removing his lips from you but not his fingers. He chastises you.
“Don’t do that to me, my star.”
That is all he has to say for you to remove your hand and continue to let the sounds that encourage him spill out.
(Luckily, your sleeping quarters exist further away from the other’s.)
It is only a few more moments before your lower abdomen tenses and an orgasm seizes control of your body without much warning in advance. You grip your robes for stability, press your fingers into the glass of the window, and keep Paul close with your leg wound around his shoulders.
He had no intention of leaving at all. He continues to lick at you, now incorporating a loud slurp that is seemingly intended to clean you up.
When the twitching of your muscles has ceased, both of your feet have rejoined the floor for only a minute before Paul has your legs wrapped around his waist.
He carries you off towards your bed.
“May I continue?” he asks as he lays you on your back at the foot of the furniture.
There is no hesitation when you tell him, “Please do.”
You heard the hushed whispers echoing throughout the hall, spreading information that should have solely remained private to your personal quarters.
"They appear to be close. Too close," came from the voices of your maids, spoken with excitement as the thrill from sharing tales that did not concern them flooded their bodies. Like always, they were in small huddles, bodies curved into each other, their postings abandoned as they assumed that no Atreides would be wandering the halls at this house.
Except you were.
Your lightweight garbs noiselessly tap against your ankle with each careful step, freed from the extensive jewelry you were usually kept in throughout the day. As of late, your mother has been presenting you as a jewel in an attempt to delude the Houses into forgetting that you are a bastard. House Atreides wanted for you to be seen as the potential for great alliances.
Paul was presented the same.
Marriage became the topic of conversation more often, and you and Paul played the parts you needed to.
You played the parts necessary to continue this.
His door is cracked just enough for you to silently slip in.
“They were talking about us again.” The lack of romance within Paul’s greeting words do not matter as much when his hands wind around your hips.
Still, you can’t help but tease him just a bit. Your hands find his shoulders, palms easily gliding back until you can comfortably tug at his dark curls.
“Could you at least tell me you missed me before we dive into Castle gossip? What happened to romance, Paul?”
He smiles at you like he had been expecting you to say something along those lines. He leans in, pressing his lips to your cheeks and then your nose.
“Hello, my love. How I’ve missed you so. I have no idea how I lasted this long without you.” He is exaggerating. It has only been a couple of days since you and Paul last met into the hours of the night.
You scoff and gently slap his shoulders. You do not bother hiding the effect of his words on you.
“I heard the maids talking on my way down here.” You dive into repeating the words echoing around the concrete castle walls, but the way Paul looks at you is distracting you. His green eyes plainly flicker from your eyes to your lips, back and forth, back and forth, with a speed that says he does not want to be caught in the act. His lips, slightly chapped but no less appealing, are parted, allowing his tongue to briefly appear before disappearing back into his mouth.
You let your words taper off.
“You can kiss me, you know.”
He nods once. When he speaks, his voice is a gentle whisper. “I know. I just didn’t want to interrupt you.”
“Luckily I’m done now.”
Paul kisses you with familiarity.
You knew that no matter what, you and Paul would be married off to others. But in your deluded mind, you figured that you might as well have fun while you could. You might as well pretend that Paul Atreides was yours, and you were his, until eventually that would be forced to change.

— THROWN TO THE WOLVES (I)
Tumblr media
PART TWO
PAIRING — Na-Baron Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen x fem!Reader // Atreides!OC
SUMMARY — After receiving the news from the Emperor about moving to Arrakis, Duke Leto suspects the upcoming war with the Harkonnens. His daughter's marriage with the Baron's heir is supposed to create an alliance and ensure his family's safety. Previously sheltered and protected Princess Atreides must now face the harsh reality on her own.
AUTHOR’S NOTE — It’s written as an usual x Reader fic without describing anything about the Reader’s looks but I still classified it as an OC as well since she is Paul Atreides' half-sister. I had this idea even before watching the movie... 😂 but I patiently waited to go to the cinema before starting to write. The fic starts around the events of the first movie but I imagine all characters to be a bit older than in canon – I hope it's okay since all the actors are adults. I can't believe I used to write fanfics where the Reader was Duke Leto's wife and now I'm switching sides like that! 🤣 I don’t know much about Dune’s Universe because I’ve only seen the new movies but I tried to do a bit of research. 🙏🏻
WARNINGS — arranged marriage, blood, mentions of death & actual death, violent behaviour, syringes & blood drawing, mentions of planned and scientifical breeding, Reader's behaviour might be interpreted as spoiled / ungrateful / rude (she's not supposed to be a good person)

THROWN TO THE WOLVES (I)
Duke Leto was standing by the window with his hands clasped behind his back as he watched his son training in the courtyard and his daughter reading a book on one of the stone steps. Last week he had received the news about the Emperor’s decision to move his family to an unfriendly world of Arrakis. He was aware of the consequences of such a decision. He knew that the Emperor always had his bigger purpose.
“What is troubling you?” Lady Jessica stood behind him and put her hand on his shoulder.
“The war with the Harkonnens is coming,” Duke Leto sighed. “And I don’t know what to do to protect my family from it.”
Lady Jessica furrowed her brows. She had been waiting for this moment for a long time now but the moment never seemed to be right.
“What if you make an alliance?” She proposed with her lips inches away from his ear as her hands hugged his chest from behind.
“An alliance? With the Harkonnens?” The Duke couldn’t grasp the concept. “How?”
“You have something very precious here that for some reason you are hiding from the world. But we all have to serve our families. Women serve their families in their own ways, Leto,” Lady Jessica smiled softly and pointed her finger at Princess (Y/N).
Innocent and unaware Princess (Y/N), reading a book and watching her half-brother train. She was wearing a pretty dark green dress with long sleeves that were supposed to protect her from the harsh winds of Caladan. Her hair was done up in a beautiful way by one of her maids and her eyes were as sad as usual.
“She will be sent to her mother’s family soon,” Duke Leto reminded Lady Jessica. “That was my agreement with them.”
“Yes, and what will she do there? She can’t hide away from the big world. She is her mother’s daughter but she’s also an Atreides. You raised her. She owes you loyalty,” Lady Jessica explained. “If you ask her to keep your family safe, she shall do it.”
“I would never send my daughter to those monsters,” The Duke shook his head and turned around to face Lady Jessica. “I am her father. I might have not loved her mother like I love you. But I love her as much as I love our son.”
“If our son was a girl, he’d be the one sent to the Harkonnens,” Lady Jessica reminded him. “Of course her bloodline is not as perfect as Paul’s but she will do. I’ve spoken to the sisters about it and…”
“You’ve spoken to the sisters about it?!” The Duke’s eyes widened at that revelation. “You have already discussed my daughter with the Bene Gesserit?”
“I raised her, too!” Lady Jessica raised her voice. “She is not mine and I would never call her my daughter but I care about her, too. I watched her grow, I teached her, I soothed her after her nightmares. I was there for her. But she can’t hide from her destiny on her grandparent’s planet. She is Princess Atreides.”
The Duke remained silent. He took a deep breath in and looked out of the window once more. His son was already hiding the blades after the training and approaching his sister.
Tumblr media
You closed the book and squinted your eyes at the sight of Paul approaching you with a smile. He was a little younger than you but he was the future Duke. In a fair world, you would be the Duchess of Caladan. You were older and you were a daughter of your father and his wife. Paul was basically a bastard.
And he was weak. You didn’t want to say it out loud but you had been watching him train for quite a long time now and you didn’t see a future Duke in him. You kept thinking that you’d make a better one. After all, you were supposed to be born a boy and a future Duke. But your mother was no Bene Gesserit witch and she could not manipulate her child’s gender. She died giving birth to you and she didn’t secure your father with an heir. Lady Jessica did.
So you had to watch Paul struggling with his trainings as you pretended to read books. You had asked your father to let you train as well but he didn’t agree. You were a Princess. If you were to gain an ugly scar on your face, your value would decrease.
“How was it?” Paul pinched you teasingly as you closed the book loudly to show him your annoyance at that gesture.
“The book?” You asked.
“No, my training.”
“I haven’t been paying attention to it,” you lied and shrugged your arms. “It’s starting to rain, let’s go back inside,” you stood up and he followed you to the gates. “I was thinking of giving away most of my dresses to the poor. I won’t need them on Arrakis, the ones with long sleeves and fur,” you told him.
“But you won’t be on Arrakis with us for long,” Paul reminded you.
“My mother’s planet is warm, too. It’s sunny and it almost never rains,” you explained. “I will not need these dresses there either.”
“It is sad that you will have to leave us,” Paul looked down.
You tried to hate him but sometimes you couldn’t. And as much as you hated everything about this family and how you were treated in it… He still remained your younger brother. And it wasn’t his fault that his mother was a witch and that your father loved him more than you.
“I will visit you and you will visit me,” you told him with a shy smile. “I am looking forward to moving to my grandparents and to choose any noble man on their planet I want to marry,” you chuckled.
Of course you’d rather stay and become a Duchess of Caladan. But that was out of option.
“I’ll see you later, I have to look through my dresses. I don’t trust my maid’s choices with them,” you told your brother and you went to your chambers.
You placed the book down on the desk and you caressed your mother’s picture. You had never known her since she died giving birth to you. But you always craved to meet her and you always daydreamed about her still being alive. Lady Jessica was no substitute to you. And she had never tried to be.
There were political marriage unions that were supposed to make alliances but there was also a different type of an union, a more mysterious and weird kind of it – the one that was calculated and planned by the Bene Gesserit. Your mother was supposed to give Duke Leto his heir and Lady Jessica was supposed to give him a daughter that would later be sent away to another great house and continue that malicious and intentional bloodline. To you, it was all witchcraft. You didn’t trust any of that because you didn’t trust Lady Jessica.
You knew that when your mother had been dying and you were being born, your father was not there. He was with her as she was already pregnant with Paul.
You knew about a lot of things from the maids that had come to Caladan with your mother. You knew your father had not been a bad man to her but he couldn’t force himself to love her. And you knew how much she had wanted to go back home. She had missed the sun and the warmth. And now she would remain forever on this grey and rainy planet. As a former Duchess of it, she had to be buried on Caladan.
You were occupied with the dresses in your closet when you felt someone’s presence in the chamber with you. You turned around and sighed at the sight of Lady Jessica.
“I’m thinking about giving away some of them to the poor,” you pointed at one of the dresses laying on your bed. “They will be no use on Arrakis,” you explained.
Lady Jessica remained silent as she leaned on the wall and kept watching you. You didn’t like that.
“What is it?” You asked.
“There’s a change of plans,” she finally cleared her throat as she straightened herself. You furrowed your brows.
“We are not moving?” You asked with hope. You were not a fan of Caladan but Arrakis sounded a hundred times worse.
“No. We are but you will not come with us,” Lady Jessica informed you.
At this point, you were confused.
“Am I moving to my grandparents earlier? Or… Or will I stay here to represent House Atreides?” Your eyes sparkled at the idea.
You already imagined yourself ruling the planet in your father’s name. Wearing regal dresses and being important. Perhaps proving to him that you’d be good at this job and he would let you do it for the rest of your life.
“You will help us to prevent the upcoming war with the Harkonnens,” Lady Jessica smiled softly. “You will be sent to Giedi Prime to marry the Baron’s heir.”
The sparkles in your eyes disappeared in an instant as your hands dropped down the gown you had been holding.
“No…” you whispered. “This cannot be true… My father would never agree to that.”
“He just did.”
“It’s… It’s your mending, you witch,” your fists clenched. “I must speak to my father myself,” you walked past her furiously.
You didn’t know what to think. But as long as you didn’t hear that from your father, it felt like it was a cruel joke on Lady Jessica’s side.
“Father,” you pushed the door leading to his office without knocking. He was sitting behind his desk as if he had already been expecting you. There was a deep wrinkle on his forehead and his eyes looked sad and worried when he laid them on you. “Tell me it is not true,” you demanded.
“You will be sent to the Harkonnens,” the Duke nodded his head.
“You can’t do this to me!” You yelled and banged your fists on his desk. The loud sound echoed through the chamber. “I had my whole life already planned… You cannot just…”
“I can,” he interrupted you and stood up, “and I will. We were not supposed to move to Arrakis. We were not supposed to be involved in this spice conflict. Things changed for all of us. You will go to Giedi Prime and secure the alliance.”
“How can you even speak to me about the alliance with them?” You asked. “How? Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been taught about the Harkonnens. I’ve been taught everything about them for the simple fact that they are our enemies. How can you send your daughter to them just like that?”
“You’ve said it yourself. You’ve been studying them since you were a little girl. You know their culture and their customs. It will be easy for you,” he tried to convince you.
Convince you to… what exactly? Convince you to agree to this without being forced to? Convince you that it would be indeed easy? Like it had been easy for your mother…? And all the women of all history forced to get married before her?
It was never easy. It was only easy for men to say it.
“I wish it was women ruling over the world,” you gritted through your teeth. “And I wish it was men being sent away from their homes and families to unknown worlds to start their life over, to become someone else’s property, to obey. I really do wish that, father.”
“That remains nothing but a wish,” he commented on that with a sad smile. “It brings me no pleasure to send you there. But you have your duties, too.”
“I have studied their customs and their culture. They are monsters. You are throwing me to the wolves. I will not survive this,” your voice finally broke as the realisation hit you that it was indeed happening.
You would be sent to Giedi Prime.
“Father!” Paul’s voice interrupted you both as he ran inside the chamber. His cheeks were flushed as he was taking deep breaths in after running. “You can’t do that! You can’t send her there!”
Oh, how cute your little brother was sometimes.
“The decision has been made, my son,” the Duke told him.
“Don’t be angry at him,” you turned around to face Paul. “You can thank your mother for that,” you added viciously before leaving the chamber angrily and going back to your own.
Tumblr media
Everything was packed and the castle seemed to be as empty as never before. The ships were ready to take off and the Caladan weather was saying goodbye in its own manner – with a never ending rain.
The thing was, your family was going to Arrakis. You were going to Giedi Prime. Alone.
Well, you had two of your maids with you like your mother had been gifted two from her homeplanet on her way to Caladan. And you had your mother’s wedding dress, too. Beautiful, handmade snow-white lace, layered and folded in all the right places. It was elegant and innocent looking. Your mother’s maids had been telling you stories that for a moment they thought your father would love her. Because he had been so mesmerised by her in that dress.
It hadn’t happened, though.
“I thought you’d go with me. You or Paul at least. Some man from the family to give me away to them. To stay for the ceremony and make sure I am safe,” you told your father as you were walking beside him. It was your last walk together on Caladan.
“I can’t go now, I am needed on Arrakis. Your safety is ensured. They would not dare to hurt you. You’re Princess Atreides, don’t let them make you forget about that,” your father put his hands on your shoulders.
“Sometimes I wish I wasn’t,” you admitted and looked down, defeated. Your father’s hands dropped down to hold yours. He furrowed his brows at how cold and shaky they were.
“Have some courage, my child.”
“Why does it feel like you’re getting rid of the burden?” You asked while biting on your lower lip.
“You have never been a burden to me,” he pulled you closer for a hug. You felt warm tears rolling down your cheeks.
You really wanted to believe his words but you couldn’t. You still felt like an unwanted daughter and a painful reminder of a woman he had been forced to marry once.
“You are my daughter, remember that,” Duke Leto took a step back to wipe the tears off of your cheeks. “You will forever be.”
You didn’t say anything to that. How would you even tell him that you wished you weren’t?
You went back to the hangar silently. Everyone was waiting for you so the ships would take off. Paul ran up to you and gave you a hug.
“I wish you could go with us on Arrakis,” he said with tears in his eyes.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’d also rather go to Arrakis than Giedi Prime,” you confessed. “That planet sounds dreadful.”
“They’re lucky to have you. You’ll make it bloom,” Paul tried to cheer you up.
“Or they will poison me and I will wither,” you smiled sadly and kissed his forehead goodbye.
You only nodded your head at Lady Jessica and she nodded her head back with a smile.
You had been trying to overthink her plans. She either wanted you on Giedi Prime badly or she didn’t want you on Arrakis for some reason. But there was no point of losing sleep over that. You had other things to worry about now. Because finding out her motives wouldn’t change your situation anyway.
You had been informed in a message from the Harkonnens to your father that your husband would be Baron’s nephew named Feyd-Rautha who was your brother’s age and a future baron. His current title was na-baron and he was known for winning many fights as a gladiator. Really, the whole message from the Harkonnens sounded more like an eulogy praising him and his achievements. But it didn’t include his portrait or anything said about his character.
Your achievements were nonexistent but you were a Princess and no one expected any from you. Still, it felt humiliating when your father had been writing in his message that his daughter was innocent, pure, well-behaved, educated on the matter of the customs of her new house. Tidy, pretty, ready to give heirs. It made you feel nauseous.
Tumblr media
You knew that the atmosphere on Giedi Prime was unusual after centuries of pollution. You knew everything about this planet and people. Still, looking outside the ship’s window, at first you thought something was wrong with your eyesight.
“Everything is black and white… I don’t see colour,” you rubbed your eyelids.
“It is normal, Princess. The colours cannot be seen outside,” one of the maids reminded you in a calm tone of voice.
You wondered how they could be so calm, your maids. After all, they were moving away from homes, too. And they would never leave to Arrakis with the ship like its captain and the crew. No, they’d stay on this planet with you forever.
“Time to get dressed, Princess,” the second maid entered your cabin. “The captain says we are landing soon.”
“We will be greeted by the servants. They will lead us inside where you will be officially introduced to the Baron and his family,” your first maid reminded you of the schedule. “What dress would you like to wear now, Princess?”
The wedding would take place tomorrow. Now you had to choose a dress to make your first impression.
“I’ll go with something bright,” you decided. “Modest, humble. I want to present myself to them exactly as they imagine me.”
“How would that be then, Princess?” The maid asked, slightly confused.
“Like a prey,” you explained.
They looked at each other but they said nothing. You stood up and opened your arms to let them undress you from your nightgown and then dress you. They put a creamy white silk dress on your body. It could have been your wedding dress if you hadn't already chosen your mother’s.
The jewellery was modest, too. The biggest and the most outstanding piece was a necklace with your house’s emblem. You asked for delicate makeup, too but your maids still made sure the blush on your cheeks would stand out.
When the ship landed, you left it with your maids and a few crew members. The Harkonnen servants looked both scary and scared – and that was an odd mix, especially in that black-and-white light. Their eyes were huge and dark, their skin pale and their heads bald. Both, men and women. They were also dressed in long white robes and they seemed to be terrified of doing something wrong. The men showed your crew members where to take all of your bags and chests. The women bowed down to you and led you inside the huge black fortress.
You swallowed thickly at the size and architectural style of it. It was black and industrial; reminded you of a jail for very dangerous criminals. You couldn’t imagine spending the rest of your life in a fortress like that. Certainly not after growing up on Caladan, in a castle on a cliff. You’d spend your whole days walking around and admiring nature. But on Giedi Prime there was no nature.
The air made you cough and you were exposed to it for five minutes maximum. Still, your lungs felt as if they were filled with a black, slimy liquid. You tried to cough it out before entering the Baron’s huge throne room.
One of the maids tapped your back lightly and you thanked her with a nod of your head. There were tears in the corners of your eyes now from that air and from trying to stop yourself from coughing when the heavy black doors opened in front of you.
“Princess (Y/N) Atreides,” you were announced.
You tried not to show any emotion on your face as you walked towards the throne. Your maids stayed behind and you had to face Baron Vladimir Harkonnen on your own.
As scary as he looked – especially with all the machinery around him – you tried to remember what your father had once told you. He was just a pathetic man who would be easily killed if someone had enough courage to stand very close to him and cut all these bubbles and tubes off. It was his morbid obesity – not his cruelty or special abilities – that made him look even less human than other people on this planet. He was a cruel man, of course he was. But he was also sick and that was the reason for his unusual looks that were so scary to most. You tried to remember about that but it was difficult because he was clearly the most powerful person in this room as he watched you with a smirk.
The power of that gaze was so strong that you stumbled a little on your way. And then someone else’s chuckle made you finally remember that Baron Vladimir Harkonnen wasn’t there alone.
You laid your embarrassed eyes on the young man standing next to the baron. His eyes were watching you closely and they were squinted as if he was a snake. The other man, standing on the other side of the Baron, was much older. So you assumed that the laughing one was your husband-to-be.
Your heart skipped a beat at the sight of him. He looked better than the other men you had seen so far on Giedi Prime. But it didn’t mean he was handsome or that he looked kind. On the contrary, he looked terrifying. And the way he laughed at your clumsiness was nothing but cruel. You felt blood in your veins turn cold.
You would die on this planet. Sooner than later. You would die, you thought. You wouldn’t survive it. You weren’t able to. At this very moment you felt like laying down on the floor and crying already. How were you supposed to keep being brave? It was impossible.
You were not raised for this. You were not prepared.
You suddenly felt angry at your father. At Lady Jessica. At Paul, even, for not stopping them. It no longer felt like you had been sent here to be ridden of. It felt like you had been sent here to die.
“Princess Atreides,” Baron’s voice caught you by surprise. You didn’t expect it to be so rough. But on the other hand, what else would you expect from a man like him?
He was visibly mocking you as you stood in front of him and bowed down a little. None of the men bowed down to you, though. You were a Princess, they were supposed to do that. But they did not care and you had no courage to remind them of the courtesy.
“Baron Harkonnen,” you greeted him.
“Welcome to my world,” he opened his arms. “I do hope you find it pleasant.”
You swallowed thickly. Another mockery.
“I do find it interesting,” you answered diplomatically.
“Let me introduce my nephews to you,” he pointed at the older man. “Count Glossu Rabban.”
“My Lord,” you bowed down a little again but he did not move. In fact, he looked quite bored to be there.
“Princess,” he only said and nodded his head very slightly. He was not a pleasant man and he was big and intimidating.
“And my favourite,” Baron pointed at the younger one, the one you had been trying to avoid looking at for a while now. You feared to lay your eyes on him because seeing him would make him real. As long as you weren’t looking, you thought, he wasn't existing. But the world didn’t work this way.
You were also surprised that the Baron didn’t hesitate to so openly admit which one was his favourite. As Paul’s sister, for a short while, you almost felt sorry for Count Rabban. You had this one thing in common with him – being second favourite.
It was weird to realise how similar some things might be between people so different.
“Na-baron Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen,” Baron introduced the younger man. “Your husband-to-be.”
“My Lord,” you bowed down at him.
“Princess,” he greeted you with a hiss. Tone of his voice was identical to his uncle’s and it made shivers run down your spine.
This was the voice of the man you’d spend the rest of your life with…? You found it difficult to imagine how you’d ever get used to it.
He didn’t bow down nor nod his head even a little. He had a menacing smirk on his lips as he watched you so intensely that you had to look away for a while. From the corner of your eye, you noticed him licking his lips in a vulgar manner.
“You will be taken to your chambers now to rest after your journey. The wedding will take place tomorrow,” was all the Baron announced and both of his nephews left the room just like that.
Not that you actually wanted to spend time with Feyd-Rautha but you were surprised that they didn’t care at all for you to get to know him a bit better before the wedding.
“One more thing,” Baron said when you were about to leave the room as well. You turned around to look at him. “A medic will visit you. You will obey his orders. Don’t get shy when he tells you to take your clothes off. He will not hurt you.”
“Y-yes, my Lord,” you nodded your head. You were in no position to tell him you disagreed. You might have been a Princess but you quickly realised it meant nothing to them and your father wasn't here to remind them.
Tumblr media
You were surprised to see the room you had been taken to. It was not princess-worthy. In fact, it was not even guest-worthy. It looked more like a prison cell. You had the privacy of your own bathroom but there was nothing more except for the bed and your bags and chests scattered all over the floor. The room had no balcony and no windows either.
“Is it my room?” You asked the servant girl. She looked terrified when you spoke to her.
“Yes, Princess.”
“Is this a joke?” You asked her and she took a step back, probably used to the Harkonnens being violent towards her.
“It’s temporary… For now…” She stuttered out.
“Alright,” you nodded, feeling sorry for her. “I do not blame you. What is your name?” You tried to ask but her eyes widened even further and she ran away out of your room.
When she left it, the doors closed heavily and you could hear that the guards locked them.
“Marvellous,” you whispered to yourself with a sigh.
You took a shower and went to bed. You were exhausted after the journey but you were also too anxious to actually fall asleep. Under your pillow, though, you found a small black box. You opened it and it contained two white pills and a note.
It will help you sleep – Baron H.
You didn’t trust any pill given to you by the Baron Harkonnen but you were desperate to fall asleep and forget about your troubles for a while. And if it had killed you, well… You would be grateful, to be honest.
You put one of the pills on your tongue and it dissolved quickly, leaving a bittersweet taste. Two minutes later you were already asleep.
Tumblr media
In the morning you were awakened by your maids and the Harkonnen medic. He ordered them to undress you and he inspected your body all over. It felt humiliating but you were aware that some families had this custom of checking the brides thoroughly before the wedding.
What surprised you more, though, was the fact he was drawing your blood, too. And he tried to make an injection of a weird substance, but you stopped him.
“What is this?” You asked, terrified.
Sleeping pills was one thing but getting injected with an odd liquid to your veins was another.
“It’s for health, Princess,” he tried to explain but it was obvious that you didn’t believe him. You moved away from the syringe as far as you could.
“What is this?” You asked once again.
“It will help to control your cycle,” he admitted.
“My cycle?” You furrowed your brow.
“What do you think is your purpose here?” He asked, without even addressing you properly. That was no way for a medic to speak to a Princess. But you assumed that if you told Baron Harkonnen about it, he’d only laugh. No one was taking you seriously here.
Your father’s voice echoed through your mind… That no one would harm you because you were Princess Atreides… Oh, how surprised he would be now. If he had been here. But he was not. You kept thinking about his absence all the time. How could he leave you like that…?
“My purpose here is to ensure an alliance between my house and The Harkonnen Dynasty,” you straightened yourself.
“No, your purpose is to give na-baron an heir and secure the Harkonnen bloodline. You will be given many injections like this and many tests will be run on your body. None of this will harm you but it will ensure that you will give na-baron a healthy son who would inherit only the best genetic material from both sides,” the medic told you.
“This is insane,” you shook your head. It reminded you of the Bene Gesserit ways… only it was even worse.
“Insane or not, Princess, you will obey,” the medic approached you with the syringe and injected the liquid into your thigh. You hissed at that and he chuckled. “Why would we hurt you before you give our na-baron an heir? Until that moment you are the most precious and protected cargo in this fortress.”
Until that time. You didn’t want to think what would happen after.
“Your bloodline is not as perfect as your brother’s but it will do. Especially with my help,” he patted your thigh and walked away to hide your blood samples into his bag. “Your son might rule the whole Empire one day.”
You pursed your lips, trying not to say anything because you were sure that the medic was also Baron's spy. You wanted to tell him, though, that they were all insane.
“Oh, also,” he said before leaving your room, “na-baron wants to see you before the wedding. Tell the guards when you’re ready and they will take you to his chamber,” he bowed down to you and left.
“Is it customary here to consummate the marriage before the ceremony?” One of your maids asked you.
“No,” you shook your head. “But this man doesn’t look like he cares about any customs. None of them do,” you shook your head, trying not to burst into tears.
Shakingly, you allowed your maids to put your mother’s wedding dress on you. It had been adjusted to fit you perfectly but now you almost regretted choosing it for the wedding. The Harkonnens didn’t deserve to see it nor to see you wearing it. It was sacred and this planet was the opposite of that.
Your bridal make up was a bit bolder than the day before. Still humble but more visible. Your hair was done really pretty and there were small white pearls here and there that complimented your beautiful dress and the pearl earrings.
You smiled sadly at your maids and knocked upon the door of your room for the guards to open it. You heard them unlock it and you walked out carefully, holding your dress up to make sure it wouldn’t get dirty on the floor.
“I am ready to see na-baron,” you told them and they nodded.
You followed them through the fortress, thinking of how much in fact you were not ready to see him. A few times you gained the courage to face him but it would quickly disappear. And you still were walking through the never ending mazes of corridors and halls.
The part of the fortress where they took you was much prettier than the one you had spent your night in. You could see that it was a palace where the nobility lived. And you became quite sure that your last night’s room had indeed been a cell.
The guards finally stopped in front of one of the heavy, black doors and knocked upon them. You swallowed thickly, realising that you still had no strategy on how to deal with Feyd-Rautha.
You hoped that you’d get an idea once you’d get to know him more.
“Come in,” his deep voice ordered and the guards opened the door. They showed you with their hands to walk inside, so you did, and they closed the door loudly behind you.
Feyd-Rautha was standing in the middle of the room, surrounded by two servant girls and three women that looked nothing like the servants but they also did not look like any ladies. They were dressed in black leather and eyeing you up and down as if you were a dessert. They were clearly making fun of you and your wedding outfit. They were making you feel uncomfortable and you’d rather be alone with him than have their company.
Feyd himself did not mind their rude behaviour. He was shirtless and wearing nothing but black pants.
“Come, come,” he encouraged you to walk closer, “I am getting ready for our ceremony,” he informed you and nodded at one of the servant girls. She was working on putting the clothes on his pale and incredibly muscular body.
You realised that he’d be able to break you in half if he wanted to. And you did not like that idea.
You walked up to him, slowly and nervously. You were scared to disobey his order.
“Well, well, well,” he teased and three women giggled viciously.
“Who are they?” You asked, having a feeling that they were his lovers.
Your pride and honour won with your fear. After all, you were a Princess. They were no equal to you.
“Oh, they’re my pets,” he explained to you with a smirk. “Don’t worry, you’ll be my pet, too. Just of a different kind.”
The women hissed at you jealously and you straightened yourself to present yourself more dignified.
“Why did you want to see me?” You asked.
He froze for a second as his eyes scanned you.
“You have a big mouth, Princess,” he noticed.
“Do I? What makes you think so? Because I speak to you like you are my equal? We are equal,” you reminded him.
Yes, he was scary. But he was pissing you off. Everything was pissing you off about this whole situation. And your fear would often turn into anger. You had problems with that ever since you were a little girl. Spoiled little Princess, your father would call you. And when you were getting angry, you weren’t thinking of the consequences.
“That is where you are mistaken,” Feyd moved swiftly and before you noticed, you had him standing right in front of you with a sharp blade pointed at your face. “We are not equal, woman.”
That was when you realised your mistake. The medic had told you that you were the most protected cargo. But not for Feyd. For his uncle.
“My Lord, the Baron said to treat Princess gently,” one of the servant girls gasped and you laid your eyes on her. It was the same girl who had shown you to your room the previous night. She had to like you if she risked so much.
She quickly regretted that outburst of courage. Feyd moved his arm without even looking at her and slit her throat.
Your eyes widened as you had never seen death like this. And the blood from her neck splashed all over your face and your beautiful wedding gown.
You burst into tears, not being able to control it anymore.
“Aw,” Feyd raised your chin up with his blooded blade as his three pets laughed at you, “my delicate Princess is crying over dead slaves?”
You did cry about her. And about yourself. But that was not the answer he wanted.
“You’ve ruined my dress,” you sobbed and he smirked.
“Don’t cry, my pet, my servants will wash it,” he took the blade away.
“I don’t have any other for the wedding,” you sniffed and tried to dry your cheeks with the palms of your hands. They soon became bloody since your face had not been wet only with the tears.
“I think you look good for the wedding,” Feyd walked away from you to let the remaining servant girl continue dressing him up. “In fact, I think you look better now,” he added and you looked at him like he was crazy.
Well, he was crazy.
“You might leave now. We’ll see each other at the ceremony,” he told you and you nodded your head before turning around to leave his chamber as soon as possible. You wanted to be out of this room.
“You may feast on your breakfast, my pets,” was the last thing you heard before walking out and from the corner of your eye you saw the three women jumping on the dead servant girl’s body.
You felt sick and dizzy. You wanted to scream and run away but the guards took you by your arms to guide you to the throne room that had been decorated for the ceremony of your wedding to na-baron Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.
