Cozy Hamlets
Build, design, and relax in your very own medieval haven.
Cozy Hamlets is a cozy medieval town-builder without the stress of resource management or point scoring, just endless creativity allowing the creation of idyllic medieval towns through the games intuitive and user-friendly controls, offering the perfect escape into a world where tranquility reigns supreme. -
Price: $6.99 (Currently on sale for $4.19)
What I expected: A world-builder with multiple styles of buildings, nature, and set pieces
What I got: A selection of only 60 items and no instructions
Finding out how to switch from the 20 buildings to the 20 set pieces or 20 trees and rocks took trial and error- it would definitely benefit for even a pop-up with the controls. There's also only one style of building to choose from, and it isn't the same as the buildings in the thumbnail/'cover art'.
Speaking of the building, it's extremely sensitive and placing buildings in line with each other becomes a test of your patience quickly. There's no grid to snap the buildings to, and they can't be placed too close to each other, which makes placing groups of buildings together awkward and leaves gaps that could easily fit other buildings. For a game calling itself a cozy town builder, I found myself losing my patience with the fiddly controls and off-centre buildings when the softest touch sent the building halfway across the map.

Raft Life
Raft Life - Build, Farm, Protect and Expand Your Perfect Raft!
The last thing you remember was your boat sinking... You wake up in the middle of the ocean afloat on a small raft. Long gone is your luxury life in the city, the cars, the apartment, the parties. Now you have to rebuild your life at sea, do you have the survival skills? Do you have the courage to survive and build a new life? -
Price: $9.99 CAD (Currently on sale for $3.99)
What I expected: A cheap, cutesy raft rip-off
What I got: A cheap, cutesy phone game (that is available for free with in-app purchases on the phone!!!) that's nothing like raft
It was a fun time-waster at first, but lost any appeal after a couple hours. Once it hits that point, it becomes a boring slog, wandering across the raft and occasionally stabbing the shark, trying to remember which stall you sell which resource at. Any plot teased by the description is non-existent, and once your raft has all it's parts made there's not much more to do than repeat collecting and selling items for no real reason.

So, I have a bad habit called the great deals section in the switch store. And most of the time it goes great, but other times I buy a game and it's just Not Worth It.
So, this! Reviews of games I got that weren't worth the couple bucks I spent on them
