WASHING RICE. the thing we are talking about is WASHING RICE. PASSING WATER OVER RICE. an action that takes anywhere from 30-120 seconds. you 'DON'T KNOW HOW' to WASH RICE. you 'DON'T CARE ENOUGH TO LEARN' how to WASH RICE. the concept of IMMERSING RICE IN WATER has passed you by because you were not TAUGHT AS A CHILD.

A phenomenon I’ve seen in fandom with a large central ship is that people will have their shipping goggles activated at such an intensity, they doggedly erase character traits that don’t contribute to pushing forward romance. The two individuals in the relationship are rendered utterly one-dimensional through the loss of any individual aspects of their story or personality that could be interpreted as an obstacle to shipping.
This makes fanon interpretations of the characters boring and uninteresting to read about because they have no character traits other than being in love with their romantic interest. I like shipping as much as the next guy, but I hate fandom-at-large’s tendency to only engage with a story through shipping, and especially to the extent that the characters are barely individuals, and do not exist outside of the central romantic relationship

listen. people who say aces and aros don't belong in the queer community are the embodiment of "i believe my experiences are universal". and even then, they ignore the similarities between ace/aro oppression and how other sexualities are oppressed.

People underestimate how much it fucks you up to be subtly excluded as a kid. I would try to talk to my classmates and be met with disinterest or annoyance. The one friend I had, who I clung to and nodded along to his every word, had other friends he liked just as much or more. And his other friends didn’t care for me at all.
I look back at pictures from the time and see how separated I was from them. I remember knowing I was different. I remember posing questions about the world to the girls playing next to me and realizing that they had never asked the same ones to themselves. That the ways we thought couldn’t be more different.
I kept myself amused with my own fanatical stories and musings in my head. I would wander the playground on a circular path, imagining a friend and being sorely disappointed when it didn’t feel as real as I’d hoped.
There was a bubble separating me from everyone else, thin, and nearly invisible, but with a pearly sheen you could catch under the right conditions. I knew it was there, they knew it was there, and it changed me

I think people need to start seeing love as a neutral emotion. All kinds of love. You can love something, and use that love for good things or bad things. You can love something and do nothing.
Love isn't inherently good. No one is a worse person for not feeling it. No one is a better person for feeling it.

I kinda hate it when stories try to make Superman out to be some kind of impossible ideal embodiment of goodness when the point is Clark's decency is entirely unremarkable. The enlightened Kryptonians with their advanced culture and science didn't teach him decency, a pair of Kansas farmers did. Superman is good because people are good.

everyone is always acting like there is some crisis of human interaction with one another because everyone is overly sensitive to how strangers approach them and like. no actually its because nobody has any fucking manners. social etiquette has legitimately vanished. it makes interacting with strangers miserable because people don’t know how to fucking behave in public.
like it is rude to stare. it is rude to point. it is rude to have a loud phone conversation in a quiet place. it’s rude to listen to music or videos or whatever on your device with no headphones on a loud volume, or at any volume in an enclosed or quiet space. these are rude things to do. like i’m sorry while some etiquette is silly, an acceptable level of decorum is necessary to make existing in public bearable for everybody…….it is LITERALLY common courtesy
