ok now that i'm over freaking out about eursulon's whole deal with the kids and lucio's ferry, i can talk about the other stuff that happened this episode

carrow was so interesting! the gargoyles are such a cool part of worldbuilding, and brennan really channeled his inner new yorker with those dockworkers lol. i absolutely LOVE how they speak very aggressively and don't love that their work is being interrupted, but they're also helpful and kind. as a native new yorker it was instantly recognizable and wonderful. the clam was hilarious, cyril and enzo's glamours were fun, and i love ame delving into the human side of her station and letting the city speak to her. erika likened it to eursulon in a forest, but it also reminds me of a different character of lou's, kingston brown from uptown (bringing it back to new york once more!). all in all just a really cool bit of worldbuilding

and speaking of worldbuilding, THE CAPITAL! i don't know how to spell it so i won't yet, but the image of land lifted up in a way that is actually inconvenient but indicates status is such a cool way to differentiate this city from carrow, which is much more working class. the capital can afford to make travel more difficult. and the prince saluting suvi! what could it mean?? i know a lot of people were thinking that there might be a marriage arranged, and right now i'm concerned they're right

the wizard slate. pissed off that she lost ame, no doubt. also pissed off that suvi betrayed the citadel. that whole interaction had my gut in knots. i'm so worried about suvi and her safety. she's pretty fucking trapped

all in all, incredible episode and i feel sick! thank you wbn cast and crew, i'm in hell :)

I want to talk about one specific thing the intrepid heroes are killing it at in this first episode. Now, there's absolutely no problem with information in-story being presented by the DM, as in "you remember that.." "you know that this is.." "you've done this before and.." because you aren't ACTUALLY your character and do not have all information about the world in your memory. But in this first episode, the intrepid heroes have shown that they KNOW this world. Sure, Brennan gives information, but a not insignificant amount of the exposition in this episode was delivered BY THE PLAYERS, IN-CHARACTER. Titles of Monty's books are said out loud with ease. Daisuke organically suggests "Do you think he's in Bellenuit?" already with preexisting knowledge about him, and they have an in-character conversations about Bellenuit with complete familiarity of the place and what it's like. When Monty hears that there's a ship, he asks "Is it the Kingfisher?" because he already knows that that's a ship Marya has, which HASN'T been mentioned by name yet. In-character, this is PERFECT in how effortlessly it establishes their knowledge, and makes character naturally feel like real people living in this world; and out of character, it's a testament to the effort and enthusiasm and skill put into it.
