They’ve got knives in their feet. 😼
Tumblr media
Kitty Jim can get a little feisty when held, and their claws are sharp as daggers, so just be careful with your hands! 🧡🐈‍⬛🧡 I'll go and draw kitty Archie and kitty Olu to keep them calm and happy.

This! I tend to use ‘they’ for Mizu because they walk “between” genders, but if he were going to pick one it would obviously be man, no question. Everyone calling him ‘she’ bugs the crap out of me. He’s gone to great lengths to present themself as anything but ‘she.’

This is literally his reaction anytime anyone calls him a girl, this is a whole ass man. This is my pathetic little meow meow not your girlboss stop misgendering him
As a transmasc I could write a whole dissertation on why Mizu identifies more as a man than a woman. This is literally one of the first and only good trans male representation I’ve seen in media, and in the lead role nonetheless. I will get into fights over this, I will battle the original creators intent if I must. Blue Eye Samurai is a story about women’s place in society, it’s a story about gender roles, it’s a story about being outcast from society, etc. We literally get the reverse story in Akemi’s arc, about a woman learning what it is to be a woman in a society. If Mizu had half a brain they would’ve killed all four targets years ago by weaseling in and out of brothels. But he chose the man’s path (a stupid one yes), but what’s more man than that? It’s the nature versus nurture. Even though their mother originally forced masculinity upon them, they chose that path for themselves once she was gone. And then we see the mother try and force him back into femininity, now that it was more convenient for Mizu to be a girl and provide them both a comfortable married life. A life that Mizu ultimately rejects, going back to an identity that feels right and comfortable to him.
Yes that comfort happens to be bathed in bloodshed but that’s a whole other topic, one the show does very well in breaking down more clearly than the whole gender identity side of things.

The whump fandom usually prioritizes male characters, so tell me in the tags your favourite female characters to whump! OCs or canon characters, whumpees or whumpers - name some women.

I had to make a new side blog just for this rant. Why do so many in the whump community just fully ignore whump of anyone who’s not a cis man?
I just watched Altered Carbon. Whumpapedia lists like 6 whumps, all of the male mc in his various forms. But you know what’s not listed? SO. MUCH. WHUMP. of multiple female-bodied mcs. Amazing tropes like slashed across the gut, stabbed through the shoulder, fighting on broken glass, shot and bleeding out, bridal carry, body modification, ‘magical’ exhaustion/using powers hurts. All fully ignored! How am I supposed to accurately judge if I’ll like a show’s whumps if you only list like 1/3 of them?
Blue-Eye Samurai is another show I’m grateful to have watched on my own because based on the coverage On Here I never would have known it is deeply, DEEPLY whumpy. Mizu gets stabbed like, twice an episode. They have to cut themself out of a gate that impaled through their foot and then RUN AND FIGHT ON IT WITH THE ROD STILL INSIDE. They fall off a cliff, fight through multiple slash wounds, then finally faint once they have a moment to slow down. They trail so much blood after a gut wound that the enemy finds them because of it. Like??? Why is no one talking about this??? Because they’re a trans-coded badass/gender nonconforming woman?
Like I get it. Sometimes whump of people who are not cis men can be exploitative or whatever. It can also tend to rely on rape, which imo makes it rape and not whump (coming in with probably controversial opinions already). But it also can really, REALLY not do either of those things! And when it doesn’t it should be celebrated just as much as Bland White Guy #134. Not ignored and not even given a mention on the one site that catalogs such things.
