My dad thinks trans people are a cult.
please help me change his mind.
I’m a 16 year old kid. I believe I am non-binary, and masc leaning.
He’s almost sure that I’ve been indoctrinated, or that I’ve been convinced of something I’m not, but he’s trying to understand and I think that there’s still hope for me to show him what this means to me. He said himself that he might be wrong.
Please, if you have any links to any videos, articles, or anything at all from trusted sources that could show things like:
The benefits of affirming in the house
The ACTUAL detransition rate
Why kids might be trans and what studies have been conducted to understand them
Cases of trans kids in accepting households
An explanation of what gender is, at least as much as we CAN define it
Reblog or comment with them. I want so badly to be myself around my own parents. I’m not giving up on them yet. Thank you.

It is inherently fun and sexy to say statements that swap the traditional genders of pronouns and terms mid-statement, such as: "I'm going to make him my wife" "She's my boyfriend" "Who says a guy can't be a pretty princess?" "That girl's the coolest dude I've ever met" "She's a madman who has to be stopped" "It's not his fault he's a material girl" Gender is a set of watercolors and the prettiest shades come from mixing the paints together.

Okay so I just watched a video of a boy who once identified as trans still got bottom surgery after he realized he was cis and people were so fucking rude? Like just because this cis dude has a vagina people were calling him transphobic and wishing death upon him.
So this is a reminder that when we as a community advocate for bodily autonomy and gender surgeries that means everyone regardless of gender can do whatever they want with their bodies.
If someone who is cisgender wants top/bottom surgery THEY CAN GET IT. If someone wants facial plastic surgeries that we usually find creepy like buccal fat removal or eye lifts THEY CAN GET IT. And here’s the really controversial one but if someone wants to do things that harm their body like hard drugs or diy mods THEY CAN DO IT!
Because body autonomy isn’t just “I can get bottom surgery to pass” or “I can get an abortion” it’s also all the wild stuff that makes us uncomfortable and that’s okay.

So I have a gender-related question to y'all. It's something I've been wondering of as of late.
Please reblog for a bigger sample size!

I’m going to tell you something nobody told me:
It is O-fucking-Kay if you think you’re trans except for that one thing
If you think you might be a girl but you like having your hair short, or you don’t like wearing dresses, or you don’t want to wear makeup, that is totally okay
If you think you might be a guy but you like having long hair or you really love skirts or you wear lots of sparkly jewellery, that is totally okay
If you think you might be nonbinary but you really like presenting in a way that aligns with your agab, that is totally okay
If you think you might be trans but you aren’t sure if you want hormones, that is totally okay
If you think you’re trans “except for…” that is totally okay and get this: you don’t have to change that part of yourself to be trans
You can if you want to, but if you don’t, that is totally okay

You can change your name, it doesn't matter how often you change it, it doesn't matter however many names you go by, if you want to, you can change it, you could change it every week, every month, every year, it doesn't matter, you can change your name, don't feel bad about it

Actually, I AM trapped in the wrong body.
I AM a boy trapped in a girl’s body.
I WAS born in the wrong body.
I DO hate my body.
I DO want to change it FOR ME and NO ONE ELSE.
I AM distressed because my body ISN’T right.
And I’m definitely not the only one.
It’s ok if you, as an individual trans person, hate the “born in the wring body,” thing. But stop trying to convince people that every trans person hates that way of describing our experiences.
You are 100% allowed to use whatever descriptions you want for your experiences, but so are we. We who WERE born in the wrong body and feel most comfortable describing it that way.
This is in no way a call-out post, or trying to offend anyone. It’s simply a request to stop acting like trans people are a monolith who ALL prefer the SAME EXACT terms.
