My name is <Somaya>, and I never imagined I’d be writing something like this. But life in Gaza leaves us with no other option but to [speak our pain out loud< and >ask for help with a trembling heart].

💔A few days ago, my beloved father, :Ismail:, was severely injured in a missile strike. He was just trying to protect us—his family of eight—when the explosion shook everything. 😭💔

He was hit in the abdomen by shrapnel, and the injury caused (dangerous internal damage). 😭😭💔💔

The doctors say he has a [serious intestinal leak< and needs >emergency surgery].

But here in Gaza, such treatment is not possible. We need to transfer him out(for proper care—and the cost is overwhelming: <over $5,000>).

We are a family struggling to survive in a war zone. We’ve already lost our home.

We sleep in fear every night.

And now, we are watching our father suffer, helplessly.Please, from the bottom of my heart—I ask for your support. Even _sharing this_ message can reach someone who might help.

Thinking about when I worked at a shitty restaurant + one night it was just me + 3 other women on closing shift, so some guy came in the back and waved a knife around, presumably for money but I’m not actually certain, bc he was met with the bartender holding a much bigger knife, a tiny teenager wielding a cast iron pan, an elderly woman holding up a crockpot of clearly boiling water, and me, turning on the meat slicer with eye contact for maximum effect. He left, but the moral of the story is not girl power or whatever, it’s just. Why the fuck would you threaten a room full of underpaid and sleep-deprived blue-collar workers surrounded by lethal weapons.

Black people fight for everybody. We stand in solidarity with women, lgbt people, poor people all over the world of every skin color and background. Every religion and nationality.

The Global South has always referred to the countries massively economically crippled and forced into subservience and dependence by Global North countries, whether by military force or neoliberalism (which go hand in hand).

22 people died while attempting to receive aid today. 16 near the Netzarim corridor in the central area and 6 killed in khan younis. This was today. this is right now. 13 ppl were killed in Al-shati camp today, which is where my friend ( @moayeshblog) was displaced from. these martyrs aren’t numbers and they aren’t just a sacrifice but they had families, hopes, dreams, and wants like the rest of the world.

my close friend mohammed, who’ve i’ve been in contact with for ab 7 months now, lives in a reality where he must weigh his life against the lives of his family. because wanting to eat has become synonymous with trading your life for bread in the Strip. he almost died yesterday for flour.

but he wouldn’t have to risk everything if you can just give anything. Any amount you give goes towards buying the expensive food in the market, saving him from having to receive ‘flour dipped in blood’ as ppl in Gaza have labeled it.

i know it’s uncomfortable, being responsible for life in these moments but it’s even more uncomfortable to live mohammed’s reality. $5 is the only thing required of you while he’s sacrificing his mind, body, happiness, & spirit on a daily basis.

Potentially hot take but one of the reasons we need art and music in schools is that, taught correctly, they are ideal avenues for teaching kids how to do something, kinda suck at it, keep going anyways and improve over time.

And THAT is one of the most valuable skill sets a human being can have. THAT is the skill set that unlocks soooooo many others.

A LOT of people I see with anxiety and depression do not have this skill set. To suck at something is a threat. Proof that they are doomed to suck at it forever. And then, often, that either THEY suck forever or the task must be stupid/useless/pointless (whence we get AI art fans who have decided actually making art is pointless and degrading the labor and skills of others is fine because these are useless skills).

Or you get the freeze- the inability to try things in case you fail. The sudden lancing shame and humiliation or hopelessness. The sense that anything you haven't learned by now you can't learn. Which is so heartbreaking and so untrue.

I just hate it.

"What if I write it and it's bad" "what if I draw it and it's bad" "what if I play it and it sounds bad" DOING IT BAD IS HOW YOU LEARN TO DO IT GOOD! You can't skip the process of leaning and the process is FUN if you let it be what it needs to be!
