Now I graduated. Money is hard when you have to do 16-24 hours of unpaid work (internship) for 16 months. But I found a full time job that pays really well that starts in 2 weeks. I'm nervous but I think I'll do okay. It's relly daunting going into a job where part of the job is diagnosing children with mental health disorders. I haven't had to do that yet because my internships were in schools and school social workers don't diagnose kids, the school psychologists do that.
Anyway, that's the update if anyone is still here.
Today I got into the Boston College MSW program. I honestly didn’t think it would happen because the acceptance rate is 50% and what makes me more special than the other 50% who don’t get in? I already got denied from a school that has an acceptance rate of 70%.
I got average grades in undergrad. I didn’t do any extracurriculars. I didn’t spend weeks/months on my essay and I didn’t have anyone proofread it although I worked incredibly hard on it.
But I did it. I did it. Me. All on my own.
I am so incredibly excited for what this next chapter holds even though it still doesn’t feel real and it feels like it’s a lifetime away. My number one school is the University of Maryland - Baltimore and I’m waiting so anxiously for that decision letter. But either way, if I get accpted or denied from UMB, I know I am on the path to my dream career as a school social worker. 🖤
Now I just have to start to wrap my head around the fact that in either six months or a year (depending on the school) I’m moving 1000+ miles away from where I’ve lived the entire 24.5 years of my life.

Well, I graduate from Boston College with my MSW three months. Still feels insane. Also, the price of tuition here is absolutely insane and yes the program is pretty good but I'm positive I could've saved a shit ton of money going to a less prestigous school.
Friends are hard when you're an adult. I've been here 13 months and haven't made any friends I'll likely keep after we graduate.
Moving away from Minnesota was the greatest though. I love Boston and plan to stay here for a long time. It's a great place and I feel like this is home now.

All I know is that every time I’ve been faced with a tough decision, there’s only one thing that outweighs every other concern. One thing that will make you give up on everything you thought you knew, every instinct, every rational calculation. Love.
