#negative-neutral#noya basically can only get a negative impression of a girl if she's a complete bitch outright and even then it's shakey#but I firmly believe he's never seen a goth girl before and needs a moment to adjust

NOTICE: As more and more fanfic writers are using generative AI for their works (you uncreative dweebs), I hereby swear on everything I hold dear that I have not and will NEVER use generative AI in ANY of my written work. Everything I post will be organically and creatively my own.

“He would not fucking say that” except its the badly written source material so he did, in fact, say that

Really crazy how "writing" is not a universal skill and "fiction writing" vs "technical writing" vs "writing peer reviews for work" are somehow all different muscles

alright we close off this radio silence and unexpected hiatus with an update.
I... think koi no yokan is way closer to done than I thought it was? there are definitely at least... I'd say five or six more chapters, minimum, in this, but overall? I've been re-examining my outline to figure out what's been blocking me so hard on this latest chapter because it didn't feel entirely like burnout, and I think it's just that I'm trying to squeeze out more plot where there isn't much more to be had. of course it's not up to my standards; I'm trying to make plot happen that isn't there. re-working the outline and playing with things is telling me that I need to reduce the scope.
I'm gonna keep tweaking the outline until i reach something satisfying both for me as a writer and you as a reader while I keep chipping away at the hell chapter. koiny should return by the end of the month. I do apologize for the silence on this front--I sort of had a mental breakdown and stopped writing entirely for a little bit there. like, first missed days in 14 years, stopped writing. I'm going out of town for a week starting next wednesday, but I hope to return properly on that following saturday. thank you for your patience <3

皐月 (sa-tsu-ki) "May"
Like many countries, Japan uses a 12-month calendar. The names are very simple. January is 一月 (ichi-gatsu, literally "Month one"), February is 二月 (ni-gatsu, "Month two"), etc.
However, before the Meiji Restoration (mid-1800s) it was common to use an older 12-month system. These months’ names referenced the weather and the seasons (similar to the French Revolutionary calendar).
May is “Satsuki” in this old Japanese calendar.
皐 is a substitute for 早苗, which refers to young baby seedlings of rice, signifying the beginning of the rice-growing season.
月 is, of course, "moon" or "month".
Studio Ghibli fans will recognise "Satsuki" as the name of the older sister in "My Neighbour Totoro". The younger sister is, of course, called "Mei".
