Can't express how stress free being open minded is.
Some lesbians use he/him? Oh cool.
Some people have people inside their head and sometimes it's fictional chars? Sick your brains like a pirate ship they're all working to run.
Some people like being treated like a pet dog? Bark bark bro.
Being fat isn't unhealthy but a perfectly normal type of body to have? Kinda beautiful how different we can all be.
Something doesn't make any fucking sense? Cool an opportunity to learn. And even if I can't figure it out it's cool we still have mysteries today.

If you've ever been disappointed by dragonfruit, especially if you felt like it tasted like nothing, then I'm like 90% sure you had unripe dragonfruit, which tastes like nothing. There's a small window of time where it tastes amazing. You must have the patience of a hunter. Do not strike until your prey is at its most delicious

“Public libraries are such important, lovely places!” Yes but do you GO there. Do you STUDY there. Do you meet friends and get coffee there. Do you borrow the FREE, ZERO SUBSCRIPTION, ZERO TRACKING books, audiobooks, ebooks, and films. Have you checked out their events and schemes. Do you sign up for the low cost courses in ASL or knitting or programming or writing your CV that they probably run. Do you know they probably have myriad of schemes to help low income families. Do you hire their low cost rooms if you need them. Have you joined their social groups. Do you use the FREE COMPUTERS. Do you even know what your library is trying to offer you. Listen, the library shouldn’t just exist for you as a nice idea. That’s why more libraries shut every year

Dear video essay creators. A video analysis is when you analyze a piece of media. No no look at me. A summary, no matter how thorough, is not an analysis. An analysis requires you to draw conclusions about the media such as authorial intent, real-world parallels, discussion about themes/worldbuilding/character motivation, and so much more. You have to stop summarizing something and saying that’s analysis. The Gaylors are doing more critical analysis than you. Is that who you want to lose to? The gaylors?

i deleted tiktok for a year last year and i got the same reaction and honestly it was so fun (im back on it now but way waaaay less than what i was, like only once a week now for half an hour, if that)
the ability to say "i dont have a tiktok" in social situations makes me feel so powerful. like the general reaction is "shock, confusion, then this weird 'thats probably a good thing' response" its so fun
#kinda wanna delete it again#but also i like making my silly videos#the debate between deleting tiktok altogether and starting a youtube is strong

So like. Here's the thing: regardless of whether you like metric or how good you think it is, two things are important to remember:
ONE: The reason that metric is so common across the globe is in good part due to the powers of imperialism during the 19th century. e.g. Algeria started using it in 1843 because they were under French control. The Phillippines started using it due to the Spanish colonial government. Commonwealth countries held out for a long time in part because the UK was sticking with imperial for so long. Metric spread due to colonial powers.
TWO: China's base-ten measurement system predates metric, and the base length of that system held fairly steady for the Qing dynasty, probably just varying due to the size of the region in relation to contemporary technology. So while you could argue that metric took hold because it standardized the length of a meter before China standardized the length of a bù, it's still got the older system.
A lot of places had fairly standardized systems that relied on base-2, also, which is arguably more convenient than base-10.
Besides, why did we pick up on Mesopotamian time (second, hour, day) but not their length or volume? Why did we pick up Arabic numerals but not their mass or temperature?
Because European imperialism decided to use metric as a force for controlling their colonies.
Metric is a good system if you frequently have to translate amounts to a different scale, but goddamn, I can't just ignore the fact that imperialism was a driving factor for getting that system into places controlled by France and Spain in particular.
