Sleep.....What's that ?? 馃ぃ馃ぃ After getting a call 12am for a bogged Jeep Rubicon at Gunn Point the crew rolled out of bed and headed off. Once arriving on site we found the customers sitting in their camping chairs on hard ground pleased to see us, after assessing the best plan of action to take we took our recovery unit through what looked like a giant slosh pit of mud. We got to work winching and before long we had it out of the mud and on hard ground where we deflated one tyre to match the pressure of the others as the customer tried to deflate the tyres and get him self out unfortunately he had no such luck . We then guided him back through the slosh pit luckily it was all hard on the bottom just looked very boggy and once we all made it to the other side it was time to head back into town for a nice hot shower and some zzz's before getting the next call out. https://www.instagram.com/p/CNJ41d-hcHm/?igshid=2brogq93k9q2

Sorry I forgot to post this, it was 6 days ago. African mahoganies can provide great shade and grow quickly but they鈥檙e such a heavy tree up top and with the soft wet season soil and a stiff breeze they can be a nightmare when they fall. Our customer spent their weekend trimming their mahoganies with an EWP however on extending the boom it sunk in the soft soil. Even the mighty Unimog failed to extract it!! NT Towing & 4x4 Recovery came to the rescue this morning and had it out in minutes. We must admit, we quite liked the idea of working on manicured lawns, no need to lock the hubs in either! If only every job had us working in the shade on lush green grass!! https://www.instagram.com/p/CLQ1DVthD79/?igshid=188qtj3e884un

Our Recovery Crews are just rolling back into town after recovering a bogged Hilux at Channel Point. It鈥檚 been an eventful couple of days for the poor customers Pauly and Junior who took their 4.2m boat out there for what they thought would be a rippa jewfish session. The plan took a rapid change when they launched their boat in high spirits only to quickly realise they鈥檇 left the bungs in Darwin!! Stress levels were high as they managed to get the boat back on the trailer without it sinking with the use of another car and a snatch strap after breaking the big trailer winch!! Finally back on dry ground they made the decision to leave the boat there due to the poor road conditions and head back to Darwin. Unfortunately they didn鈥檛 get far down the road before becoming hopelessly bogged in some huge holes in the track!! With no recovery gear handy they tried their best with some maxtrax but the poor Hilux was well and truly hung up!! Our crew picked up the owners from Darwin and made the trek out there. After a winch back to hard ground they spun around and headed back to town. The road has seen better days, and there are a couple of sections with bottomless holes!! If you can avoid the area until the road is repaired or it鈥檚 given time to dry out I鈥檓 sure the station owners and residents would appreciate it before it becomes completely impassable. Hopefully a couple of hours rest before the next recovery call comes rolling in. At NT Towing & Recovery, we won鈥檛 leave you stranded!! https://www.instagram.com/p/CLQ0SPsBzbw/?igshid=1f7f1ibnoqn3z

Another one bites the dust....../Mud. We received a call from a customer who was out for a drive with his kids past Gunn point. On his return, in an attempt to bypass some holes in the main track, he sunk his Prado to its belly. Our crews were quick to mobilise and had him underway after a short winch. Both he and his kids were very happy to be out and on their way to a nice hot shower! As our crews were pulling in the driveway at home another call came in for a bogged car west of Litchfield. We鈥檙e loading up as we speak to motor out the door to the next one.... you can sleep when you鈥檙e dead right?? 馃ぃ Stay tuned and follow us for more adventures!! https://www.instagram.com/p/CLPCi3KBhql/?igshid=1uxia768eopsv

So it's been a long and eventful couple of days with recovery of a Toyota Landcruiser out at Lloyd Creek then straight from that job out to a recovery of a truck and wood chipper bogged聽 out at Livingstone聽 Started the day off by having to get our own tilt tray out of a bog with the GQ on its back out at Lloyd Creek The Landcruiser was a piece of cake using the same tried and tested methods that has always guaranteed success but with the truck and wood chipper we had to think outside the box, we disconnected the chipper and walked it along the side of the truck,聽 a job in itself, as the left hand wheel got bogged up to the axle with the chipper being so heavy it didn't matter how many holes that we dug or tracks that we laid, we ended up skating the axle on a single track until it reached hard ground 30 m away, then it was on to the truck, digging and tracking, with our tilt tray and 2 four-wheel drives winching聽 all while making sure that the truck wouldn't tip over we finally recovered the truck, We started packing up having to winch out all our tracks from the dirt, once we were almost finished we were informed that the same truck and a different chipper had gone down further around the track聽 Day 2聽 Second day back on site having to pull out a fully loaded truck with wood chips on board towing a single axle wood chipper weighing about 6.5 tonne fitted with maxi air brakes, so we couldn't disconnect it from the truck, using max trax and mats we managed to move the truck and wood chipper about 3 to 4 metres at a time, unfortunately the single axle wood chipper had other ideas and kept sinking into the mud, so once again dig it out and max track it for the next 3 hours till we hit hard ground, thinking that was the end of our day we were informed that there was a Landcruiser bogged out at Darwin River, this job seemed a piece of cake to what we had just gone through, with the help of Jay we had it out in no time at all https://www.instagram.com/p/CLJrZeqBS19/?igshid=5xwucuf9luyw

Friday 29/01/2021 Rolled out of bed a little bit late this morning who knew that it was going to be such an exciting day.... First job of the day was a call to recover a removalist truck bogged in the driveway at the front of a lady's house he was trying to turn around it was heavily raining at the time so visibility was poor he slightly over shot the gravel driveway and the gravel turn to slop one winch rope snapped and one winch block bent (due to bit of a underestimation in the over-extension of a winch extension say that 10 times quick) and he was out without doing too much damage to the ladies lawn and then it was off to job no#2 to help out a couple of fellas bogged out the front of Hungry Jacks Coolalinga a quick winch couple of tracks and we were home free (or so we thought) we got call for job no#3 buy another tilt tray company to help a little delivery truck that got bogged at the back of Humpty Doo quick winch couple of tracks and he was back on hard ground and off to his next delivery. Tip of the day: Everywhere is boggy at the moment don't expect your rock hard driveway to be rock hard anymore expect the unexpected and when in doubt walk it out. #wewontleaveyoustranded #247Recoveries #nttowing4x4 #nttowingandrecovery https://www.instagram.com/p/CKvYETvhfrP/?igshid=128rxnyt8mbyj

Well what a night that was!! Got a call early in the night for 3 cars bogged in Virginia however they opted out and instead seconded the help of offers on Facebook. Unfortunately this didn鈥檛 go to plan for them and again called just after midnight where we mobilised two crews to attend. Given the additional vehicles tracking back and forwards making more and more deep ruts they鈥檇 made the recovery much more difficult that it had originally been, which we regretfully see time and time again. It just makes our job so much harder and also delays the time in which you curl up in bed after getting home. On getting there we recovered the two Good Samaritans where they departed to obtain some rest before work today. Once the glimmer of daylight broke through the darkness we鈥檇 started on the original vehicle which was stuck, albeit from the other end in which the access was far easier to attempt a recovery. By 8am we were all loaded up and heading home for some well early rest. Tip of the day from us to you..... Don鈥檛 go in all guns blazing to help others. Take the time to walk all possible access routes to understand where your best chance of success lies. Too many times we鈥檝e seen cars continually use the same track which results in bringing the water to the surface and bringing your car to an abrupt halt! Review all possibilities before committing!! https://www.instagram.com/p/CJqSkfdBJhG/?igshid=8k8keq0uku2l

Had a call from a distressed husband who had recently relocated his family to Darwin from Victoria and had his wife鈥檚 car bogged on their new property. They had called their neighbour to help but he also became hopelessly bogged attempting to rescue them. Within two weeks of being in the Territory they had lost their keys to their new house, been knocked out from a stray children鈥檚 leg at the waterpark and now had their car bogged in their own property!! They鈥檇 managed to also get a buggy and an AWD Mazda station wagon bogged in an attempt to help, however luckily overnight they were able to free them. We trundled out to Darwin River this morning and with one crew busy recovering another bogged car around the corner, we made a start on getting both vehicles back on solid ground. An extra 40m of winch cable popped the first car out and we removed that from the water logged area successfully. Onto the next one using the same approach however the bottomless slop failed to release its grip. 8 maxtrax and 30 minutes later we also had it sitting high and dry with relieved owners! Our tip of the day..... despite their price, Maxtrax are invaluable tools in any recovery, versatile and highly effective when used in the right way. Get yourself a set and you never know, they might save you explaining to your wife how her car got bogged!! https://www.instagram.com/p/CJVyBtOhAs6/?igshid=1ovxlydk79u8o
