I've started watching Gap. Something that's kind of haunting to me is the difference in how Sam and Kirk are perceived by their employees. Idk. It's complicated because considering the difference in their behavior, yes, obviously everyone would consider Kirk much better than Sam. At the same time my impression thus far is that half the reason Sam is acting Like That is because she's looking down the barrel of a forced marriage which SHE doesn't want, but Kirk is completely chill with. Like. Of course Kirk is the chill boss! He's fine with the company failing and Sam having to marry him! It doesn't mean anything to him! And his offer to be the house husband is nice and all, but it doesn't really change the dynamics of the forced relationship.

Bluh. I don't have any formal introductions to this stupid sideblog so I'm just gonna rant as though I was in the inbox of someone who I instinctually knew would understand me. I am on episode 11 of The Loyal Pin, and I've really been enjoying it for a lot of reasons. One aspect that's interesting to me is how enjoyable Prik is. Under normal circumstances I've always really hated the best friend third wheel matchmaker sort of trope. I've always tended to identify with the perpetually single/unrequited loser, and whenever yuri, femslash, et al includes a bestie matchmaker I can't help but feel how sad it is that a given character only exists as a cheerleader or reluctant approver for the main couple (eg every blue haired character in strawberry panic) irrespective of their own desires. I think if Prik were tied to Anin and Pin as just a friend I would feel the same mopey feeling. I think maybe its the combination of her job and the sense with her personality that she has more going on in her own life, that makes me let go of the sort of "am I a side character in better people's story" paranoia that I usually trend towards when there's a third wheel/supportive best friend character/ I think it also helps that Prik is really cute in her own right. Anin and Pin are also gorgeous, ofc, but Prik has humor, confidence, and personality that gives her the sense of being her own independent entity.
