I feel like I can finally breathe and not expect something to go wrong with her. She's had a rough start.

Blood, sweat, and tears have gone into this girl and we haven't even started routine ground work.

She came to me underweight, loaded with worms, and anemic. She is still on a deworming regimen, she injured her knee three weeks into having her and will most likely have a knobby knee the rest of her life. I could get it drained but then that leaves her open to infection. It currently doesn't limit her and she is not lame.

I'd like to see her fill out a little more but she has made great progress in 8 weeks.

Patience has never been my strong suit.

But I can't snap my fingers and make her gain 100 lbs overnight or rush anything that I had originally planned to work on as soon as she was brought home. She needs time to get to the best she can be and I have to step back and let that happen.

I was going through pics on my phone and found this gem from a bout of boredom, back in like, May of last year.

It's been a rough week, but we're ok.

So no surgery. Just lots of rest, meds and then supplements for likely the rest of her life. I am so emotionally worn out right now.

Having a vet tell you one day 'it might be broken' is not how to leave me hanging for 12+ hours.
