Hi I'm new here. I saw you answer a question about the movie Joseph King of dreams so I decided to ask one too. In the movie when Joseph's Egyptian wife asenath learns about his brothers selling him into slavery after confronting him for accusing the brothers when they come to buy food and arresting Simeon she tells him it was over now and he had everything he could want including her but when he denies he doesn't have everything she gets exasperated and wonders how long there'll be anger as if the conflict concerns her. I felt she was being pretentious and expecting Joseph to be over years of trauma as if it was the easiest thing in the world. Part of me also thinks one of the reasons she didn't want Joseph to take revenge against his brothers was because she felt she owed them her happiness as it was their sailing of Joseph that led to them meeting if that's true I wonder if she'd feel the same about the slave traders who bought Joseph without caring they were taking someone away from their family. Even when he does forgive them at the end her smile seems to be a mixture of exasperation and pride like "they have changed I told you so". I may be vilifying asenath because she seems nice but it just seems to me she came off as insensitive to Joseph's turmoil similar to Rachel whose song she reprised. It just seems like this movie gave Joseph her raw deal for the crime of being arrogant.
Yeah, one could see it that way.

If I had a nickel for every time a mother with no character in Helluva Boss died just for the audience to feel bad in a flashback, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't much, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Ok, I’ll stand by what I said regarding the new episode- I think it’s one of the better Helluva outings
But I noticed this while watching it and it’s driving me insane-

Barbie was supposed to be in this scene. They removed Blitzo’s sister from THEIR SHARED BACKSTORY. Viv is refusing to give this character any attention for some reason even though this screwed her over as much as it did Blitzo and Fizz.

My opinions on the Hazbin/Helluva characters... at least, for now.

I think what makes Stolas extra annoying as a character isn’t him essentially hijacking the show and becoming a de facto main character, though that is very annoying, it’s the fact that he was also made into the walking talking moral center of Helluva Boss.
What do I mean by that? Well, ever since season two started, a character’s morality has essentially been judged by how nice or mean they are to Stolas, and/or how Stolas reacts to their actions. If a character lifts Stolas up and makes him feel better about himself, all potential flaws and wrongdoings are forgotten and forgiven, because, hey, if they’re nice to him, they can’t be all that bad. If a character is rude to Stolas and upsets him, doesn’t matter if the character has every right to be harsh, they hurt his feelings, so they’re cruel and callous monsters, and only by repenting for the horrible act of not liking him and submitting to his every whim will they achieve true redemption.
That is indeed the problem at the heart and soul of HB! Even assassination is made out to be perfectly fine, except for the minute Stolas is a target of it.

I think one of the main reasons why people feel upset at Stella's writing and how she's portrayed is because she is treated in literally the opposite way to Valentino. Like, if you ask some fans for why Stella shouldn't have positive traits, good relationships (that aren't her fucking incestuous brother) or just in general humanizing moments, it's because she is an abuser and doesn't need to be a layered character. A lot of times people who come to Stella's defence, or just imply, that she should be written more complex (not just being an evil bitch just for the sake of it) are labelled abuser defenders.
However, when people imply that Valentino shouldn't have the amount of positive recognition he does (fanart, canon ships, merch, cosplays etc.) and how he is a lot of times downplayed even though he is a pimp and serial rapist(!), people say that abusers and rapists also need to be portrayed as complex people, or it wouldn't be realistic otherwise. Because abusers can be charming and funny and have good relationships with others and still be abusers (a statement I agree with in theory).
The issue is just that you can't have it both ways. Most shows who talk about abuse in some way choose one way or the other to portray their abusive characters. Either making them layered people with goals, ambitions, positive traits etc. or making them more one note bad guys. While the first approach is more realistic, there are pros and cons for either portrayal. The main fear of humanizing an abuser is, that their abuse might be overlooked or downplayed by the fans, which you especially wouldn't want of course with a rapist. It's a discussion that can't be applied to every show or movie and not one approach is definitely better than the other (imo).
But Viv seemingly can't or doesn't want to make a choice. And so we end up having Valentino, who gets regularly babied by the fandom, his sexual assaults being ignored because "he's just a fictional character, why does it matter if he's my favourite" and Stella, who ends up a comically over the top villain, who has always been an irrational abuser since the day she was born and always will be.
And I don't want to make huge assumptions, but I'll just say that I do think Stella would overall be perceived differently by the fans if she was a man. I'm saying this because while I mentioned Valentino being more complex as a character, if I remember correctly that's mostly the fandom's perception. In the show he is more flatout bad, but the fandom really likes him and Viv never positions herself in either direction, making some demeaning comments about Stella fans while posing with Valentino cosplayers and defending people who ship Valangel.
And don't even get me started on that stupid owl

I want to hear from you guys
What is your least favorite part of Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss? How would you improve it if you were on Vivzie’s writing staff?

I feel like I could fix the apology tour conversation with a few tweaks (the anti blitz party has to go though) because it’s so blatantly black and white (pro stolas, anti blitz) it makes Viv look biased and that she secretly despises her main character and blames him for his own abuse at the hands of her favourite character.
For example:
Blitz: I always come running when you need help! And don’t bring up that striker thing, you know I had to take Loona and MnM helped you!
Stolas: Fine, but you couldn’t even be bothered to come visit me in the hospital! And I’ve helped you before as well.
Blitz: I’ve always hated hospitals alright?! At least I wanted you to get better. If it weren’t for you not having proper bodyguards—
Stolas: If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have been targeted anyway!! My lunatic ex wife Stella has been after me ever since what you did! And my daughter can barely look at me. Don’t you care about that?!
Blitz: It’s not my job to solve all your problems, and you’re just as guilty as I am. Quit blaming me for what that bitch does, and stand up to her already.
Stolas: you’ll never understand how difficult that is. You’re just a thief.
Blitz: I did a bad thing, stealing from you. But I did it for my family , I put up with your shit every month so they can have a normal life. And you used it all as an opportunity to get sex from me constantly. You still ruined your own family and I’m done feeling guilty.
Stolas: “Guilty”? You’ve been lying and giving me mixed messages this whole time, I thought you came to visit me because you missed me. I thought you really liked me, really cared. I knew it was a lie when I saw the book missing, I just didn’t want to believe it. So yes I used you, because I wanted that feeling to maybe, if possible, become real. But I..I don’t think I ever loved you. I didn’t even know you. And now that I do know you, I don’t think you’re right for me at all.
Blitz: Then I guess we both used each other.
Stolas: I….suppose we did….
And something like this is actually conflicting, heart breaking, does show that both of them have done wrong. This is far more equal than vivzie giving stolas every W imaginable, having him cry and sing over and over and over and over for sympathy, and using irrelevant third parties to make blitz look evil so that stolas can win the argument.
See, Viv? That's how you have the show paint them as both being in the wrong. It's just that easy.

Hazbin Hotel Hate is NOT THE SAME AS Steven Universe Hate
Okay we need to get this straight, Stans always use the same "Steven UNIVERSE HATE IS JUST LIKE HELLUVAHAZBIN Hate!"
This is completely and utterly false, because the main reason why Steven Universe was hated so much was because 4Chan raided Tumblr and one person made edits whitewashing/straightwashing some of the gems (and one of the crewuniverse told them they were giving into trolls.) the hate only spread mainly because it was not only LGBTQ+ but trolls and people found the show incredibly annoying and it only went worse when Lily Orchard made her video.
Now, when you hear Rebecca Sugar, do you hear ANGRY WOMANCHILD NOISES AND EAGERLY DEFENDING!??!?!?!!? No? That's because Sugar doesn't give a rats ass about what people think about her work. She ignores and only intervenes when her fans hurt someone. Which she did. Sugar is detached from most in the Cartoon Network scene. But she's willing to help others whenever she needs, she's a respectable woman (despite drawing weird fucking shit.) but was the main woman behind actually getting LGBTQ+ Rep in Cartoon Network.
Then there's Medrano, who throws a cow (literally and metaphorically) over any criticism. She's going to be remembered as that Lolcow who threw a fit because she didn't win the Annie/Grammy Awards and defended her co-workers disgusting behaviors.
She would have saved face long ago if she admitted she was a degenerate rape fetishist but no she has to constantly pull out of her ass ON WHY this, that and the third is representation.
You lose any creativity points when you have to explain your jokes and or design aspects. I am tired of people equating SU Hate to fucking HB Hate. It's not the same.

Casual reminder that Wally Wackford, a one-note bit character who appears for less than one minute if you tallied up all of his screentime, has more dialogue than Tilla, BLITZ’S MOTHER. Fun fact, Tilla has no dialogue at all!

Has anyone else noticed that Stolas refuses to respect Octavia's boundaries in Sinmas?
After the initial hug she pushes him away, and yet he keeps trying to touch her throughout her whole callout.
Everytime he tries to grab at her she backs away from him.
Then when he finally gets her hand she has to violently jerk it out of his grasp.
It gets to the point that she even has to put ice walls up so he can stop following and trying to touch her after she put her foot down that their done.
Her body language throughout this whole thing is Don't Touch Me, and yet he keeps trying too until she has to get borderline violent at the end.
It seems like Blitz is not the only one that has their negative verbal and physical language toward Stolas ignored.
