So you want to have your optional romance route. You pick a girl you like, you talk to her mostly without any romantic implications, and you date for like, two meetings. You have your off-screen kiss, she gets you a chocolate on valentine's day and...

That's it.

You have no impactful story variations, you have no meaningful conversations that would imply that Joker is anything else but a self insert. You don't have cutscenes that suggest she was the one the player chose, she is not any more special than anyone else in every scene and Joker by himself never favors one above the other.

Is that really worth anything to anybody? Is it really canon, if I can say that canonically Joker dates everyone? It's not, the harem ending is not any more canon than Joker ending up alone.

Is it really so hard to comprehend that what's between Joker and Akechi is beyond what your 'canon' will ever give you? What they have is beyond what the player wants, this is Joker finally deciding for himself, and whether there is a romance route involved in all of this or not, it is literally meaningless. When it comes to the decision of destroying the dream world, Joker doesn’t even think twice about it without Akechi by his side, there is no thought put into what his 'girlfriends' might want. He will only accept that happiness if it means having Akechi close.
