Curse of the Night

Synopsis: In which you left Diluc, just like his father did to him

"I love you too, Y/N." Diluc confessed with a soft smile, cradling your body gently with his hands. "I love you so much, my dear." he repeated, his voice cracking. "You waited so long for me to say it back... So, I'm saying it now. I love you." He leaned closer to your face, nuzzling as he tries to share you his warmth. “Let me show you how much I love you... P-please?”

"Y/N..." He muttered, voice cracking at the end. “Say you love me once more." He begged you, feeling hot tears roll down his face, damping your skin. "Say it... I’m begging you. Please!" He raised his voice in desperation and fear as if he was begging a god himself. "Let me hear you, pl-please!"

No response, only his desperate pleas can be heard in the open area.

In the dark night, where only the moonlight shone on your faces and the stars twinkling around the both of you, Diluc could see your pale features illuminated by the dim light. Your heart was barely even beating, slowly revealing the stillness of death. Diluc's eyes start to water even more as he felt his heart breaking into pieces, crumbling into ashes.

You didn’t answer him and only kept on staring ahead, looking at your first love and perhaps last, with a blank dead look in his eyes. "D-don't... don’t stare at me like that, please. Not like that Y/N..." The man pleaded as tears fall down to his chin. His voice was hoarse but he continued to keep on pleading, begging to be heard by you, begging you to respond to him. "You c-can't be like this, love..." His hands tremble violently against your cold, cold body.

"Why does this keeps happening to me? Archons, why? Why!? WHY!?" He screamed in desperation. His cries turned to sobs as he fell apart.

First, it was his father... and now, it's you.

Diluc was being robbed once more of something precious, a piece of himself that he could never get back. Diluc was robbed of a future together with you who loved him, you who broke down every wall he had built up throughout his life... you who saw past his brooding and his cold exterior.

While you... you were robbed of living, of happiness you deserve but could not have anymore. Was it his fault? Was he too weak, to slow to protect you? "You promised you’d stay, sunshine..." He whispered brokenly as he buried his head into your chest, clutching onto your shirt like a child. "You said you wouldn't leave me alone." He cried harder. 

"Y/N, please... Y/N.... Darling...  D-don't do this to me. Don’t leave m-me, please." He wept uncontrollably against you. He let out a choked sob and held your body tighter.

He looked up at the night sky and closed his eyes, letting out an anguished scream of your name.
