Im gonna be so real can yall actually talk about ways we can support trans women in the UK instead of giving all the attention to fucking JKR. I already know that Harry Poter sucks, I wanna know how to actually HELP people. Something something you have to love the oppressed more than you hate the oppressor

Hello! 💕 Which places do you find are the best for gathering general feedback/ bug reports etc? Do you ever go through the choice forum or the hosted games subreddit for example? Are they useful/ interesting at all for you as an author?
just here in my inbox is easiest for me! that way i can come back to it when i'm doing edits/bugfixing and it's easier to find than trying to dig through my dms or itch comments.
i don't look at the forums or the subreddits, no:-)

i know it's been said a lot, and more eloquently than I could, but stripe (through itch) enforcing the censorship of content designed for sexual gratification is such intentionally meaningless language - because you can't enforce what people get off on, and you can't legislate artistic intention. if there's a sex scene in a book with narrative focus, is that for sexual gratification? does the existence of trans women in a piece of media mean it's for sexual gratification, as per the republican argument? will we outlaw the whole romantasy genre next? and I know it's because they don't want queer people making art for ourselves and they don't want people thinking about sexuality and they aren't interested in anything unsanitised but. jesus christ it's grim.
#sorry. those new content guidelines pissed me off no end#who the fuck are you to say what's for sexual gratification and what isn't!#mind your business.#people aren't going to stop jacking off and kids aren't going to stop being exposed to things they shouldn't. they're just going to have#less support and less places to turn to process it.#it's about controlling what people make and driving undesirables off the internet entirely.

One change in the upcoming chapter is that we get a better glimpse at the world's religion and how the people practice it, which includes seeing "wolfsisters" / Wolftriune priestesses and priests in every route.
I wanted to try my hand at drawing how I imagine their robes; unfortunately, I am limited by my lack of skill in drawing clothes, so this is the most basic, simplified version a priest/priestess would wear (perhaps after just gaining her sisterhood). Priests will earn more stripes on their robes as they age and become more accomplished, and some will take to embroidering tokens along the sleeves and skirts as well. Followers of the Wolftriune always wear gold and blue - colors to represent the Wolfmother's children.
We will also see some novitiates in Lea's route, who wear plain grey robes with no stripes or any kind of adornment (except for their declaration cord) and with their hair pulled back in a long, simple braid.
Worldbuilding talk under the cut ☀️
Declaration ropes/braids/cords are also something new we'll see both in chapter 1 edits and in chapter 2. Essentially a very long, complex braided rope that is made as part of Adrania's coming of age ceremony, where the person declares their gender, name, and patron god.
This sister wears nothing but the plain leather cord for the Wolfmother, though it is common to see cords layered, especially for the Wolftriune. A wolf tail is attached at the end, as well as a bit of wheat on the right most variation for the Sun, who is the god of harvest and war. The pearl beads are for the Moon, and the coins are also for the Sun. Fully initiated brothers, sisters, and bloodkin shave their hairline back to tattoo the exposed skin underneath. This sister's specific tattoos are related to the Moon. In Adrania, there are common, widely recognized symbols for each god, but tattoos and tokens can vary from person to person, as will their declaration cords - certain colors, materials, and items (like gold and blue, or wheat, or peal, or coins) will relate to specific gods, but people will personalize their cords however they see fit. There will be examples of what other ropes and what else people wear for the other gods throughout the story (like Clementine and their bells for the Traveler) as well as the differences between Gaelish and Adranian practices.
We will also see sisters wearing white veils in the city, mourning years of death and plague. If you go with Noel, you will see priests wearing metal jaw pieces over cloth masks, a style popularized during the plague and still worn in certain parts of the city, just as the soldiers still wear their silver masks, too.
There is no organized religion in Adrania - there are thousands of sects and cults scattered throughout the kingdom that all worship differently. The sect in Blackwater is devoted to the Wolftriune, and they are an old and well-established group, having been in the area since before the city was founded, with their practices being widely adopted and quite popular in the region. Large groups like this are common in most of the major cities in Adrania, with faith leaders typically working closely with the Wardens and Houses of that city.
There are different temples and sects for the Deathcaller, for the specific wolves of the Wolftriune, for the Traveller, and the Stormbringer. another one that will be relevant to the story are the Knights of the Ardent Sun, who have arrived in Blackwater following the plague and escalation of violence, bonding with the Wolftriune priests and keeping them safe in the streets.
The priests and priestesses in Blackwater have a strained relationship with the new Warden and his soldiers, and spend most of their time caring for refugees and survivors of the Red Death.

My Project Hadea operative, Callisto. I originally picked the callsign from the list as a placeholder until i could come up with my own, but the bear imagery from the myth just fit really well, plus the unfortunately prophetic themes of violation and forced transformation (that's rough, buddy), so it stuck.

Mastercard and visa have reported to a couple news outlets that they are currently being swamped with calls and complaints. Keep up the pressure and try to (politely) insist that you leave a complaint via phone instead of letting the rep direct you to emails. It's way easier to be overwhelmed by a much smaller number of calls so each one counts for a bit more!

so itchio has shadowbanned any games tagged with 'nsfw', 'adult', or 'erotic' so they don't show up in searches, and several devs have reported that their r18 games have been removed from the site with no warning
you know, maybe the internet shouldn’t be controlled by payment processors and terf lobbyists. and maybe people should be more concerned about this rise of censorship on queer media.

This is Not The End
So, here we are; I have an assignment due in *checks clock* less than six hours, but recent events compel me to come on here and say a little something. I'm sure many of you are finding out today about the deindexing of adult content on itch.io (link to my friend @kithj's post about it here) and people are understandably upset. It is an objectively upsetting thing to happen, especially in a community like ours.
But I'm here to tell you that it's not the end. I fall rather outside the "normal" operations of IF authors on tumblr - my demo was never public (can only be accessed from my intro post) and in fact has a password on it, and then I went through a bunch of terrible stuff and haven't updated in ages lmfao. I'm hardly a "success" story even though I keep doing my best. But guess what? I have a lot of followers on here, certainly way more than I probably deserve. People find content that they want to see, even if there are extra steps involved in uncovering it.
So if you're an IF author out there panicking about nobody being able to find your games anymore, I promise you that they still can, especially if you value this little community we're a part of and do your best to be transparent to readers about what you make and how it's affected by these outside censorship concerns. You can do it, I promise. Your work can still find a wonderful and appreciative audience.
And if you're a reader, I hope that you don't lose hope either. Your favourite authors are most likely still going to create the same kind of content as they always have - moves like this literally Never actually make people stop writing what they want to write, because profit is not actually a big disincentiviser for indie games because there often isn't much profit at all - as long as they don't get discouraged. I hope you can continue to find the kinds of games you want to see, even if it's a little more annoying due to outside interference.
It's not the end as long as we're still breathing, folks. Keep on trucking.

well. this blows
“deindexing” means the games have been removed from the search function (basically shadowbanned in other words) and cannot be found even when searching with the direct titles. games are still up and reachable form creator pages and direct links but we’ll see what happens next
