Oh god I hate this fandom. Of course he knew the gate would separate Piltover and Zaun even more. But he had conditions. They had to make the gate before they could do personal projects that they could use to help Zaun. That's what he talked about in season one. And that's what he told Jayce "we did what they wanted, now it's our turn." Did you watch the show or just watch a couple of TikToks? That's how investments work, you can't get money to develop something and not give anything in return. And Zaun actually used the gate too. Just secretly. And that's why Viktor was so disappointed when Jayce didn't announce their projects. Because it was personal. In reality, Viktor saw the possibilities, he didn't distance himself from Zaun, but his ability to help was limited. He had access to technology that Zaun didn't have, and he wanted to give it to them. But who would let him? It's not Viktor's fault.

Viktor always knew what was going on. But he is a scientist, not a politician. He wanted to help them as best he could, to give them high-level technology. But he was restricted even in this, and who would have thought that it was Jayce who did it. Because Jayce didn't care, he had plenty of time and the support of wealthy families.

Here's someone who really didn't understand what was going on, and that's why Mel had to teach him. Like, what are you suggesting he do? Go against council? He would just lose access to technology. And then he would lose even the opportunity to help, in his understanding.

He even went against Jayce. He clearly showed that he was against all of this. Guess what? Jayce doesn't care, how ironic. No one listens to Viktor, he's expressed his opinion many times. But that opinion has no weight in Piltover.

being a viktor fan in a fandom that frequently woobifies him is such a struggle sometimes. how do i explain that i do kind of think viktor was a class traitor and that his later realization of how much he had contributed to the worsening conditions in zaun over the years is what led to him establishing the commune? i actually dont think viktor is very politically well informed at all and that his years of burying his head in the sand about piltover zaun negotiations have worsened this. to me it seems like viktor put a lot of effort into fitting in at piltover and appealing to them in order to develop hextech and in doing so willingly turned a blind eye to how the hexgates were worsening the class divide. i feel like i see so many people talking about how jayce was ignorant to the struggles of people in zaun but viktor was literally from there and did the same

Sky played with the children of Zaun as a child, no Piltovian would allow that because the air of Zaun is polluted. According to Amanda, it was Viktor who recruited Sky, I assume he could have also recommended her to the Academy. Viktor's official lore says that he and Sky played there as children.

This is enough to understand that she is not a Piltie. Unless, of course, you're a dumbass who refuses to read all the available material because Sky is a character with less airtime and dialogue than Isha. You'll barely learn anything about her from the show, other than the fact that Viktor treasured that connection.

Why the do people think Sky Young is from Zaun?

Are folks saying the arcane writers decided to change the ‘Nobody from Zaun has a surname’ rule for a side character?

Viktor literally had to steal the uniform and lie just to get into the academy. Are folks saying Sky did the same thing?

Is it because of the flashback scene? Where we literally see her swimming in clean water whereas Viktor is surrounded by polluted water? Where she is literally looking down at him?

Legit question because nowhere in the show does it indicate she’s anything other than a Piltie

I can’t take criticism on Mel seriously because most of it is done by jayviks who say she’s pretty and call it a day then act like they love her😭. Like sorry, I’m not taking you seriously when your account is filled with only jayvik and you only talk about Mel to objectify her and seem like you don’t hate “the female character that gets in the way” that’s simply not enough. A lot of these hardcore “Mel is a manipulator” people are very obviously biased lmfao. “Jayce dumped her” except that never happened? They talked and then he left and fucking died lol, one important thing to remember is that these are CHARACTERS and there is writing behind them. What I’m saying is that they were handled poorly by the writers and they never actually “broke up” or should I say he never “dumped her🤓” they just.. had a thoughtful conversation and it was never brought up again. I feel like yall only say he “dumped her” so it fits the shitty narrative that Jayce dumped Mel for Viktor which is NOT true and literally never will be. You guys literally call her an “independent black woman who doesn’t need a man” except in different wording to make her seem unlovable. Yes, she doesn’t need a man but she WANTS a man. Stop acting like you actually want her to be independent, you just want to get her out of the way but also still seem like you’re an “”ally””.

Jayce is HIS MOTHER'S son and he really listens to women more often and more, although there was a moment when he listened to Heimendinger as well. But what does Viktor and the scene in the ditch have to do with it? He remembers Viktor because he is friends with him. And the closest people in his life are supposedly Mel and Viktor, although we know from the art book that it was the porter MEL that he drew while in that ditch. I am also surprised that his memories do not include his mother. The thing I hate about Arcane writers is that now when you mention Jayce or Viktor, you can't mention them separately. They'll immediately be linked. They need to be separated, fucking immediately.

The thing is, Viktor's villain arc was badly written and the whole Hexcore corruption thing didn't land as well as the writers probably intended (no agency on his part, shit just happens to him). But it does amuse me when I see people compare it to Cait's arc and say he doesn't face consequences like. Dude died four times. And will always be remembered as the monster who tried to destroy the world which is a corrupted version of his dream to be remembered. His name is erased from any record for Hextech. Sounds like consequences, he just doesn't directly face it

Arcane VAs and writers acting like J@yVikkk is such a transcendent and earth-shattering ship that Mel and Jayce pale in comparison to when everything about that dynamic in Season 2 highlights how tragic Jayce's life is.

His fate was set in stone by otherworldly forces since he was a child in multiple different timelines with no respite. All of them lead to him dying, being stuck in robot form, or blowing up.

Say what you want about MelJay, but acting like they're not as great when they actually added positive things to each other's lives and helped one another grow without dimming the other as a character is not something I'm here for.

While Jayce and Mel aren't preordained by otherworldly forces or "fate", loving Mel and building a deep connection with her was one of the few connections Jayce actively made a choice to have. It wasn't the machinations of a mage or fate, just the two of them. They might not be together in every single dimension, but in this one, they are because they choose to love each other, and that's beautiful to me.
