while it’s on my mind- my very disorganized take on “does sebastian actually care about ciel” is that sebastian does NOT care for him in any human sense, but he genuinely respects him and is entertained by him- even has actual fun scheming with him- and that combination is probably the highest possible regard a demon devoid of empathy can have for a human being. that is to say he treasures him in the only way his biology will allow, which is very far from love, but it isn’t nothing either. he feels no true compassion for ciel but i think when he’s gone sebastian will feel truly empty for a long time. how often do you think about the best dining experience you’ve ever had? don’t you wish you could have it back?

Ex: Sebastian is required by the contract to never lie. However he can act in a way to make you think he cares even though he doesn’t. So he can seduce Beast and make her think he cares, but if she asked straight out if he loved her he could never say yes.

You can trust Ciel's actions, but not his words.

Ex: When Ciel does something, he usually does it with his heart or emotions, but if you ask him to explain it, he will lie about why he did it. Like the burning of Baron Kelvin's manor and all the kids inside, his actions are honest but when asked about it he lied and said they were better off dead.

An exceptional miss considering they could have brought Odyssey's Poseidon. Also Percy, who is already getting more and more hateful towards gods being rejected by his father (just like his girlfriend), or even more, his father potentially threatening his friends...

Or alternatively, Neptune being overly protective in a way that ultimately hurts the crew, makes them distrustful, only to see that behavior (aka his fatal flaw) reflected in his son

It’s such a lost opportunity that Percy never got to meet Neptune. Like actual eldritch horror Neptune who has no attachment to Percy or desire to look human. Neptune who hasn’t been seen in 500 years. Neptune who is the manifestation of every fear you’ve ever had about the ocean. And he understands why the Romans don’t honor him.

I just think that would be neat.
