Alright so who's gonna write the magical realism AU where oscar and lando get turned into kids - cue impromptu grid babysitting including painting (see previous art), lullabies ("are you sure house music is the right choice-" "he loves it, look he's sleeping") and snack time ("whoever gave lando fish can Bring me a new shi- ay, cabron, stop throwing it!")

Like they have them drawing while everyone scrambles around trying to find a counter spell. And when they see oscar's painting alex, george and carlos are immediately like "lando yes we'll take lando to babysit" thinking that he'll be the easier child. Which leaves Max and Charles to take care of Oscar.

Cue to Max reading to Oscar from an online article on the new redline car while Charles cuts up an apple, all of them pretty chill because they figured out pretty fast that kid Oscar is still a car nerd and so is Max (and Charles tbh).

Meanwhile Carlos, Alex and George running around the paddock covered in paint, food and frantically searching for lando who is currently on a sugar high and on the run.

SOBBING ppl expecting oscar to be the evil demon child purely based on his drawing only for him to be the Chillest Kid Ever is so real and lando looking like an angel but then causing complete havoc?????? so real too

heyy idk if this is weird but i was looking for this fanfic,, a future fic (or at least it was at the time) and i think it was landoscar and basically one of them retired and became a mentor for the younger drivers and then they got together again and it had flashbacks and it was the most gut wrenching shit I'd ever read. so anyways im just wondering if it was you who wrote it or if you know this fic because im just dying to reread it.

the image of oscar and max watching f1 while both under a table is absolutely amazing i will be thinking about this for the next year. Imagine some time down the road at their own wedding where they both just need a second to themselves so they crawl under one of the tables and it's just like when they first met, except now they're wearing their wedding suits and holding hands and just giggling because holy shit we just got married.

Choscar or Maxcar for the 22 (meeting at a wedding) au? :)

It’s not that Oscar isn’t happy for his cousin, or whatever, it’s just. Well. She just happened to hold her wedding on the same day as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. And it’s going to be the championship decider. So Oscar doesn’t think he’s that insane when he crawls underneath one of the tables in the back of the room just so he can watch a live stream in peace.

Makes him feel even less insane when he finds someone already there.

“Oh, shit, sorry mate,” the guy says, holding up his phone. “Was just trying to catch some F1.”

“Me too,” Oscar says, sort of awkwardly half hunched under the table.

At that, the guy grins, and scoots over. “Join me. I have unlimited data.”

It’s a bit weird, probably. Two grown man shoved under a table watching F1 together. But the guy – who introduces himself as Max – is pretty funny, and he knows his shit, and when it ends, when the race is over and the guests are starting to go home, Oscar finds himself reluctant to move.

“We should do this again sometime, next season,” Max says. “Although maybe on a proper couch next time.”

Oscar laughs. “Yeah, yeah for sure,” he says, and watches Max crawl out from underneath the table. He should send his cousin a thank you note. And maybe some flowers. She deserves flowers.

they do both. they have a whole series of “does a two person road trip in this car make us want to kill each other?” which is like, the definitive measure of whether it’s any good for a long trip. except at some point even the idiosyncrasies of the cars do not outweigh their comfort with each other so there’ll be a video that’s like “not comfortable. loud. not fun to drive. didn’t want to kill each other so 8/10” and someone calls it out by comparing it to a previous video where a similar rating was more sensibly a 5/10 for a number of fairly murderous urges

LMAO oh my god the longer they do this together the more comfortable/used to each other they get the less likely they want to kill each other. oscar's like "maybe we should change it up, put george in the backseat" and max is like "that would make every car an automatic 1/10"

no but podcast maxcar who start travelling a lot more to test cars etc (they’re starting to get good deals with newish cars to test) and then when they’re somewhere in europe one of them decides they want to do something touristy and it becomes a habit. doesn’t matter what country/city they’re in they’ll pick one (1) thing to do. so they’re like. listen the image i have is sitting with their legs dangling from the leaning tower of pisa. which is ridiculous. but they’re doing something vaguely fun except they’re not really the type of people to enjoy this except with each other and there’s a moment of “oh. maybe they’re right maybe we are dating?”

screaming max and oscar are literally out on cute european dates like "oh my god have we been dating this WHOLE TIME"

i'm thinking so heavily about that one prince oscar au you were talking about not too long ago. and maybe charles and max both try to court him or whatever - which is difficult when they're both f1 drivers - and poor oscar doesn't know what to do with himself. he thought he would never get to meet one f1 driver, let alone have two of them trying to court him

please oscar hates pr events but they ask him to do the aus gp and he's like "YES. i mean yeah sure of course yeah why not" but he's like. vibrating with excitment

No but everyone connects the dots but just in a totally wrong way. Because for some strange reason the media suddenly assumes he's dating George.

at that point max would just rage quit i think

im gonna be real with you all i have not been online as much lately and i have no idea where the franz hermann thing comes from

at some point i think max and oscar just Give Up. which is probably exactly when they do something that makes people go OH MY GOD THEY ARE DATING

Max and Oscar who just enjoy being around each other, just sharing their day to day. Oscar napping while Max does his sim races (occasionally joining him). They just seem so content around each other (home is a person here we gooooo)
