As for the abilities, most apply to MC. There will be chances to both gain and lose abilities as the story progresses. I don't want to give away which ones do apply vs the ones that don't.

Throughout the years many different behaviors and traits popped up due to the Sicken and how it shows up in people. Everyone is infected with a dormant strain, therefore how it shows up in person can be completely different than others. Abilities are only found in post Humans (not Seekers) and Sleepers. This list may not even cover all Abilities that can occur, and some are strictly hypothetical.

Parasitism- The ability to live off of another life force while being able to puppet it for your needs

Chroning- The ability to control time, can jump to the future, slow down time, and reverse actions by reversing time itself. Can trap people in time loops if strong enough

Reality Bending- The ability to shape, change and destroy aspects of reality

Hemokinesis- The ability to control blood

Decay Manipulation- The ability to change the rate of decay of both living and not living things

Now that you have learned all the known Abilities, the next format is the Racial classifications of the people of the world.

"Humanity can be divided in to two large groups in the lSp, Human/Mid Post human and Completely post human. To understand the difference between the two, it's simply measured by if someone is infected or not. Of course this has led to debate by various activist and rights groups on if classifying people based off of their infection is ableism and even racism. And naturally there is push back by those both infected and not, and yet it doesn't change the bias people have against one another. Nytes are a unique group similar to a lot of early modern humans, they tend to have a mixture of Human and Infected DNA making them an easy target for blame. Nytes do not typically need to ingest the bodies or blood of others to live and most prefer to stay away from it. That leads them to being ostracized by their fellow infected. However they do tend to engage in a lot of hedonistic behaviors lead to them not being always welcomed in Lite cities. Humanity no matter their form will find a way separate themselves.

The formally recognized groups are the only ones listed in this format.

Still Human/ Mild Post Human

Sleepers (homo sapien-dormeo) - Sleepers are the second rarest group of mild Post humans. They are like baseline humans in every way besides having Abilities. Most Sleepers are specialized in one thing and have some mastery of 2-4 more disciplines. They tend to use their abilities for the betterment of everyone's lives but that doesn't stop some from hurting others with them. MC was a Sleeper, their powers were not typical of Sleepers and that's probably why they were able to survive as long as they did. Sleepers tend to have a hard time making it out of childhood due to their Abilities suddenly manifesting and causing rapid changes in their body's to adapt. Out of 100 Sleepers born only 25 of them will reach adulthood. After that half of that (12.5% total) will reach middle to old age (50+ years old). The current oldest living Sleeper is Saint Belladonna at the age of 96, even Shepards hold her in a high regard.

Indebted (homo sapien-potentia) -Humans that have a naturally existing immunity to TMD. Due to this they are seen as the most important Humans to date, their genes my hold an answer to not only a cure but a potential reversing of infection completely. They sometimes get treated like royalty or become lab rats, it depends on the connection they have. You would never know if someone is an Indebted unless you witness them not changing after getting infected. This doesn't mean the infected won't try to kill them, it just means if they get bit and can get away they won't change into a turn. There are studies being conducted to see if there is overlap between Sleepers and Indebted. They can not have kids with Plagued at all due to their body naturally fighting against the disease.

Baseline Humans (homo sapiens) - The non infected and non powered Humans. Most Humans fall under this category. There really isn't much to say besides they are the only group to exist during the pSp and continue to do so. Most Lite Cities and Towns are made up around half or more of the population being Baseline humans. Now Nyte Cities and their respective Towns don't have the same rules and social protections in place for Baseline humans, leading to them getting trafficked and being forced into various forms of slavery. In retaliation some Lite Cities and Towns ban almost anyone suspected of being Plagued or a Nyte, which leads to more tensions. Currently Baseline Humans are on a slow decline with more Sleepers and Nytes being born. Peak cities tend to have most of the Humans still found on the planet, and even then there is a significantly larger amount of racial mixing than in Lite/Nyte Cities.

Completely Post Human

Plagued (homo lamia/ homo anthropophagous)

Turned- This was the very first group of infected humans that maintained their humanity. Original thought to be a myth, but as more stories and even people showed up matching the criteria, they got recognized as an official race. Most Turned are fairly young in terms of life span. There are Turned from the beginning of the Sicken, however these are extremely rare because of the difficult they faced the first 200 years Sp. Turned need to ingest human blood in order to survive, however they typically won't kill the person. They can also sustain themselves on a regular human diet but can not solely survive on it. pSp born Turned are sought out by different groups for different things. Some seek the knowledge they have of the before time and become students under them. Some seek to kill and consume them due to the immense power within them, there are rumors that if you drink the blood and eat the flesh of an Elder Turned you can gain part of their abilities and knowledge for a considerable part of time. However these rumors are unfounded and would most likely just turn you into a Shepard or Seeker. Some want to study them and find out if their blood/lymph system has a potential cure (even of that means kidnapping Elder Turned and regular Turned. Most reside in Nyte Cities as liaison between Humans and Post Humans. Few live within Lite cities mostly due to fear that 1 of them could snap, Elder Turned are always welcomed however.

Shifted- With all great power, comes great responsibility; a lesson Sleepers learn if they push themselves too hard. Becoming a Shifted is a threat to all Sleepers, especially those who heavily rely on their Abilities. Now Shifted are different from the Turned because only Sleepers can become one. When they become a Shifted, they lose the ability that caused them to change. However they can learn new Abilities based off of their second most potent Ability.

Seekers- People who tragically lost their humanity shortly after or during an active infection stage. It's not a matter of weak will, but heightened emotion. Due TMD directly attacking their nervous system and later the brain, there tends to be no way to reason with a Seeker. All Seekers are cannibals, they attack with no discrimination. They can easily be recognized by their blank red tinted stare, difficulty using tools, poor hygiene and sharp teeth and nails. These people are unwelcome in all Cities and Towns. Original the only group of known Plagued up until 50 years after the Sicken began.

Shepards- Are Sleepers who went off the deep end. The result of being infected and cannibalizing another is how this group came to be. Shepards are Seekers in many regards but they kept their intelligence making them terrifying opponents. Most groups tend to try to stay in their good graces. Seekers and Shepards to be found in the same areas with Shepards sometimes leading coordinated attacks with Seekers. Shepards' are typically nomadic while a few are semi-nomadic. There has been no known cases of Shepards no longer engaging in cannibalism.

Nytes- Nytes are classified as a person of mixed background. Their parents tend to be 1 infected and 1 human, there are also cases of Nytes marrying each other and having Nyte children themselves. However 2 Nytes don't always produce another Nyte and sometimes end up with a Sleeper or Shepard. When that occurs the child is typically given away (in the case of Sleepers, unless the parents live in a Lite City, children are given up to either the closest human relatives of the Nytes or a designated Rearing Home) or raised by a Mock (group of Shepards). They don't give their kids away out of disdain but out of fear of what can happen to them if others realize what they are and harm them. Nytes in themselves are a rare group because you'd be hard press to see a human and infected have a relationship long enough to produce one, and even then they are shamed by their respective groups from interacting in that manner with others. There are 4 known ways a Nyte can be born.

The first is a Shifted/Turned pairing with a Baseline Human, this is the most common way. You are more likely to see this group within Nyte Cities where despite prejudice existing again Humans, there are more relationships between the two. Lite Cities also have racial mixing, however there aren't sizable Turned populations within so if this does happen it's most likely a Shifted and Human.

The second most common Nyte background is a pregnant human becomes a Seeker in the 2nd or 3rd trimester, due to their body becoming infected their child now has a mix of the parent's pre-infected and infected DNA (the other parentage doesn't matter in this case). This only applies if it the 2nd or 3rd trimester, 1st trimester always ends in a miscarriage. Nytes that were born of Seeker parentage tend to not live long due to be cannibalized by their parent, or being bit too far from an established city/town. These Nytes to be treated with sadness and distance by all groups. Almost always orphans.

The second rarest group of Nytes are those with a Sleeper parent and a Turned parent. Sleepers tend to stick to Lite Cities due to be related to Baseline Humans more than anything and Turned tend to stick to Nyte Cities as most Lite Cities are hesitant to host too many Turned at once. There is also the issue of Sleepers being seen as more, 'appetizing' to all Plagues and can led to the harm or even death of the Sleeper. Nytes born of this union tend to be a lot more gifted in terms of Abilities, averaging around 4 separate abilities at once, and 6 sub-abilities.

The third most rare- at least according to Lite Databases- are Nytes born from Nyte parents. Nytes popped up around 100 Sp, so due to the relatively new status as a group, the furthest a fully Nyte family can go back is 4-7 generations. These groups exist mostly in towns outside Lite Cites and Nyte Cities themselves. They are most likely to be in contact with their Human family members but that's not common for 3rd gen Nytes. There's always a gamble when two Nytes have kids and depending on the child's status they may or may not be welcomed in their community.

"You are one of the 'lucky ones' as many living in the Shaded Lands would say. To live a life of relative comfort while not worrying if a Seeker attack, larger town or the elements will be the thing that wipes your whole settlement out.

You know the old saying 'Cities are for staying, Towns are for starting, and good luck in the Wastes.'

It worked out great, until the first city went dim an event that no one could've predicted and no one survived. See the lights going out in certain districts or just a block was normal. It was a way to test the system and expand the cities in whichever direction was beneficial for long term stability. What happened in the Lou was not only a warning but possible a sign of what was to come. An entire city dark, and when darkened it left it open to attacks from everything the light scorned.

News of this monumental loss of not only resources but life reached you city by a turning caravanner, half delirious, people thought nothing of it until no one heard anything from anyone who ventured a little too close to the former Bridge City. Being the upstanding and honorable citizen you are, you volunteered (not like you could say no or anything) and joined a ragtag group of fronters with your best friend and of course everything went wrong. The block you all took refuge in suddenly lost light and the only survivors ended up being you, your friend, and a toddler who will be in therapy for the rest of their life.

After returning you have been tasked with finding the source of the Dimming and making sure it not only is a one off situation but your city isn't next to go dark.

Will you be humanity's saving light or chose to embrace the dark with no regard for you fellow man?

The choice is yours, of course, just remember for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction."

Nytelites is a sci-fi/post-apocalyptic story about found family, loss of innocence and changing things thought to be beyond a singular person. Romance, befriend, or even kill the 7 available romance options. Some, you may never met depending on your choices. All ROs are romanceable by Allosexual and Asexual MCs, though some will only get involved with MCs of certain backgrounds.

MC is soft locked as both in their mid- to late 20s, good family relationship (in the beginning, things can of course change) and a Sleeper (with a chance to no longer be one by the end of the story). Everything else is customable.

Nytelites is an 18+ story with content not suitable for minors and potentially triggering topics such as:

Neglect

Sexual Harassment/ Assault (option to skip conversations around them)

Sexual Interactions (consensual/ optional)

Conversations around Sex Work

Blood

Cannibals/ Vampires
