This blog is about what Benoît de Moncuit aka Obeno likes and wants to share. Benoît de Moncuit is a french autodidact music producer from Lyon and Grenoble. Ten years ago he started to compose tracks with short samples. Then he founded the band « No more cab » in order to produce techno groovy and powerfull tracks under the influence of Detroit and Berlin. His productions started to get a maturity in year 2008 when he was discovered in his solo project (Obeno) by TSUGI (French magazine) in June. During the year 2009 he started a collaboration with the saxophonist Jo Deldo. Their first EP « Sweet Sax », which mixes Detroit influences and jazz, has been released on Logos Recordings and has been acclaimed by Rennie Foster and Laurent Garnier.In the middle of the 2010 year, his first EP as Obeno went out on Big Mama Recordings. After few years producing techno tracks, Benoît feels the need to compose quieter music, allowing to express the influences that are close to his heart (Air, Four Tet, Caribou, Boards of Canada …). This new momentum has given birth to the EP “Sparkle Of Your Mind”, released on digital platforms April 15th 2011.
