"cannibalism as a metaphor for love" folks are the reason a lot of phantom blood fans weird me out when they say that dio "loved" jonathan so much he...murdered him at his honeymoon and beheaded him and grafted his head onto his body so that they could be together forever? how is that love in any way? he despised him since the moment they met and it's in their last moments the two enemies respected each other as rivals, though I doubt there was anything even remotely "respectful" about him then desecrating his corpse when he was dead?

also araki making two adoptive brothers have a technically biological child together in the most messed up way imaginable really brought out the weird side of the fandom huh

I think on one hand their relationship CAN be really interesting because of like, sibling rivalry (coming from somebody with a sibling and like, I DO want to beat his ass sometimes) but it's like.
