Any pronouns / grown adult / call me whatever. There’s something deeply wrong with me, but what exactly that something is changes regularly.

Irt printing presses being a very recent thing in the grand scale of the human world. If you could give one printing press (say a Golding Pearl No. 1) and the tech involved to cast type to one figure from your research. Who do you think would have the most impact, with communication of their findings now able to be mass produced?
(I work in letterpress and this is a hypothetical I like to play around with when I’m running prints.)
THE GREAT GOD-PHARAOH AKHENATEN
For these reasons:
Introduces the printing press as early as possible while still being funny
Akhenaten was a weirdo who had strange religious beliefs
Egypt had the economic capacity to mass produce printed text
Egypt had the naval capacity to spread the printing press to the rest of the Mediterranean

Yeah so unfortunately, my friend was right. Muttering 'I'm gonna put on the greatest talent show this town has ever seen' darkly to myself is not only vastly funnier than saying I'm gonna kms, but is also somehow more concerning to anyone who might overhear it

Teso Dos Bichos manages to be a both a phenomenally boring and stupid episode of television.

the cultural object of the black hole is kind of remarkable. It's almost an anti-God in a sense, a negative infinity. Yeah there's this kind of dead sun that's collapsed into an infinitely dense point, and if you fall past its event horizon you're fucked. Every schoolchild knows this. A black hole can be introduced in a superhero blockbuster without any explanation except for its established look and the name "black hole", and this will be understood as the ultimate natural disaster, which even superman could not hope to defeat. truly S-tier cosmic object

Americans will put rims and a subwoofer on literally any vehicle, it was only the moon’s lack of atmosphere that prevents the rover blasting trap beats across the craters

the mayor, as a concept, has an aesthetic appeal unique among politicians. any member of a council, of a voting body, these people can't *do* anything on their own, theyre like a leg or an arm. theyre incomplete, conceptually. not an interesting figure, unless the point is the nitty gritty politicking. and an executive at a higher scale, this is too inhuman. this is necessarilly a manager of underlings, a guy who for the most part just appoints people. can't really be "from" his entire constituency. but a mayor...a mayor is very much like a village "big man", any other admirable, respected part of your community. the mayor is a primal figure. they mayor, in image, is very much like the kings of old, when they mostly just ruled little city states. their outsized role in fiction is appropriate

It really is crazy how if you mention you write fanfiction with people outside fandom, they're always like "you should change the names and try to sell it." It misses the point (fun), but more importantly to me, I get slightly (and I know irrationally) insulted on a craft letter. Excuse me, my fanfic is entwined with the canon, thank you very much. I wish sometimes less entwined. You wouldn't believe the stupid bullshit some of my fics have to include because of canon.

The use of “sickening” as an adverb connected to the sound of a bodily injury is one of my most loathed examples of automatic prose. Not only is it a bland, overused description, but it’s consistently used in contexts where it’s supposed to be shocking, so the lack of depth and distinction is wildly counterintuitive.
“There was a sound, and it was bad, you shall receive no more detail on this matter.”
