Understandably, many of us are depressed with how the election has turned out.

However, please pay attention to how the democratic party is going to explain this loss. Right now they are scrambling for answers and some of them are dangerous for the future of the party and its own constituents.

I will be referencing the NYT article posted today (Devastated Democrats play the blame game and stare at a dark future):

Some are already attacking the party's stance on trans issues. Rep. Seth Moulton describes how the party is too focused on "not hurting anyone's feelings". This is dangerous rhetoric for a party that is at least supposed to pretend to care about human rights and trans rights. We cannot allow this sentiment to take hold and permeate through the party.

Some will point the finger at the uncommitted/Arab/Muslim population. For those that didn't follow the election numbers that closely, this population did not singlehandedly screw the democrats over. This was only mentioned in the article but we need to be on high alert for racist sentiment especially when Trump will no doubt be saying much worse.

Some are saying the democrats simply didn't go center enough. I will not hide my bias and say that this is so stupid to believe. Kamala Harris basically ran a Republican Lite campaign. She brought Republicans with her on the campaign trail, talked about a border wall, and focused on small business'. All the while not splitting from Biden when a majority of America didn't like him and did not want a repeat of his administration. The one group Harris made inroads with this election? People who make above $100,000. The Democratic party went so far center they lost their main base. And if they do not come up with messaging and economic policies for their base next time around, they will continue to lose.

I am not saying you have to agree with me on the exact reason why the democrats lost this election. Do I think there were other factors that affected this outside of them catering to the center? Yes. However, if the democrats walk away from this thinking they need to continue catering to the center this will undeniably affect their messaging and stance around trans rights and the community, poc (the Muslim population in particular), and a host of other things for the worse.

Do not let them get away with it.
