It is no exaggeration to say that this baby is/was the best and strongest muse I’ve ever had. The Reaper shuddered as he felt his fellow meister’s fingertips ghost along his neck. Was she…yes, that must be it. Being what he was, his scars rarely lingered for more than a few days, but this one was still rather fresh and very obvious. It ran from the right side of his neck, just under his jawline, down his collarbone to his chest, and though most of it was covered by his clothing, the top was clearly visible over his collar.

As her hand reached his collar, seemingly curious as to how far down the jagged line went, he caught it and held it away. “Please don’t,” he said without looking at her. “I don’t like to be reminded of my…injuries.” He was going to say “mortality” but managed to stop himself at the last moment.

Liz crossed her arms as she stared at her Meister. "Kidd...were you in my room?"

He stiffened and inwardly scrabbled for a safe answer. "Why would you think that?" Answer with a question: a perfect diversion.
