Uh, well, that's...you know, when you promoted me, especially that promotion to working directly with Hojo (bastard), I wasn't really sure if I was up for it. I was really worried you'd misjudged me. But in the end, I actually was smart enough to do it. And I'm finally starting to believe you that my wild creativity might actually be something useful, and not just something weird so...maybe that, too.

13. Jealous kiss

Ci let out a heavy sigh as she scanned the length of the dining room. An exorbitant array of foods from different cities, states, and even countries laid out over the length of many wooden tables adorned with frilly little white table cloth. The smells were numerous and irresistible, or at least, they should've been. Instead, Ci was given them no more than a passing glance as she scanned the room adjacent to it. Ever the center of attention, her husband stood in the back of the room regaling the all too stuffy and stuck up party guests with tales of his grandeur(though twisted under a lens that would make himself look better) and actor prowess. It seemed that a someone had fancied themselves some action as they linked their right arm with his. Whether he even noticed or not was a question all of its own but still she couldn't help staring as a wave of emotion started to rise in her chest. She bit the bottom of her lips subconsciously, willing herself to ignore the rising current of emotion.

"What are you so worried about? We're married, we've got rings, it's our party...." Her voice trails off as she watches Marc finally seem to take notice of the woman on his shoulder and start engaging her in conversation?? She felt herself rising to her feet before she could think any better of it. Ci smiled politely as she hurried through the crowd, seas of plastic figures and tired smiles fading into the background as she went. At least it seemed that most of the guests seemed keen to clear the path for her, which she was grateful for.

"...and then I said Why don't you try the escargot and see for your-oh hello Dear~" Marc stops gesturing towards the woman, brown eyes immediately locked onto her own as she comes into view.

"Hey, sweetie~" Ci stops a few feet away from Marc and this annoyingly insistent mystery guest. "Benjamin said he could use some assistance in the kitchen. Something about the Hors d'oeuvres I think." She raises an eyebrow expectantly up at him.

"Ah yes, sorry Ms." he turns to glance back at the woman in white with a pristine smile and apologetic tone, "but it would seem my presence is required elsewhere~" He starts to untie their arms casually, a satisfied smile resting on his lips as he looked back at her.

Ci's face only flushes hotter as he eyes her, winking accompanied by a perfectly annoying smirk. She's already walking by the time the stranger speaks again.

"W-wait!" The woman pulls Marc back towards her. He looks surprised for a moment but quickly regains his composure. "Ms. I really must be go-mmpff"

Ci's lips are on his in an instant, the taste of alcohol and cotton candy mixing together in an abstract kind of harmony. She holds him there for a few moments, black and red linked by flushed cheeks and cupped faces. No matter how many times they shared lips he always managed to send her heart aflutter and chest light as a schoolgirl's.

Marc is the first to pull away, slipping his free hand into Ci's whilst stealing back his other one. Ci looks reluctant to break the contact as she laces her fingers in between his own.

"I'm sure you understand now Ms, we really must be off~" Sparing no look back, the two disappeared back into the crowd with a different kind of fun in mind.
