can we take a moment to just think about how incredibly scary magical healing is in-context?

You get your insides ripped open but your friend waves his hands and your flesh just pulls back together, agony and evisceration pulling back to a ‘kinda hurts’ level of pain and you’re physically whole, with the 100% expectation that you’ll get back up and keep fighting whatever it was that struck you down the first time.

You break your arm after falling somewhere and after you’re healed instead of looking for ‘another way around’ everybody just looks at you and goes “okay try again”.

You’ve been fighting for hours, you’re hungry, thirsty, bleeding, crying from exhaustion, and a hand-wave happens and only two of those things go away. you’re still hungry, you’re still weak from thirst, but the handwave means you have ‘no excuse’ to stop.

You act out aggressively maybe punch a wall or gnash your teeth or hit your head on something and it’s hand-waved because it’s ‘such a small injury you probably can’t even feel it anymore’ but the point was that you felt it at all?

Your pain literally means nothing because as long as you’re not bleeding you’re not injured, right? Here drink this potion and who cares about the emotional exhaustion of that butchered village, why are you so reserved in camp don’t you think it’s fun retelling that time you fell through a burning building and with a hand-wave you got back up again and ran out with those two kids and their dog? 

Older warriors who get a shiver around magic-users not because of the whole ‘fireball’ thing but the ‘I don’t know what a normal pain tolerance is anymore’ effect of too much healing. Permanent paralysis and loss of sensation in limbs is pretty much a given in the later years of any fighter’s life. Did I have a stroke or did the mage just heal too hard and now this side of my face doesn’t work? No i’m not dead from the dragon’s claws but I can’t even bend my torso anymore because of how the scar tissue grew out of me like a vine.

Magical healing is great and keeps casualties down.

But man.

That stuff is scary.

Five: Why did you terminate her?

Handler: Same reason we would terminate you. She found out about the apocalypse and became hellbent on stopping it. She caused quite a bit of damage, *laughs* we practically had to spend half our budget fixing it.

Handler: Which is why we have to keep you apart.

Aibuki cam create and transform soundwaves. This lets her change direction, volume and pitch. Her powers first manifested as very low and loud cries, the first time she cried everyone around her lost their hearing. When her powers where discovered they where already at full force so she had to learn how to control the large amount of power she was given.

00.08 shapeshifter powers

Emiko can change and rearrange the matter in her body into practically anything. The more detailed the harder it is to maintain without it falling apart. Her powers first emerged as being able to disguise herself as other people and with practice and discipline she’s unlocked the ability to copy machines and other animals. She’s even created a few creatures of her own to use on missions. While she’s not limited to her own matter when it comes it these transformations it has to come from somewhere. It can be rocks, people or even air. This means she can disguise other people and objects without being connected to them directly although it requires some of her original matter. The draw back of this is her time using matter that’s not hers is even shorter.

Any information on a Sylph of Life?

I can certainly dig up an interesting character from that.

Sylphs heal their aspect, and heal using their aspect. Life is about energy, life, desire, growth, and eagerness. So the Sylph of Life would simply heal people’s lives, healing their wounds, allowing them to grow emotionally, and bringing them back to life.

A Sylph of Life would start out wildly optimistic and energetic. They would tend to meddle in people’s affairs, even if their meddling and inspirational conversations would lead people down the wrong path. However, they would be usually very kind and be great in helping people back up.

As they developed, the Sylph of Life wouldn’t change all that much. However, their goal would be to take more of an active role in people’s affairs, using their newfound powers to directly heal people, something the Sylph would find a challenge. However, they would eventually need to step up and heal a possibly-dead teammate of them whose life needed to be healed.

A god tiered Sylph of Life would have fairly simple but incredibly powerful abilities. Sylphs in general are healers, but the Sylph of Life would take their healing to an entirely new level. Healing crippling wounds would be a cinch, and bringing people back from death their specialty. On the emotional side, the Sylph would also be able to heal people’s optimism, motivation, and desires, making them a walking anti-depressant. They would also be invaluable at helping people get through their emotional challenges, allowing them to grow as people. In short, a kindly Sylph of Life is the ultimate in healing, both physically and mentally.
