The fact that 2001 is rated G is sooo fucking funny to me like well yes there is no nudity or cussing or violence. there is something 1009283828% scarier that is not accounted for in our rating system .

In Red Dwarf, they rebuilt the sets between seasons 2 and 3, including the sleeping quarters. The change was never mentioned within the text of the show, but the new sets are labelled as "officers quarters" and are slightly bigger, with room for Lister to put a fridge and cooker into the space. So the implication is that at some point between the end of season 2 and the start of season 3, the characters decided to move to the nicer, slightly bigger officers quarters instead of staying in the room they were using when the rest of the crew were alive.
There are several other things implied by this.
Firstly, there's the decontamination. In the season 1 episode Confidence and Paranoia, Lister gets sick because he goes to the officers deck to snoop around when it hasn't been decontaminated. There's a discussion between Lister and Rimmer where it's stated that it was on Rimmer's daily goal list a week ago to decontaminate it. In response, Rimmer announces that it's on tomorrow's daily goal list.
The fact that the end of season 1 and the entirety of season 2 happens between this conversation and the change in sets implies that Rimmer took over a year to get around to doing the task that he put on tomorrow's to do list. Honestly, mood.
There is another possibility. Season 3 reintroduces Kryten and we first see the new sleeping quarters after Kryten has joined the crew. So it's possible that Rimmer never got around to decontaminating the officers deck, and that the reason they were able to move in season 3 was because Kryten was the person who actually finished the job.
The other thing to mention is the fact that Rimmer and Lister are still sharing a room after the move. I can't remember the exact size of the crew, but I think there's a mention in an early episode of there being more than a hundred people on the ship. So there are enough beds free that they could easily have a room to themselves. The fact that Rimmer moves in with himself in Me2 is evidence of this. Rimmer and Lister chose to move quarters between the end of season 2 and the start of season 3, and yet, despite how much they claim to dislike each other, they chose to continue sharing a room.
Obviously the doylist explanation for this is that it's a lot harder to have a sitcom when two of the characters can easily avoid each other the entire time, but from a watsonian perspective, it has some interesting implications about the fact that, despite everything, Lister and Rimmer will continue to share space with each other even when they clearly don't have to.

Watching The X-Files is a horrible emotional rollercoaster. Not because of any plot reasons, but because you get attached to Mulder's beautiful fluffy hair and then they cut it off and he looks like a baby duck but then, mercifully, time passes and you think his fluffy hair is back! Until well... no. I shan't say. It's too painful.

Rewatching Stasis Leak. I think it would've been interesting if Rimmer got the idea of trying to repair the drive plate from his future self.
We never find out how a soup vending machine technician came to try to repair something as important a faulty drive plate, but maybe Rimmer thought he could save himself and everyone else if he fixed the component before it caused a massive radiation leak.
Instead, it causes a time loop. Rimmer goes back in time to try to warn himself about the radiation leak, but instead of escaping into the spare stasis pod Past Rimmer tries to repair the drive plate himself, causing the accident.
This idea doesn't actually fit in with the dialogue of the actual episode as Future Rimmer doesn't even mention the radiation leak, but I think it could've been a fun idea.
It would provide another contrast to Lister, whose time loop means he is his own dad. Lister's time loop gives him life, while Rimmer's loop gives him death.
Sun and Moon.

reading the 8th doctor adventures out of order is good actually because it's thematically appropriate to never quite know what the lore is and who's who and to feel like you're missing something. #amnesia

I totally understand why Dr Who retconned the term "TARDIS" to be the actual term for it rather than just something Susan made up but imagine if they stuck with that and no one knew what the Doctor was on about with his "TARDIS" and all of Gallifrey thought it was his weird nickname for his time space capsule or whatever

Important things that RTD set up in his second run of DW and somehow failed to explain:
Why is Ruby magically able to cause snowfalls and why does she have 'a song in her heart' (or something along those lines)?
Why is Mrs Flood able to break the 4th wall?
Why is the Doctor able to hear non-diegetic music and what's going on with all the references with DW actually being a TV show?
Why was it important to mention that Belinda had a descendant, who the doctor met in 'Boom', that looked exactly like her if we're never going to explore the meaning of it again?
How is it possible that during Jodie Whittaker's era UNIT was gone, and just in a couple of years the organization is back with virtually unlimited funds and a whole avengers-tower right in the middle of London?
What happened with Rogue and how was he able to communicate with the doctor whilst still being trapped in superhell? (I reiterate that I don't like him as a character but I feel that this particular plot should have been resolved with Ncuti as the doctor as it would have been coherent with their story arcs)
Now that the doctor changed reality to bring back Poppy, what happened to the original Captain Poppy and the other space babies? Who were Poppy's original parents? And what happened to Bel's original life, wasn't it important as well? What about his housemates? How do we know that they weren't by accident erased from existence because the Doctor altered reality?
How tf is it possible that Timelords can't have children? The 10th doctor (who is written by RTD as well ffs) specifically mentioned a couple of times having children?!?! Make it make sense.
The whole bigeneration concept. I understand the idea, but I feel a more in-depth explanation would have been nice.
I'm sure there are more plot-points I'm forgetting, so feel free to add more, but the point I'm trying to make is: why would you set up so much stuff, if all Disney+ is giving you are 8 episodes per series?
It's frustrating, because the premise of those ideas are very interesting but they would require more time and more episodes to explore those concepts with a satisfying conclusion. Not to mention that RTD2 has been filled with fan-service galore, way too many characters (old and new) and publicity stunts, especially in the finale.
And of course the main victims of what happened in the end are Ncuti and Varada, because they were brilliant in their roles, and they deserved better and they deserved more. I just hope that they're getting lots of love and compliments from the fans, at least as consolation.
I'm not saying it's 100% RTD's fault, but I think some decisions led to some lazy writing and the result is... not the best to say the least.

The Doctor believing he is allowed full power over his companions lives is a feature, not a bug. It’s the Time Lord. It’s the Doctor leaving Susan when she had a crush and a dream of a different life. It’s the Doctor abandoning what feels like half of classic companions at the signs of love or needing to be done, often wordlessly without consulting them. It’s the Doctor forcing Rose home only for her to return as a god. It’s the Doctor pushing Rose into a parallel universe only for her to return with a dimension cannon. It’s the Doctor forcing Rose into a parallel universe and leaving Rose with a half-clone to play domestic with hoping it will stick this time. It’s the Doctor abandoning Jack, and running from him again and again. It’s the Doctor unilaterally deciding when and where he will hide as John Smith. It’s the Doctor getting rid of Harriet Jones and her golden age to make a power vacuum the Master will fill. It’s the Doctor wiping Donna’s memory and leaving her with a compensatory lottery ticket. It’s the Doctor putting River in the not-Matrix. It’s the Doctor attempting to wipe Clara’s memories and failing because she knew he would try and do that. It’s the Doctor locking Missy in a basement. It’s the Doctor telling Nardole he has to stay. It’s the Doctor telling Yaz she has to do this on her own. It’s the Doctor not doing a genetic trace on the Wish Baby like Mundy and just giving him to family that he would have wanted. It’s the Doctor warping Poppy and Belinda into having his ideal lives he wishes he could have.
Their god complex is a driving force of the show. And not meant to be uncriticised, as frequently it is abundantly clear to any normal audience member that this was Harmful to people, including the Doctor themselves in hindsight.
