Papyrus’s False Hope

Aftermath of the Disbelief Papyrus Fight

Papyrus Pushed open the door that led into the dark, empty house. He looked around Before taking a tired, slow step in and closed it, Letting the darkness swallow him up. It was quiet…There was No pun, there was no sound of his brother. Because–Sans was gone, He didn’t wanna believe it, He COULDN’T believe it. He hugged the jacket that was around his shoulders tightly, afraid that the last thing he had of Sans was going to disappear–Or turn to dust. That Damn..h u m a n…Took his Big brother from him. And no matter how many times he made them give up, they kept coming back. He tried to give them, So SO many chances…And they never listened. He hoped To Trust the human enough that they could see the Wrong they did…But they ignored it.

Perhaps he should’ve Believed Sans, When he told him that the Human was starting to behave oddly. Perhaps he should’ve Believed Undyne–But look where it Got them. He tried to Talk the human out of their actions, But instead Sans had to take The hit for him, Even with his One Hp. He Begged, Begged for–Someone, Hell even the Human to bring his brother back, All he wanted was his big brother Back!

The house didn’t feel the same, It felt lonely and Cold. Sans Would Usually be on the Couch sleeping, Now it was just…Empty. He Flipped The light switch to turn it On with a Shaky hand, Once the Switch flipped He Walked Over to the Couch and Collapsed Down onto it. He was emotionally and physically drained, He didn’t feel Like making spaghetti—Besides, He had no one to eat it with so why Bother?

Papyrus, With blank, emotionless eyes Stared at the tv. What was the Point, Sans Woulda Said something By now. He Knows that, He Knows what the Human did was Unforgivable and Unrepentable…But He Could still Try, Just for his sake at least. And Maybe convince the Human to Reset…But he knew they were not going to do that. Why would they?

He Closed His Eyes For a Brief Moment, Perhaps a Nap Wouldn’t Hurt Right?…Just a nap to maybe wake Up from this Horrible dream, This—This HAD to Be A Dream, If This Was, Sans Would/Should Wake Him Up Any moment! Right?….Right?

He let sleep finally consume him as His breathing was slow, A nap…just a quick nap, It shouldn’t be too hard.

In his dream filled state Papyrus woke up, In the same spot on the green sofa, But this time…Sans was there. Sans–Sans was alive? Was he really there? Was-Was everything reset so That He could finally have his brother Back? Did the human Finally Change? “S-Sans..?” He hesitated calling out softly with a shaky, weak voice afraid to trust himself to Speak.

“Oh? Heh, heya Paps! I just got back from Grillby’s” Sans shrugged leaning against the doorway, drinking a bottle of ketchup, His usual Smile plastered on his face as he winked.

“S-Sans? I..I thought-The human..” Papyrus’s voice came out weak and cracked.

“What? Papyrus I’m not sure what ya mean by that bro, But The human’s been here the whole time”

His eyes narrowed, His soul tensed, “The Human is here? M-maybe I Still have a chance I can-”

“Papyrus…I'm dead, remember?”

Oh…So this, WAS a dream, “No..no no no! You’re Not! You aren’t Dead! You are still h-here, You’re..here..aren’t you?”

“I wouldn’t be a dream if I was still here, Paps, You know that. The Human’s Already killed me, And Probably on their to Dust Undyne. Maybe they already did.”

“Why did you do it?...Why did you take the hit for me Sans..”

“Because your my Little Brother Paps, I couldn’t Lose you”

“But I lost my big brother!...I lost the only family I Had!...I Want My big brother Back!..I-If I had just convinced the Human a little Longer…!” Tears welled up in Papyrus’s eyes as he Sank to the floor. Tears flooded down his face as he Sobbed. “Why can’t the Human Just Reset?!...”

Papyrus Shot Awake, Breathing heavily…Oh. So he Really WAS dreaming, “Sans…” Papyrus sobbed Hugging His Brother’s Jacket Tightly and close to his chest, Afraid something was going to happen to it. Why Did he have to lose his big brother? what..What did he ever do to the human to deserve this torture? His breathing came out In fast, rapid, shaky breaths as he sobbed Hard, “Sans…brother..please…
