Weremons of Hope's Peak

Our second posted AU, this time, will involve Danganronpa! Weremons Of Hope's Peak is a Danganronpa Pokémon AU, but with a few twists! First of all, there's no killing game! (no Tragedy either, so don't worry about it) Second of all, other than the Ultimates having Pokémon, they are also sometimes Pokémon! Each Ultimate is a WerePokémon (Or Weremon for short), a type of being capable of (or some would say cursed to) mutating into a pokémon when one of a few possible triggers are met... for example, staring at a full moon, being overwhelmed by emotion, their pokémon instincts overpowering their human ones or by their own volition. The fact that they aren't fully human is a closely guarded secret, with only the other students and the school's staff being aware of it.

So, who has what 'Inner Mon'? Well, we're only tackling the first game's characters for now, but with time, everyone will come. So, to start off!

WEAPONs of Gaia

So, for our first posted AU! The WEAPONs of Gaia, one we've been noodling on for a lil while, where each of the human party members of Final Fantasy 7 is linked to one of the various WEAPONs the Planet throws around in both the og game and various spinoffs. Red/Nanaki doesn't have to be linked to one to keep up, cos he's just Built Different. Cait Sith, on the other hand... well, Reeve isn't linked to a WEAPON, but apparently he got inspired when he saw how op AVALANCHE was, cos Cait outstrips Scarlet's best robots by even more in this AU.

Okay, so, first off, which WEAPON is each party member linked to? Vincent's easy, he's linked to Omega since Chaos is already Omega's messenger, but what about the others? (as well as linking to the ff wiki, each of these will link to the main entry for each character in the au, once they're up)

Each party member gains not only increased physical and magical prowess from being linked, but once they Awaken their link, they gain some physical attributes as well, though for the most part they can shift back to fully human, and can even take a Hybrid form, which looks something like a mix of their human form and a miniature version of the WEAPON they are linked to.

The point of divergence for this AU is that, millennia ago, the Planet came to the conclusion that it needed to know more about the little organisms crawling all over its surface. While it could already speak to the Cetra, and the Firelions had a similarly-deep connection, these Humans that had been cropping up recently had no innate link to it, and that could lead to problems down the way. But they probably weren't capable of linking directly to it, it might overload the meat they used to think with... but it did have some beings linked to it that should be small enough to not make the humans' heads explode! ...hopefully. As a result, humanity got linked to the Planet, through the WEAPONs as a sort of buffer. And every century or so, a human were more strongly linked to one of the WEAPONs than others - while alive, their physical and magical abilities were increased, and when they died, as well as joining the Lifestream, they were 'anchored' in whichever WEAPON they were linked to, acting as advisors to their WEAPON and the Planet.

This served the Planet quite well for a very long time, but lately the humans have been accelerating in their development, and are able to affect the Planet in greater ways, more rapidly than ever before, and 'one every century or so' wasn't cutting it. The Planet pushed a little harder, and now there's seven of its Champions all at once, one for each WEAPON. Just in time for the Calamity to resurface, the Calamity's Son to be lost to her, and things to get a little hairy...

Masterpost and Introductions

Welcome, all, to "Of Monsters and Miscellany", a blog dedicated to the theoretical ideation and realization of multifandom AUs, mostly Monster AUs but expect to see unrelated AUs pop up every now and then. This blog is run by Oxy and Shiki, each of us specialized in different fandoms to cover more ground (which in practice means sometimes only one of us knows anything much at all about the verse we're spinning an au for, and the other is mostly just cheerreading and being a sounding board). Updates will depend on our whims (and spoons), as well as whenever the Hyperfixation Spirit possesses us. Below the cut, you will find the repository of our AU tags, for an easier search.
