Week 6 Blog
For this week I decided to go with Congressman Bill Shuster, representing Philadelphia. A very public Republican person, if posts are not about his campaigns or bills he is trying to pass, then usually it’s about bashing Obama and the things he did during his presidency. It was nearly impossible for me to not click the likes, and while it was nothing controversial, it was full of promotional content or things of that nature. This is actually not super different from one of my favorite musicians, Kenny Carkeet, who was formerly part of Awolnation. Kenny shares all his music and that of his friends and associates, while it’s not generally political, it is his own account and therefore his personal beliefs. Both surround themselves with the type of content in their careers, and every now and then share some experiences that occur. Shuster is definitely more professional, talking only about politics and not his everyday life, in contrast, Carkeet posts content from his everyday life. Both are targeted towards their audiences, Republican Supporters and Electronic / Rock Fans, Shuster and Carkeet respectively.
