Question for the more knowledge people here: where does the idea of saint-just being punk/emo/goth come from?

I normally would assume this is a tumblr fanon thing, but it has crept its way into a handful of portrayals in media, so I have to ask.

Was this something that originated after his death when he became the “legend” of the androgynous, beautiful, and cold “archangel of the terror”?

I’ve read about his handful of (rather hilarious) crimes, so I guess I could see that qualifying as punk. But for the most part, revolutionaries are rule-breakers by default: what makes Saint-Just fit the punk mold moreso than others?

I have yet to find any English sources that give emo vibes. I mean, he wrote poetry, but so did everyone else it seems. I’ve also heard him described as “sulky” but I haven’t read about him sulking yet so… yeah

If you guys have any sources that support or refute these ideas (or frankly, any sources that support what Saint-Just was like) please let me know! (Bonus points if they’re in English!)
