"Mhhh, pizza sounds great, if I can swallow I have no idea. " Loki replied, although his voice was so raspy that it was impossible to get it louder than a rough whisper. He sat up, feeling drenched in sweat. He really should take a shower later, this was all gross. He put the blanket around his shoulders and laid his head back, closing his eyes a bit, while making dying noises.
Verity checked the drugs on the table before looking back at him. "It's 2pm." She patted his shoulder and walked to his kitchen and fridge. "You think you can deal with some pizza or do you want a soup? Grandma edition." She asked a bit louder to be heard.

"Lucky you" Loki whispered and then coughed some more before emptying his nose. He pointed at the table next to him. It had your usual medication for being sick, plus a view cups of empty tea. "When I woke up ...no idea what time it is ...beside it still be... " he look behind him a bit. " being day."
A former frostgeant getting a cold, that was quite ironic. "Jeez man.." She reacted before letting go a sigh, dropping her hand. "Don't worry about me, when I get sick, it only stays a day or so, it's fine." 'Because I know a sorcerer, very good with healing spells, your wife actually' thought Verity, without sharing it. "However, you, my friend, you need some help. Did you take anything already? Any drugs?"

He was burning up, a quite high fever if we were being honest. "I had to work over time during the holidays... no matter the layers... this was bend to happ - fit of cough- " he groaned afterwards. "Maybe you shouldn't be here...don't want you to be sick too. "
Sweet Roosevelt he wasn't dead. The voice made Verity relaxed, her shoulders dropping in relief. She closed behind her and walked to this voice. "Hey." She gently greeted, frowing at what she was looking, aka a mess on a couch. "You look... great." She obviously lied, not hidding it. She left the pizza and beers on the nearest table before going to check Loki's temperature, her hand on his forehead. "You know you're supposed to cover yourself when you go outside right?"

The god started to walk away, yet did half a turn. Horns started to appear on his forehead. "Always leave them guessing , I'm pretty sure my soft heart is safe in your good hands Kate. " he spoke and winked. Munching on his pastry, he disappeared, leaving the younger Hawkeye with their newly gained gift of knowledge.
"Having the grounds to come out ahead is a slay, honestly. Maybe it won't be totally awful when I do get around to seeing her again," she mused. She didn't really expect to see her sister again any time soon, but it was nice to have the high ground whenever they did eventually meet up. Her grin faltered for a split second as Loki moved closer, though it quickly returned. "Careful, that news might just get out and then your reputation as a godly bad boy will be totally ruined."

"Well at least you'll have the high ground to make a come back , like a queen. What do you say nowadays? Slay ? " he attempted as if he hadn't a hand in that queen slay mouvement ...well it got out of hand and rather dramatic but point was, he was still influencing people. "That is what gods and mortals used to do ... take a little, give a little. But shall you ever feel alone , you can reach out..." he got closer to her ear. "I'm not that bad these days" he smiled.
Kate could practically feel the indignation in the silence from Susan at Loki's response, saw the phone light up and dim again as the call ended. "Bet she's livid. Thank you." She couldn't hide the amusement in her eyes, shaking her head. She knew eventually Susan would want to talk about this conversation, but that was a problem for a future date - and one that probably wouldn't be too difficult to handle. Right now she was nothing but relieved. "I owe you one for that, honestly. She's good at pushing my buttons, I don't think I would've been able to handle that quite as well."

Loki had fallen asleep on the couch. When ? He wasn't sure, how ? neither. All he knew was , that a voice woke him and made him jump up. It had been an exhausting period with the holidays and he could not wait for the whole christmas thing to really be over, because he all his limbs were hurting from working long hours, and he had probably caught a cold, because he felt sleepy and couldn't stop sneezing. "Here...here, I'm in the living room." he replied, recognizing Verity's voice.
@ofmischiefandchaos
"Knock Knock? Anyone there? The door was open." Okay it wasn't, but it wasn't locked either, plus she did knock a few times before inviting herself in. "I've got some fresh beer and pizza..." She added while hesitating to walk further in, unsure of what she would have to deal with by doing it. "Okay it's not funny anymore, you better be not dead..."

Loki nodded , not quite sure he understood what the other actually meant by decade. But he was not one to question it, simply because he was still cold, still tired and still willing to just let Ny's magic do it's thing. "Right...well...goodbye then....stranger." he stated and took a few steps back before turning his back and hurrying inside a subway entrance.
Great, now he had mail, 70% of it will end up in the nearest bin, for the rest he might, just maybe, deal with the not-so-mushy advertisements and for sure leave the letters to Sigyn. "Call it my good deed of the decade." It was mostly because his father looked miserable and because of family honors, he couldn't allow it, but no need to say it out loud. "Now go, before I change my mind."

Loki looked a bit stunned. "I'm not sure - " he started. Mail was his job, and if he lost the mail, he didn't know what they would do. He needed the job to be able to live in his appartment. He looked at the papers, mostly only advertisement , and 2 real letters on which the address was now unreadable. He hesitated, but really just wanted to go home, that was true. Maybe a bit too naive at this instant, he gave the pile of mushy papers to the stranger. "Thank you I suppose ?"
continued from here
Catch a cold, that sounded like a weird concept, one the wolf didn't want to see. Looking at the scarf, then at the mail. "You can keep the scarf." He first stated before pointing at the papers. "That's what stop you from going home?" He asked, thinking about eating it before remembering how those people were touchy about superficial things. "Give it to me, I'll take care of it." He offered with a forced smile.

"I am afraid I cannot give you any insights on that." he replied and clutched his hands together. "You seem genuine to me right now , if that helps ?"
“It certainly took me too long,” he replied, smirking a bit at the end. If Loki was himself he would surely tease him for admitting his own faults. “I tried,” he continued, “Or, at least, I thought I had tried hard enough….I’m afraid you may have never fully accepted it or believed it. I wish I knew if that was the case.”

"I don't need new clothes, the washing machine should do. I'll probably catch a cold anyway now , so I might as well finish my shift. " He gave him back the scarf. "Thank you for trying to save my honor. " he stated.
His kindness? Fenrir felt offended but allowed it. “Don’t mention it.” He replied with a forced smile and observed him being miserable. “I can see it. At this point, nothing will help you unless a shower and new clothes.”

"Great. " Loki agreed. "Have you a lot of experience here on Earth? " he asked, not using the same vocabulary he had been taught as a child. It only showed just how much he did not think of himself as Asgardian. "Is there something you like to do ?"
"Thank you, Loki. I would truly appreciate a more gentle vexation," she teased. "Though I would settle for an assurance that you will not fake your death again, or that if you did you would give me a warning first. I would rather not mourn you again for a long time." Sif was quiet for a moment, smile widening a bit as she listened to the other. "I would enjoy that, truly. I've greatly missed your company." It might be odd at first, relearning someone she'd once been known so well, but even before Loki had lost his memory they had grown apart - perhaps a new beginning would do them good.

Loki lifted an eyebrow. He heard that before. "If you really want to be my sister, then accept that I don't want to see you now, that I need time and if you want to built an honest relationship without gaslighting or use emotional blackmail by using mom, then I'll accept to go out with you. But I don't need you to feel loved and accepted , supported and elevated , cheered on ... because that would cast a shadow over you. And that, sister dear, is a shame, because all I wanted is to have a sister who was my best friend , not my enemy. Don't insist on Christmas, goodbye. "
Was Loki being a bit harsher than Kate usually was? Definitely. But he wasn't saying anything she hadn't thought on numerous occasions, and given how tired of her sister's pestering she'd grown lately she was willing to bet she would've said it herself. She shoved her hands back into her pockets, simply letting him do his thing and trying her best to keep the amused grin off her face as she heard Susan stumbling over her words. "Katie! How da-" Susan cut herself off, silent for a moment as she collected herself. "It's Christmas, Katherine. You should be with your family. It's what mom would have wanted."

"It seemed like you learned from that mistake. " Loki licked his lips. "Did you ever tell Loki that ? " he asked, wondering just why the man looked so ...regretful somehow.
ofmischiefandchaos:
The man listened to this story, not really grasping all of the details because it all seemed so big, so complex. It seemed like Thor truly just wanted to protect the man he was. Part of him felt back to not be able to give back any recognition. “It sounds like you have a lot of admiration for your brother.” Loki smiled shyly. “Why has it come to the rift ? Verity mentionned that I was feeling like I wasn’t your equal ? “ he inquired.

⚡
“I do,” Thor replied, offering his brother a genuine smile, “I have always and will continue to always admire the strength my brother has.” His smile remained on his face, it faltered ever so slightly. “The rift that grew between us….it was something I was blinded to. I failed to see how differently our father treated us and failed to shield you from his ire. He always expected more of you and I did not see it until it was too late.”

The fact that Loki was cold was almost more concerning than anything else in this damn city. Yet Verity didn’t overthink it, she smiled at his words and stood up next to him. “Alright. Let’s go to Rick’s place, you have to try their Gingerbread Coffee, pretty sure you went to that place at least once.”
