“yeah, i have. by you…just now, which means hell must be freezing over because that’s the closest to a compliment i’ll ever get from you” the male said with humor escaping him that was partly due to realizing how much of a lightweight fee was whilst the other part probably had to due with the buzz he was beginning to feel as he finished off of his drink.
“Shut your face,” she laughed. “I complimented you all the time. You were literally my only friend I was obsessed with you. You’re crazy.” Fee was gone and back in a second. “The bartender here is soo nice. He got me these drinks fast.” She slid his drink across the table. Fee sipped her drink and started chewing on the straw. “So who’s got your eye tonight?”

“STOP, stop, you’re killing me.” She giggled, waving her limbs about. “Has anyone ever told you you’re like reeeally funny? Cause you are. You are.” She finished the rest of her glass and grinned. “Next round’s on me!”

exasperated, avery rolled their eyes and dropped their shoulders. the tension moved to their arms, crossed against their chest. “open your eyes, fee! do you think he’d really just help you without a price?” they stared hard at her for a moment, their tone and their anger softening slightly at the look on her face. “look, vampires can’t be trusted, okay? men can’t be trusted. especially not kol, why can’t you see that? he’s bad.” at her statement, they let out a humorless breath of air, vaguely resembling a chuckle. but avery hardly found it funny, just unbelievable. “you weren’t there. you didn’t hear what he said.” admittedly avery would argue that bringing up ophelia’s name to kol at the ball was about the only reason they were alive at this moment. they were confident they could defend themselves if they had to, even if it meant staking kol a million times, but fee? they worried about fee. they worried a lot, because she was willing to sacrifice so much at her own damn expense, and avery hated that just as much as they admired it.
Fee couldn’t roll her eyes any more. “God, Avery. I’m not a child. He teaches me magic, I do magic for him. It’s simple and logical.” She swallowed hard. “Why? Because they hurt people? Because they lie? Well, guess what? I’ve done it and I’ve done it WORSE.” Tears threatened her eyes, but she’d spent so much time crying in the last twenty-four hours, she refused to cry anymore. “So if you want me to stay away from Kol, be prepared for me to be something TERRIBLE. Something I spent every second of my life trying to avoid but can never escape from.” She closed her eyes and sucked in a breath. “I’ll keep him away from you. Just... stay away from him—even me if you have to.” It stung her even more to say it, but Avery was right. They weren’t safe from Kol’s wrath. Fee had to keep it herself, even if that meant telling Avery to get away from her. No one was dying on her watch.

Oliver nodded in understanding, finding someone like them was near impossible at the very least, even more so in his case. “That’s usually the sordid tale of our kind.” He referred to them as one regardless because she was still more like him than anyone else he had ever met. They were abominations among monsters. That’s how the world would always view them and it took until his maker came along for him to realized there were rare exceptions. A brow quirked up before he shook his head. “No, I am a freak… but it has nothing to do with being born a siphoner.” He smirked, willing to own the title his own family had tried to scorn him with. “Yes. As far as I’ve known only our kind can retain our abilities after being turned. So you’re right about that — we are better off.”
She laughed bitterly. “Good to hear I’m not the only one... Man, I can’t believe people love so conditionally.” Actually, she could. She’d seen it time and time again. It wasn’t all that shocking to her anymore. “Fair enough,” she said gently. “That’s... well it’s good to know.” Fee rubbed the back of her neck. “I had a recent sort of brush with death. A friend of mine offered his blood to heal me but—” she bit her lip, “if I died and came back without my powers? It’d be like was dead anyway, I wouldn’t have the only reason I’m still around.”

“Are we?” He asked raising his eyebrow with that smirk on his face which tended to be wither very charming or incredibly annoying. Possibly both, “Because it hasn’t seemed like that for the last few weeks. I’m not sure i’m the one you need to be reminding love. Although it does seem more that you’re trying to convince yourself.” He took a step towards her, licking his lips. “I don’t doubt for a second that there are plenty of people we could sleep with. But I’m not talking to any of them am I?
She coldly handed him the bottle. “You’re the intolerable flirt, so yeah you do need reminding.” She dipped her head to the side. “I still have a few bruises that remind me plenty.” She forced a cool smile on her face. “Not at this moment. But I’m sure you can call Violet up any second and have her.” She stood. “Thanks for the drink, but we’re not going to do any magic right now in a bar, so we’re good.” She couldn’t get sucked back in again. This was toxic. She was toxic, especially around him.

his gaze somewhat narrowed as a smirk pulled at his features. despite how long it had been it still seemed that ophelia hadn’t lost her fiery streak. not that he expected anything different as it probably would’ve been somewhat disappointing. “am i supposed to thank you for that? because that’s definitely not going to happen,” he joked in a lighthearted manner. “well, yeah. that’s exactly what your supposed to do red. that’s what any rational person would’ve done…but then again you were never all the rational to begin with so…” he said with a shrug as humor still lined his features. “i see you haven’t changed.”
“I mean maybe you should,” she continued to tease him. It felt natural and easy, which considering the amount of time that had past since they were last together, she thought it rather impressive. “Neither were you, that’s why we had no friends.” Fee had long accepted her loneliness, it was just nice to know it didn’t run as deep as she thought. She shook her head. “Neither have you.” She let out a short laugh. “What have you been up to for the last... decade? Did you end up sticking school through? I skipped out before I could even get to high school.” She shrugged.

the night had managed to become the second worst of Benny’s entire life. every part of his body ached from the transformation he hadn’t anticipated and the rest of the night’s events. his mind spun and all he could see when he closed his eyes was blood. he had no idea how long he’d been wondering around the woods, only that it had been long enough for him to steal a blanket to cover his now bruised and bloodied body and for him to find his way back to the tent. he sat inside for a long time, curled into a ball as he sobbed until there were no tears left in his body. eventually he had exhausted himself so much that he fell asleep. some time later he woke to a sound and immediately sat up to see his sister. or at least she had once been his sister. now he wasn’t sure he recognized her at all. without speaking he looked away from her and curled back up into his ball.

twice. TWICE she had failed him, she thought as she found him back in the tent. “Benny,” she gushed immediately. Fee closed the little space between them. Her fingers moved to the blanket instinctively. Normally, she’d get in and cuddle with him. However, she felt stuck in that moment. Shocked. The way he looked reminded her exactly of herself a little less a week before. Tortured. “Oh Benny.” Her eyes welled up. “I’m so sorry. I know I was late. I spent all night looking—” she bit her lip. That was a lie. She hadn’t spent all night, but that was her plan. “Please, let me heal you. I-I can help.”

“no! don’t even say that. now is not the time to worry about benny. you’re not going to die! it’s going to heal you! drink it, fee! please.”
“Tay, I’m not going to die. I’m just exhausted. But I mean it. I’d rather die than be unable to help Benny. I can’t watch him suffer. Just... don’t let him find me okay.”

ALTHOUGH HER INITIAL REACTION TOOK HIM A BIT OFF GUARD, upon doing a double-take it seemed that he was in fact the one in the wrong and she was definitely that same girl that he knew back in the day when things were simpler. at least for him. not entirely sure how to react to her overall bluntness, the male laughed as he absently rubbed the back of his neck. “i don’t really have a reason to lie about that so no,” he said with partial humor amid her disbelief. though they weren’t around one another for all that long in the grand scheme of things, as a kid it didn’t seem that way. maybe that was why she was one of the few that stuck out to him in his memories. “it’s good to see you too red.” it felt weird saying it after all these years, however he couldn’t really see himself calling her anything else. “though if that’s an apology for all those months of poking fun at me, i’m not sure i can accept it. after all, i still carry the emotional scars,” he said lacking any seriousness in his tone.
She was floored. It truly felt as if she might be seeing a ghost. There was no confirmation that he had been real to anyone except her. He’d become an idle reminder of her childhood loneliness, but even more so, as a method of which she’d used to cope. Ophelia, despite blurting out the first thought that had come to her mind, didn’t know what to say. No one had called her red since, well, since River. She blurted out laughter in much the same fashion as her speech. She stopped herself but continued to stare. “I just—I…” She shook her head. “I mean, of course, I’m not sorry. Some had to toughen you up.” She shrugged her shoulder. “Besides, what else was I suppose to do? Be nice to you?” She shook her head and frowned. “Seems fake,” she teased. River had felt like the footprints in Fee’s mind that needed to be filled—and later were by Benny. Having the genuine confirmation that River was real felt more startling than learning vampires were real.

AN OVERWHELMING FEELING OF GUILT FLOODED HER SYSTEM as she listened to fee. part of her felt inherently guilty that she she had allowed herself to become so attached to her, especially considering the recent revelations that mai has learned about herself. part of her knew she should tell her but the other part wanted things to go on as they were. after all, ophelia already had enough to worry about, so maybe it was for the best. plus she didn’t need her trying to find some magical cure. no pun intended. “thanks” she said with a manufactured smile as she gave a small nod. “it’ll be fine, i promise that off all things my lack of attendance wont be the thing that will leave you without a coven.” soon it seemed the well-crafted smile seemed to falter as she looked over towards ophelia. “just..don’t get yourself hurt again fee. i may be a hard ass but i don’t like seeing you hurt.”
Fee thought about letting it slide. But, she couldn’t help the worry that crept over her. “What else would leave me without you?” she asked, somewhat naively. There were questions better left unanswered or even unasked, but Ophelia wasn’t always delicate about them. She didn’t want her friend to be hurt. After the recent experience she had, she was more protective of the people she cared about. The red-head nodded. “I promise as long as you promise.” She pursed her lips. “I’m dead inside, but not so much that I don’t notice you hurting too.”

supcrnaturally:
avery’s face contorted with anger and confusion; perhaps it was their own fault that this had escalated in a matter of seconds, but as far as they were concerned, they had every right to be upset. shaking their head, avery almost didn’t know how to respond because they were frustrated and angry and surprised. “fee, oh my god. listen to yourself! this is who you were kissing yesterday. he knocked me out and left me outside! i can’t go anywhere, because he is going to kill me.” it wasn’t registering in avery how this was even a fight at all, how ophelia couldn’t see their issue with the situation. “but yeah, clearly i’m fine because he’s such a nice guy to let me keep breathing. if that’s what you think, maybe you’re right, it was a stupid idea.”
Fee immediately felt protective of her decisions. Yeah, she was kissing him, so what? He was also the reason she was tortured. She was getting the picture everyone was trying to paint—she wasn’t blind. Or maybe she was. Isn’t that what people said about love? Ophelia didn’t care. She was moving out of it, she had to. “I’m not defending him and he’s not my boyfriend! He’s my nothing! He teaches me about magic, that’s all! And considering I’ve never met another person who knows that much about magic and actually can be around me without me accidentally almost killing them, yeah okay it’s been nice.” Ophelia wanted to scream. If her throat wasn’t still sore from all the screaming she’d done last night she probably would have. She took a deep breath and huffed. Her eyes were stinging. “He’s not going to kill you. As much as you probably don’t believe it right now, I wouldn’t let him do that. But next time, don’t go challenging forces you can’t hope to compete with. Mikaelson. Avoid the name.”

fixatiions:
Oliver frowned at her initial reaction, wondering if she was intentionally being insulting or if she was just stupid. Thankfully, it turned out to be neither. “Brother?” He asked, always curious about the notion of family since he had never truly had one of his own.Shrugging, he tugged at a lock of his curly hair, thinking over the question. “It’s liberating. Perhaps I am still the freak people see me as but I am not weak. There’s also very few like me so a rare creature, I am.” He smirked, boastfully proud of that fact.
Ophelia nodded. “Not by blood or anything—he’s nothing like…me.” She wanted to say them, but she wasn’t exactly like him either. “We just sort of found each other. He’s the only thing I’ve ever understood as family.” She shrugged. “Not wanted by my birth parents or anyone up until Benny.” Ophelia thought about it. It would be so much more help if she didn’t have to wait every month for Benny to change just so she could get some magic pumping in her veins. And Kol? Well, she was trying to phase that out as much as possible. “You’re not a freak,” she pressed firmly. “You’re smart. And frankly, better off.” Fee thought about it, but couldn’t rationalize it for herself. “Is it because there are not as many witches like us?” Abominations from birth, she thought bitterly.

silence – slowly dragging out the quiet before he takes her hand in his own. firm grasp for the skinny male he is. his suspicion confirms when he feels nothing. no zing or zap of magic. damn, he could go for a magic boost right about now. ❛ you tell me, fee. or should i say siphon fee. has a sort of ring to it. ❜ the devilish smile reappears on his face.
JUST ONE TOUCH. If he really was a witch, she was about to find out. But nothing came. She yanked her hand away from him and took a step back. “Not so magically gifted yourself are you, Kai?” She narrowed his eyes. “Either you’re like me or you’re about to find yourself in trouble.” It was an empty threat. She was just learning things thanks to Kol. Maybe she could do something to scare him off, but it would be a risk. Still, she maintained her straight face, glaring at him.
