Shaking his head, “Marlowe really needs to be more conscientious. Does he not realize I grew up in Texas with a gun in my hand?” The three all brought their strengths to their partnership and Landon or Liam had no clue how to talk about the law side of things. Shaking his head, “probably passed out in his room, like usual?” Landon offered to his half brother as the elevator doors opened, leading them to the walk way towards the VIP pool. He dialed Marlowe’s number again, but heard his voicemail message instead of his brother’s voice, “Call me back, Marlowe,” he said, leaving the stern message for him to hear. Squinting as the pair walked outside, “you got to be kidding me,” he spotted security yelling at a suit clad figure, floating around the pool, “two birds, one stone?” He asked Liam, as they found the person who broke into VIP and their brother simultaneously.

There was a roar of sound in one of his ears, but it seemed to bring Marlowe back into sleep the moment it subsided. It was louder than the yelling that reached his left ear, a sound he had grown to ignore from having brothers and sisters yelling about. The sound flooded his ears until he realized he was actually wet, and the small turn he gave had knocked the floatie completely off the surface of the water. He submerged immediately, a short frantic glance as his eyes fluttered open to land on his brothers. 

Sputtering, Marlowe stood upright in the pool. He had stumbled onto the property in the early hours of the morning. “I came early to make sure I wouldn’t miss it,” He said, cursing himself under his breath. He patted his pockets to find his phone, the screen twinkling its final goodbye before water damage over took it. “For fuck’s sake. Did it start yet— is it over? Tell me nothing was signed yet.”

“Seriously?” The words came out of his mouth before he could fully process that his brother was the one causing all the conflict at the pool. Of course it was. Quickly he dialed the front desk, shaking his head as the line rang and his brother regained consciousness. “Yeah, it’s me. No, tell them it’s fine he’s actually permitted to be here, they don’t need to worry about it.” 

“Passed out was correct, but our location was only a little off.” He huffed, stepping closer to get a look at Marlowe across on of the pool floats. “The meeting was downstairs, why the hell were you waiting for us at the pool?” He questioned with a shake of his head. “You’re lucky Landon and I have a small sense of what’s going on, but we needed you. You missed the meeting by two hours, we couldn’t sign anything without you. You’re the legal eyes. Please tell me how you ended up asleep up here?” He grabbed on to the end of the float, holding it steady by the corner of the pool. “Landon and I were on a wild goose chase wondering where the hell you’ve been. I guess we should be happy you managed to put on a suit that matched.”

Ximena​ slipped her hands into the pockets of her jeans, staring out the window as she chewed on her lower lip. “Do you think this will be like every event that happens here in Fallbrook?” He lifted his eyes up towards the male by her, turning around to walk over towards him. “Where we spend months healing and when we are suddenly in a good place… it happens all over again.”

Liam shrugged, his gaze following hers out the window as he thought over her question. “I’m hoping that everything will stay normal for a while before the next disaster hits, not sure how good hope is with things that happen out of the blue.” He looked into her eyes, giving her a small smile. “It’s something to keep me from going crazy wondering, how do you feel about all of this?”

The earthquake had come and gone, but it had delivered so much damage and destruction. Everyone had been touched by it in some way: injured, suffering from trauma, or worse. They were lucky there were as few deaths as there were given how bad the destruction had been. Calla wasn’t untouched but she had gotten lucky. After the light post fell on her and the two managed to get her out, Calla had broken one of her legs. The pain had been extreme in the moment, but she would walk away after she healed. Her leg was broken, but it would heal and she would be fine. It was more than others could say. She’d been given some time off after the earthquake during the worst of her pain, but now she as back at work. Calla could see Bethel’s from the bench, but she was on her break. Her leg in the cast was stretched out in front of her. Signs of the damage were still evident as she glanced around the main street. A shadow paused over her and Calla glanced up at her new companion. “I wonder how long it will take until all the damage is cleaned up.” She mused lightly and looked down the street. 

“It’s weird seeing everything like this.” The pier was going to take some time to get back to functional condition, it was something that Liam still found himself needing to get used to when he walked by. “Everything’s gone back to normal and still there’s one thing missing.” He told her softly, bringing his cup of coffee to his lips as his gaze noticed the cast around her leg. “I assume the new normal will involve a lot of construction...at least for now. How are you holding up with everything?”

“Honestly, I’m surprised we pulled that off.” Talking about the law side of things wasn’t ideally something Liam liked to do, which is why Marlowe’s addition to the partnership was so important. Together Landon and himself could hold their own, but there was no denying the undeniable force of their trio being complete. They were truly able to capitalize on their strengths, usually, but this meeting wasn’t the case. “Where the hell is he? He knew we had a meeting today, I personally made sure it was in his calendar. Try ringing him again, will you?” Liam shook his head as he pressed the up arrow button on the side of the Archer elevator. During their meeting they received a complaint about someone sneaking up to the VIP pool and though Marlowe was a priority he was going to have to wait.

CHARACTER HISTORY

Imogen Davies and James Archer met in London, England and it was an affair that was meant to only last a night instead it would result in an agreement that would last 18 years and change her life forever. Liam Archer lived a quaint life in London until the day he turned twelve. A quiet life was suddenly prompted with so many questions the day his mother sat him down and told him he was owed more than the hand life had dealt him. He found out that the man who had been absent all his life thus far was alive, well, and present for other children in his life. Liam wasn’t the only exception to this, however. His father had more than just one child out there who had been a mistake in his affairs with other women, and one scorned woman in particular had fed his mother the courage to not only get her son recognized beyond the child support she had but tell his father’s wife of his doings. A trip to America, organized by none other than the mother of his half brother Marlowe, would be more than just a mission but a permanent move after he was recognized as an Archer child. He settled on something quaint like home but with more promise, specifically Fallbrook, where he would use all of the resources his mother fought so hard for him to have.

At twenty-three, Liam graduated from North Carolina Chapel Hill with a Masters in Business Administration. He celebrated with new and old people, and one man in particular who he had known at a distance for quite some time; his half brother and claimed son, Landon Archer. A celebration for his own graduation left Liam and Landon discussing their ambitions and soon enough the boys were in business. Landon provided all of the creativity with a talent for attainable dreams, and Liam provided the careful eye to put them into action. Together, the brothers opened the Archer Hotel in 2016 and expanded it in the last few years to make it one of the most luxurious spots for hospitality and relaxation in the city.

PRESENT DAY

As a businessman in the realm of hospitality, Liam knows how to use his charm but knows his humble beginnings. He remains a man of action and integrity which allows him to excel as a hotel owner but he has darken intentions with the building. It isn’t just a getaway for his guests, but a fund for a getaway if things ever go south.
