The sunlight flooded into the room and Galahad blinked as it hit him, eyes adjusting slowly from the sudden change. When they did adjust, he watched the older mage by the window. The light changed his face, added more warmth and perhaps the ghost of patience. Or acquiescence. He stood still until told otherwise, not wanting to annoy the man further.
When prompted. Galahad strode forward, rounding the desk to stand where he was told. He tried not to look at Relorviez, keeping his gaze forward as he neared the glass.
It was hard not to say what he saw, disconnect from the senses that guided his life. He would smell the freshness of spring, the vibrance of the green trees and the clouds that moved softly across the sky.
"I feel," Galahad started, his eyes blinking. "I feel the wind on my skin even when I know its not there. A hum, just at the back of my head. The itch of nature that begs for it to be touched. I feel small and lost, but...content." Galahad let out a quiet breath, watching, face kissed by the sunlight through the window.
Perhaps the younger man was used to charming his way out of things.. or, at least, used to his smile improving a situation. Relorviez, however, seemed immune to his charm.
Seemed.
The mage took a breath and stepped away from his desk, instead walking to the big window of his study. The curtains were half closed, and he now pulled them open. The sight outside was rather serene; fields of grass and wild flowers, the forest in the distance, the sun halfway across the sky, soon to near the horizon and welcome the afternoon.
"Come. I want you to stand here." Relorviez pointed to where he stood, right in front of the window, then stepped aside. "And don't look at me. Forget I'm here. Gaze outside, and you'll then tell me what you feel. Not what you see, mind you. Do you understand?"

Arthur was no fool. He knew the ways in which Henry looked at him. Knew the looks that were given, and the want for proximity. Arthur was also no priest or monk, no celibate man of god and no saint. He returned the ardor. Arthur was older, but no stranger to affections and affairs. He was glad Henry had sought him out, maybe even subconsciously had wandered off just so that he would.
He couldn't help the same sort of blush on his pale cheeks. Reaching up he rubbed the back of his neck as they walked. Henry was so effortlessly charming. "Well we will have to make the most of it." Arthur's eyes shone, his tone a promise. A laugh left him, echoing gently through the trees. "How scandalous. What would the court think when they hear of the king found in a glad asleep with a foreign prince?" Arthur raised an eyebrow his expression curious and not worried, as if he invited it.
He lead henry along, just a short walk, maybe ten minutes away from the camp. They broke through the trees and came upon a glade, mostly shaded as the night crept closer, and the sprites were out, their wings glowing, as tiny as flies. "Do not worry of them, they are harmless." Arthur smiled at Henry, flickering lights from the fairies washing over both of them. Arthur found a patch of plush grass, as if made for two bodies, and sat down, gesturing for Henry to join him before he began to unlace his boots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A smile appeared on Henry's face that matched the one that Arthur was beaming at him. It was hard to not feel at ease in the other's presence, which was something that Henry was not used to, not with the other royals that he had met. They were all angry, dull, or full of desires of their own selfishness. They were nothing like the two men that were standing together now, maybe it was the first thing that drew Henry in, the way that Arthur carried himself. The crown didn't weigh heavily on his head as it did most; it seemed to fit perfectly in place.
A blush rose to his cheeks when Arthur mentioned how romantic it was as well, had he somehow read the thoughts that raced through Henry's mind, or was he just speaking in a general sense, or maybe he was taking Henry there because it was romantic. Thoughts raced through the prince's mind, thoughts that he had to close his eyes for a moment to quiet them down. "I cannot imagine a better place to be with you tonight than," said Henry simply, letting the words hang in the still night air.
"You mean to think they have lost you, and a visiting prince would be quite humorous, I think we should just do it. Stay in the glade tonight, just us and have the searching for us in the morning," said Henry with a smirk, biting his bottom lip at his other thoughts of just getting to be alone with Arthur.

For as much as Arthur was a king, he was also a man. He had been divinely chosen, by the God in heaven and by the magic things that walked the earth. Circumstances tossed together, a crown upon his head. But he had not left his humility and boyishness aside. Not entirely. He liked the way henry approached him, not reverent or tightly wound, but friendly. It made him warm behind the ears, made him smile.
"Alright then," Arthur beamed stepping away from his horse. He had doffed his armor earlier in the evening. Was now just clad in his linen shirt, pants, and dirty boots. "It shall be a spectacular evening then, they are quite a sight. Romantic, even." Arthur offered, gesturing Henry to follow as he turned, keeping pace with the other man. "It is quite relaxing." Arthur agreed. "I am sure we will not be missed. Wine has dulled the senses of my knights. We could be gone all night." Arthur looked over. "And I amused at the idea of my men's frantic search for us in the morning." Arthur's shoulder knocked against Henry's lightly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Henry couldn't help but smile when Arthur apologized for his men; it was something the man didn't have to do, but the fact that he did made his heart ache even more. Arthur was someone he dreamed about when he closed his eyes in his chambers. He knew if his father ever said his name when he was trying to marry him off, he would never say no. The issue was that Henry didn't know anything about his preferences or even if he could marry a man and still be king.
The prince shook the thoughts from his head and gave a gentle smile to the other. "I would love to go for a walk with you, Arthur. To see the fairy lights dancing has been a desire of mine for a while now," said Henry softly as he looked down at the hand that fell from the horse, wishing it would take his hand in it. "Maybe if need be, the glade could be a quiet place for us to fall asleep as well."

Galahad was not ignorant of the expression on the mage's face. He could see and sense the tensions on it, knew that perhaps this was the last thing Relorviez wanted to do. After all, he had sauntered in here, sat down and all but told the older man what he was going to do. It made him feel a little sheepish, like a brat prince, which Galahad certainly was not.
The young man watched as the mage stood up and Galahad mirrored him, standing from his seat as if the lesson had already started. It was the knightly training in him, mirroring and following along. "If it isn't too much trouble. No better day than today, right?" Galahad offered with a little smile, hoping his charm would defuse the tension.
"I can, yes. I do quite a bit of the former." Galahad was a bookworm, of sorts, but mostly novels of stories and folklore, epic sagas, sometimes histories. "I have no issues with study, even into the evenings." Galahad nodded firmly, standing at attention.
With Galahad so eager, (or anxious), to begin, who would Relorviez be to turn down someone who wished to learn the ways of the arcane? To dabble in the intricate web of magic?
He would have liked to turn Galahad down, please, make no mistake.. but Galahad, and every single one of his family members, were important people. No matter how stubborn the mage might be, he knew not to get on the wrong side of certain families.
After all, the arcane was a.. touchy subject, for many. One wrong step, one well written speech on the evil of the arcane, and every spell caster would be hunted down. Even an arrogant fool like himself knew that much.
Clearing his throat, and his head of such dooming thoughts, he rose to his feet. "We could begin now, if that is what you wish." The older man's gaze had lessened in its skepticism, becoming something a little less.. hostile. Gentle wasn't the right word, though.
"I assume you're able to read and write? Far from necessary to learn the basics of how to weave the arcane, but.. if your family wishes for you to become skillful, further studying would be required."

Fail. The word felt like ice down his spine. Galahad's hands clenched on his thighs, a subtle shift of muscle. Of course he was. His father was Lancelot, one of Arthur's greatest knights. Failure was something he was acutely aware of, always haunting the edges of his mind. Galahad simply nodded at Relorviez's question, shifting in his seat. Thankfully, the mage moved on from the topic and Galahad softened, warm dark eyes looking up at the older man.
"I would imagine," Galahad's eyes shifted down to Relorviez's hands, as if the mage were about to conjure then and there. "I assure you, ser, that I am more than capable of control." A little smirk pulled at the side of his lips, looking back up at the mage's face. "Most of the time." His words honeyed for a moment, charm shining through. His expression shifted to that of apprehension. "Shall we start today? Unless you'd need to prepare?"
Tumblr media
No. No, Galahad was no child, but perhaps Relorviez had feared he would act like one. Instead, he admitted to his fears, if one could call it that. That the arcane had never spoken to him because he found it.. intimidating. Most did. It was a wild thing, if not handled correctly.
The mage's fingers tapped absentmindedly at the edge of his fine desk. "Are you afraid you'll fail?" Perhaps it was duty and obligation that weighed on the younger man, more than anything else.
"Magic is a very.. personal thing. Intimate, if you will. If your mind isn't clear, neither will your control of it be. It requires more than to just.. wave one's hands around and hope that it works." The mage gestured as he sat there, brown eyes never leaving Galahad.

Arthur knew Henry. Not totally well, except for the past few days. The younger man kept up, was eager to join in, and Arthur found that admirable. He found himself quite fond of his new friend. Arthur smiled, watching Henry as he moved closer and pat the horse, his eyes watching the man's hands and then flickering to his face. "Ah yes, some of them can get that way." Arthur replied sheepishly. "As chivalrous as they are most of the time, well, wine and mead can shed that veneer." Arthur looked down at his dirty boots, feeling a little responsible for his knights.
When Henry said he could leave, Arthur looked up and shook his head. "No, I am glad for the company." Arthur smiled, looking at Henry. "Did you want to take a walk, maybe? Get away from the noise? I know of a glade nearby. The fairy lights should be shining soon." Arthur offered, his hand falling from his horse's neck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Henry truly didn't know why he had walked to follow Arthur; he knew that he should have stayed back around the fire with the others. This was meant to be a fun trip to help Arthur and himself forget about the worries of the titles that each of them held. His father had sent the prince here to become more of a man, but the only thing that he had done was form a crush on Arthur, a crush he was too fearful to admit out loud, but maybe the mead was giving him a bravery that he didn't know existed within himself.
He nodded to the other as he moved closer, his hand finding its way to the horse and giving it a few pats before turning his attention to Arthur. "Aye, some of your men were getting a little merry that I wanted from them in the moment and wanted to check on you", spoke Henry softly as a blush rose more to his cheeks. "If you wanted to be alone, I can leave you. I didn't want to interrupt"

arthur & mythverse open to: knights, court members, friends, lovers, all! location: the hunting forests around camelot
Tumblr media
A hunt. That's what he'd needed. To unload the burden of a crown from his head and get into the muck and dirt. The woods were fragrant with spring growth, pungent and sharp. The trees were a bright emerald green and the sky was turning the lovely shade it did as the sun went down, reminding Arthur of plates of peeled stone fruits; reds and oranges and peaches, tainted with dark blue.
They had made camp a few hours ago, and a feast of the boar they had felled had been had. Wine had been passed around and stories told to raucous laughter and wistful songs. But Arthur had found himself weary of the fire and or so many voices, so the king had wandered off and now fed his horse oats from a burlap bag. "Atta boy," Arthur said in a low voice, his hand strong the windswept mane. Motion caught his senses, and Arthur looked up, blue eyes catching the other who'd appeared. "Hail." He nodded, face stoic. "Have you tired of the noise and merriment as well?"

"Obligation sounds so...pointed." Galahad thought a moment, rolling the idea around in his mind. "I'd say duty. Ever the good knight." He flashed a white smile, his handsome features beaming for a moment as he looked across at the mage. "I am no child, and I assure you I am prepared to dedicate myself to your studious hands." His voice was firm. Galahad was young, but he hated not being taken seriously.
Galahad sat up in his chair, as if posture could prove his determination alone. "My father sent me. Lancelot. We are knights of Arthur's table, as you surely know." Galahad's tone was not boastful but factual. Direct. "But if you want honesty, I am perhaps a little apprehensive. The ways of magic are intimidating." His voice lowered, his shoulders falling slightly.
Tumblr media
The younger man's mood hadn't gone unnoticed. How he slammed the doors shut like he'd rather be anywhere else, how he spoke of magic as if it wasn't even worth his time. To him, it seemed, this was all just another task to please his superiors.. Advisors or otherwise.
Clearing his throat, Relorviez' brow furrowed. "So you're here on obligation? The arcane isn't easy. It isn't child's play, and it certainly doesn't come to one who doesn't respect it." The older man's gaze was firm, far from the welcoming eyes one might have hoped from a teacher in something so foreign to oneself.
"I'd like to know who sent you here. Your advisor? Or perhaps this was your very own idea, hm? That's why you seem so.. utterly elated to begin."

Galahad stood in the threshold of the doorway, the door shutting behind him with a echo. He had thrust it closed perhaps a little too hard. Annoyance was etched on his face until the pulled himself together, dark eyes shining as he appraised the mage. "I have been instructed to learn some lesser magics from you, Ser Relorviez." The younger man nodded his head and walked closer. "I have never cast before. Such arcane things have never been by taste. I was raised to wield sword and shield." He sat down at the mage's table, unasked, moving with confidence and assuredness. "I've heard you're one of the best around. And I need the best."
Tumblr media
Character: Relorviez (FtM), skilled mage, arrogant asshole, in denial homosexual, age 42, a submissive and whiny thing in bed.
Connection (m if romantic/smut): Person he's attempting to teach, an old friend, a superior mage, anything that might fit!
Setting: Medieval fantasy, Relorviez' study.
Tumblr media
"Well, isn't that something?" The mage scoffed as he caught sight of them, skeptical gaze roaming across them. "Can I help you? Given the look on your face, I assume you're here for my aid."
He cocked an eyebrow, setting his chalice onto his (rather crowded) desk. Books and papers lay strewn across the tabletop, indicating that he had been studying before your arrival. That man never did rest.. And at times, his grumpy mood made that apparent.
