Carol noticed the confusion on his face right away, quite honestly she was confused for herself. Her baby blue hues gazed back into his brown eyes. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have just shown up like this.” The brunette sighed and wiped the tears from her eyes. “Truth is, you’re the only person that makes me happy.”
Ward simply stares as he looks into the eyes of the woman who was standing on his doorstep in the rain. He doesn’t hesitate and he doesn’t pause even a bit as he opens up the door for Carol to come in as he looks into her eyes. “What are you doing here Carol? Why are you out inn the rain? Get in here already.” Ward motioned for her to step in even as his milk chocolate colored eyes showed confusion.

She was a hot mess, standing outside of his door in the pouring rain. Hoping that he’d be home. Getting over Hal hadn’t been an easy process, but having someone like Grant in her life definitely helped. However, it just happened to be one of those days, and Carol was an emotional wreck. Mascara ran down her face, and the rain didn’t help. She was soaked.

She buried her face against his chest and sobbed softly in his arms. Carol was tough, but nothing could prepare someone for an attack. The woman was terrified and defenseless when the man was holding a knife to her neck. For all she knew, that could have been it for her right then and there. Her body was still shaking, flashbacks flooded her head. “I can’t believe that just happened. How can a man put their hands on a woman like that? It’s disgusting.”
Hal took a breath, attempting to calm himself – it didn’t work. But the words ‘please, don’t leave me alone’ were ringing in his head and he knew he had a duty to stay – he wouldn’t dare leave her like this.
He sat down next to her, pulling her into his chest.
“I’m not going anywhere, Carol.”

“Just a bullet wound? Grant, I need to take you to the hospital, this is crazy!” Panicked eyes gaze into his, searching for his sanity as he makes a big situation seem only minor. He was shot, for crying out loud. “Who did this?”
