Thank you, I'll give a little bit :) I have many OCs. I tend to make one for each longform story I write. (I also play D&D so each campaign gets its own character, but that's out of the scope of this post!) They dictate what the story is about, as I enjoy taking characters and putting them against concepts or characters in fandom and see how they change.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Imogen Forsythe: (Bloodborne, from my A Doll's House.) Late 40s/early 50s housewife-mother-turned-Hunter. She's never done so much as fight back against her abusive husband but in the story she not only kills beasts but falls in love with Micolash. I love her because she's got that mom body and trained desire to serve/please others, and yet with Micolash she must focus on herself and what makes her feel good -- even though Micolash traps her in Mensis in the first place. Morgan Elliot: (Bloodborne, from A Contract of Flesh and Blood.) Mid 20s street urchin picked up by Gehrman and taught to be a hunter. Very focused on the visceral, immediate things in life - profanity, drinking, and especially sex. She sleeps with damn near everyone at Byrgenwerth but can't seem to commit. A business deal with Micolash forces her to remain with him when she wants to leave... and yet a dark, submissive part of her is itched when they're together. Rickard Musgrove: (Baldur's Gate 3, from The Vampire Ascendant's Wife.) He is a young human, 19 or 20, with short but not too short brown hair and eyes. His desire to please his dead father has him wind up in the service - and almost hyperfixating - on two very old vampires with troubled pasts. How is he going to balance the education of the poets and the past with feelings of love, lust, and betrayal? Is there life after Astarion Ancunin and his wife Taviana (Tav)? I have some pictures but mostly they are reference pictures or just silly doodles.

I'll try to sell my beloved original characters more. I love them because a part of me is in each one, and I hope other people love them too.

Should I talk about my OCs? Do people care? I love them but I have so many vs 1 or 2 I don't want to throw people off.

I'm gonna respond to this with the first song that came to my head: Grand Funk Railroad's I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home).

2007. I'm working my first job out of college. Signs of a recession are imminent. I'm hundreds of miles away from my boyfriend. I live in a tiny apartment with my mom and brother. I have no idea what I'm gonna do with this super expensive degree I just earned and have to pay for.

And then I hear it, playing over the speakers. A small phrase but so strangely out of place in the way it captured me that I had to stop what I was doing and listen.

Am I in my cabin dreaming, or are you really scheming

To take my ship away from me?

You'd better think about it, I just can't live without it

So, please don't take my ship from me

I don't know what it means, or if it had any meaning other than being cool. But for a second I wasn't a minimum wage retail worker. I was a captain, pleading for the universe to let me have my ship.

Yeah, sex is great and all, whatever, but have you ever listened to a really good song that has a part that makes you transcend reality ?

Just a reminder that 'The Vampire Ascendant's Wife' was partially inspired by me reading Dracula and realizing how I wanted to see Jonathan Harker and Dracula kiss.

You are a guest in a castle you have never been in before (you recognize every hallway and know without trying that every door is locked). Your host is a man you have never met before (you killed him you killed him you killed him he had turned to dust and there was blood on the snow).

One morning you cut yourself while shaving.

There is nobody behind you in the pocket mirror’s reflection.

You turn fast, and the razor is like a Kukri knife in your hand.

Guys. I can feel it already. THIS is the year. This is the year that Jonathan Harker will go on his business trip with no issue. Just a lovely train ride through Europe where he collects paprika recipies for Mina, meets some friendly, living people looking to buy properties in England, and then returns home safely.

The BG3 Appreci-May-tion Event

Oftentimes, love and support from others means the world to people. Knowing someone else appreciates and values one's work can be an incredible boost for inspiration, motivation, and passion. Yet, sometimes, those works aren't given the love they deserve.

That's why we've decided to make an event to appreciate other fandom creatives!

Using daily prompts for the month of May, we're hosting an event to write or draw for other people's characters. Whether it be a Tav, Durge, OC, or even a reader character set in a specific universe, we're encouraging you to show your love for other creators with some appreciation. Since there are plenty of smaller, less appreciated creatives out there, we do highly encourage you to write or draw for a creator with smaller works - but any works are welcome.

Below, you will find all the prompts for the month, which you can use to create a story or a piece of art. When the day comes for the corresponding prompt, post your work! Please be sure to link to the original fic you're taking from!
