The idea that anyone could understand was hard for Link to piece together in his head. As far as he was aware, he woke up and someone called him by the name Link. While something in his gut recognized the voice calling out to him, begging him to remember, he did not truly know who was speaking to him.

All he was certain of was a mission. And so far, nobody he’s met knew him. It was just as the old man had said. ❝ Everyone who knew me is dead. ❞

It was the first thing he thought and the first thing he said as a result. ❝ Every new memory is in the context of one person. A girl. ❞ A princess. That didn’t seem important to mention right now, however. ❝ I think she was important to me. ❞

          her heart stings for him. she can’t imagine waking up someday with no memories, no idea of how long it’s been, and no loved ones left alive to tell you anything. just a voice in the back of your head of a girl who could be important, but who could be nobody at all. the brain has a funny way of dealing with trauma, aloy certainly knows this much.

          at the very least, her whole life is not a distant memory like his. aloy‘s chest tightens― she must remember that she’s lucky. so, incredibly lucky. sure, she’s gone through many hardships. on top of the earth itself relying on her to reap the corruption from its soil, she’s had to piece together why she was ushered into this existence with no mother, no biological reason for being. she’s had to figure out who she actually is while at the same time being punished for something she doesn’t know. and with the answers to all of those questions, aloy feels whole at last. she’s very fortunate for that. link doesn’t seem to have that luxury― at least not yet.

          she hopes that he finds that wholeness someday.

          i literally cannot stress enough how incredible aloy is and how much i love her and the entire world of hzd like... the worldbuilding. the lore. the different biomes and civilizations. the machines. project zero dawn. faro & sobek. all the little text / sound files. the graphics and scenery. and don’t even get me started on how powerful, resilient, intelligent, adaptable, and kind aloy is. i’ve beaten the game like 10 times since it came out way back when and every time i return to it i fall in love all over again jldjfgkldfkdj
