In your opinion, how would things have gone if Siyeon had possessed Penelope right after she was brought to the estate rather than years later?

She could probably prevent things from going as bad as in the og timelines, but I just hate children twisting their personalities to avoid being abused. It always suggests it's the kids fault because they weren't cute or smart enought.

Frankly I think the staff would find Cha Siyeon creepy because she acts like an adult in a child's body. I feel like she'd be treated a bit like Jane Eyre. Sure, Cha Siyeon isn't throwing tauntrums like og Penelope but she has a gloomy aura surrounding her and nobody likes that around a child.

Cha Siyeon might try to commit suicide earlier because her first plan in volume one was to find Callisto quickly, trigger a death flag and press the reset button that will send her back. If she appears six years before the game starts, chances are there are no existing death flags to trigger yet and she has no patience to wait for so many years. Cha Siyeon worked so hard for years to escape her abusive family in Korea and now all her progress has been erased and she's stuck in a kid's body being patronized again. She may have been given more time to prepare herself but I think she'd feel a different brand of despair. In the current timeline she can at least remind her father that she is an adult now, in this AU where she's stuck in the body of a twelve year old, demanding to be treated like a grown-up would be considered ridiculous. She considered this the worst period of her life. At the edge of seventeen she could see the end of hell but as a twelve year old she hasn't even taken her first step.

What I think would vastly improve would be her relationship with Reynold. I suspect the reason why Reynold turned into an unruly provocative teen is because he is hungry for attention and lacked a father's firm hand in his childhood (in this case a father and mother's). Rather than acting like his missing sister, Cha Siyeon would fullfill a more maternal role. She'd set firm bounderies and rules and would punish or reward Reynold according to his behaviour. Regarding Derrick, I think Cha Siyeon might notice Derrick's attraction to her earlier and take a bit advantage of it (while internally being grossed out and insulting him in her thoughts) but without setting out to straight up seduce him (unless she were really really desperate). I think Derrick would be hard to win over because he would continuously raise expectations for her. I also think the chauvinist inside him would hate to watch the girl progress faster in her education than he did as a boy.

It would be easier to get through to the Duke. According to Otome Isekai law there are two ways to win a father over 1. pretending to be cute 2. the child genius route. Cha Siyeon would opt for the second without expecting to win his affections. She might express an interest in the Duke's business (It would not be considered too strange. Penelope had an interest in gems, the Duke owns a Diamond mine and Cha Siyeon needs money and connections). Cha Siyeon would guide the Duke through his depression. It would start slowly perhaps with her bringing him tea and bisquits, a candle at night or sorting his paperwork while giving clever advice and she'd end up helping him rule the Duchy a bit from the shadows, gaining power little by little until he fully realizes her potential.

What I would find compelling is if she attempted to get adopted by Vinter who she knows has a soft spot for orphaned children. And if she discovers she has magic sooner, even better to have a wizard as her guardian who can teach her to use her powers. The thing is I don't think Penelope would run away from the duchy had she already been adopted. Her rejection of Iklies' offer to run has given me the impression that she is already very attached to her abusers and afraid of change. She considers the Eckart estate her home even if she is hurting there.

I'm a bit unsure which ML she'd choose. Callisto is out of the picture since he's at war for the majority of her childhood/teenage years and he's too much of a wild card. I don't think she'd wait for his return and waste the years she could invest in another "safer" love interest. Iklies has not been enslaved yet. (I don't doubt it that she'd groom an eleven year old Iklies if she could buy him at the auction earlier. She's morally reprehensible enough to do it.) Derrick is well...Derrick. Why do I feel like even if her life was on the line she would not give in to him? Reynold might be the easiest target but the fact that Derrick is there and would sense if something incestuous happened under his roof makes everything more complicated. I think her target would be either Reynold or Vinter. Cha Siyeon waking up in the body of young Penelope screws up the whole romance because either she's grooming a minor or she's seducing a late teen/adult while in the body of a minor :/

About Derrick/ogPenelope I really struggle envisioning how he would enjoy spending time with her when they don't have sex. I feel like anything he'd do would just serve the purpose to make her go along with what he wants. He's either having sex with her or creating situations that will lead to her having sex with him. Derrick strikes me as a person who doesn't have hobbies because he has dedicated his entire life to his work (managing the Eckart dukedom). The only hobby that comes to my mind would be reading books and keeping a journal perhaps and even this I feel serves only the purpose to sharpen his mind and broaden his knowledge. Everything he does, he does for the sake of his family. He wants to have his father's dukedom prosper under his rule. I can't see him pursuing an hobby purely for pleasure that yields no results. He tends to watch Penelope from a distance having fun and stays close to her as if he were hoping some of her childish wonder could flow into him. I think when he sees her running into the sunshine and laughing, two feelings arise in him. One is an aching memory melting into a soft tenderness that is almost fleeting. The other is a jealousy, stabbing him sharp like a thorn, reminding that he will never be the cause of her happiness. And the third is a cruel harshness and the instinct to crush that smile beneath his boots and hurt her so badly she'll never laugh again. It is the only emotion that is strong enough to overwhelm the others.

Thoughts about Derrick x Iklies?

Not many. Something just tells me Iklies is Derrick's type that he'd be going for if he wasn't homophobic and Cha Siyeon got to him first. He's way easier to break too. Personally I prefer for prey to fight back hence why the only LI I ship him with is Callisto. I enjoy a long lovers chase :)
