Morning runs were Gideon Prewett’s alone time. He was a man constantly surrounded by people so at 4 am while the rest of the world was asleep, Gideon was running. He enjoyed how not even the first light of day encapsulated the world, and that the only sounds he could hear were his own foot steps and breathing. Every once in a while he would run into someone and with a solemn nod continue on his way. Today was no different, he had been running for two miles already without any sign of other people. He figured he’d go for another mile or so before turning back towards the gym as he was enjoying his morning. As he rounded a bend a figure came in sight ahead of him, and a set of keys lying on the ground between them. “Hey!” Gideon called out, stooping to pick up the keys before quickening his pace to catch up to the person in front of him. “Hey, sorry I think you dropped these” Gideon explained as he tapped the person on the shoulder, holding out the keys.

Casual Engagements
@ar-goddessofthunder
There weren’t many occasions that could get Gideon Prewett to dress up. He was an adult, an entrepreneur, and a pureblood but the last time Gideon wore something aside from gym wear was beyond him. What was the point? He owned a gym and spent most days there anyway, and if not then he was off playing some sort of sport, so his personal style had become synonymous with trainers and t-shirts. Dressing up to him was wearing jeans and a nicer t-shirt, one that was not emblazoned with a logo or had the sleeves ripped off of it. If he was really trying to impress then the leather jacket came out to play. Today was not a normal occasion, though, as Gideon Prewett was actually dressed properly for the first time in months.
A client of theirs was opening a new restaurant, some fancy French name that he couldn’t even pronounce, and had insisted that the Prewetts attended. Or at least one of them. It was a launch party and though Gideon always enjoyed a good party, one like this was not his first choice. However he had lost a game of rock, paper, scissors and here he was dressed in dress slacks and a button down blending him among the other uppity, rich friends of his client.
One hour, that was what he had told himself and Gideon Prewett was counting down the minutes. Conversations passed easily with acquaintances and other clients of his but he could not wait until it was appropriate for him to make his exit. Away from this party, and out of these bloody awful clothes.
While speaking about the restaurant with the owner, himself, Gideon could feel his attention diverting before it even happened. Something willing him to look up from the man he was speaking to, and when he did his eyes were met with something he had not been expecting. “Alessandra Rowle, you know her?” the man asked Gideon obviously noticing how Gideon’s eyes had traveled to the brunette who had entered the room. Taking a sip of his glass Gideon proceeded to shake his head, a comfortable smirk falling across his face, “Casually from various engagements. So what were you saying about the investors?”
It wasn’t a lie, he did know Alessandra Rowle from various engagements. Just not the ones his friend might have been thinking of. No he did not know Allie from the societal engagements she attended, nor from her work at the orphanage. But he did know her from engagements of other sorts such as coffee on the patio, drinks by the fireplace, and shared evenings in his bedroom. All very casual engagements, so technically not a lie at all.
As the man carried on about investments Gideon slid his phone from his pocket, his fingers tapping out a message while his eyes stayed trained on his conversational companion.

elizaspinnet:
Eliza couldn’t help but let a grin spread across her lips as he called her captain. Eyebrows raising, she pretended to tilt a hat towards him before moving to get to work herself, pulling out baskets from underneath the tables holding crates full of eggs. “Captain, could get used to the sound of that,” she said. “Did I ever tell you that my mum wanted to teach me how to sail when I was a kid? And I refused. I liked being in the water more than I liked being on top of it.” Her lips softened at the memory, eyes glazing over as she thought of her mother. At least her family was safe and away from the war, even though she missed seeing them more often.
Laughing a bit at his words, she held out a finger. “Alright, fine, you win. But how old is your nephew? Because I think that has to be taken into consideration. My little brother is eleven. Will be going to Hogwarts this September. I can barely believe it.” Her hair fell into her eyes as she shook her head. “He’s a great kid. The best kid, actually. I want to be a good role-model for him, ya know? Make sure I’m setting a good example. I think I might die if he gets sorted into Hufflepuff.”
A prideful smile now filled her lips but was instantly replaced by a rounded “oh” when he made the bet. Eliza was expecting the caveat. They were just friends, after all. But she couldn’t help the sinking feeling her stomach that always came with the reminder.  “Alright, Prewett, you’re on,” she said. “But I warn you, I get quite competitive. My dad took me to a football game once and I almost ran down the field when a ref made the wrong call. He had to physically restrain me.” Eliza paused, head tilting ever so slightly. “But this is for the kids. Not for us. So I promise I won’t need any physical restraints if you were, by some lucky chance, to win.”
Tumblr media
Gideon knew speaking of her family was hard on Eliza. Her mother was a muggle and with all the anti-muggle legislation being passed Gideon knew it was only stressing her out more with each passing day. Sure the rest of her family was magical, but the fact that they lived in the muggle world didn’t seem to bring poor Eliza any ease. He couldn’t imagine having to feel what she was going through, the helpless feeling of not being able to do anything to protect those you loved the most. They were both the same in that they would go to the ends of the Earth to protect their loved ones, but in times like these it was simply out of their control.
“Don’t jinx the poor kid like that” Gideon teased, gently shoving Eliza’s shoulder. “He’ll definitely be a Ravenclaw. Only the best house for him. I bet he’ll play on the quidditch team too, and he has to obviously outshine his sister. Which won’t be hard if he’s in Ravenclaw because Hufflepuff might be subpar at best with their quidditch team during a good year” he joked knowing full well he was starting a war. It was his favorite thing to get under her skin and watch her puff up with that Hufflepuff pride. It was something that he wished he could have known at Hogwarts. With her only being slightly younger than him they’d obviously played against each other on numerous occasions but neither had any memory of the other.
As Gideon gathered his eggs ready to hide them he simply nodded at her story. “Bring it, Spinnet” he smirked pulling the basket off the table, and with that Gideon was off to hide his eggs. A few minutes later he returned empty basket in hand to where they originally started, “I’m fairly confident that there’s no way you can beat me in this game. You can give in now if you’d like, save yourself the embarrassment later”.

ar-goddessofthunder:
Alessandra said nothing as his hand moved to her knee, the warmth from it making her feel more at ease than she had originally expected. She offered him a small smile as he squeezed it and she let out a small breath. To be frank, Allie had been through the wringer of late and she knew that it would continue for now. Things often got worse before they got better. She took another sip of her coffee as she looked over at Gideon, her back straight, posture one of the first things she’d learned as a young girl.
It’s not wrong for this to be hard. That was a thought she had not had before, though when she thought on it, Allie supposed it made sense. It wasn’t as if she was able to simply forget the past several years of her life, but she could not wallow in it, could not live in memories. Even considering just living the way she had been was something she didn’t want to entertain. She shuddered to think of where she’d be now if Lucius had not asked that she move in – though she supposed he might have gotten rather insistent if she had not acquiesced so easily.
She smiled, a genuine one, though it was small. She nodded. “I think I can do that,” she said quietly. It seemed like she was taking a larger step into her future than she had originally anticipated and she counted back from 10 in her head before speaking again, wanting to ensure that she was calmer. “Take things slowly. I…” she bit her lip before continuing, trying to find the right words to convey what she was feeling without giving away too much. “I wouldn’t mind a repeat of what we did last night,” she said, her eye twinkling as she ran her hand through her hair and pushed it over one shoulder.
When Gideon asked her to promise him something, Allie had to stop herself from tensing. She’d learned in the previous weeks that promises could be broken easier than one thought, with little warning or recourse. But she took the time to listen to him and she nodded, slowly. “I can promise not to shut down on you,” she said. “Though I can’t promise there won’t be times I’ll want to be by myself. The moods seem to…well, things tend to come and go.” Her lips turned up at the corners and she offered a shrug. She knew that she would still be grieving for awhile, that she would likely have days where she didn’t want to even so much as get out of bed. But that was her new normal.
And she was willing to try for more.
Tumblr media
Seeing that smile was all that Gideon needed in this moment to know it was going to be okay. It wasn't the fake, polite smile she had been wearing all morning. The smile he was sure her mother or someone else had taught her to wear in company. Gideon wasn't stupid, he knew how things worked and with that came the knowledge that Allie had been trained to do everything but what he was asking of her. He wanted her to be honest with her, even if the emotions were not great ones, and Gideon wasn't sure if that was something she could actually do. But that smile told him otherwise. It was genuine and though it would be work it gave Gideon hope that maybe someday she could truly be open to him.
As Allie mentioned the night previous Gideon couldn't help but smile himself, "Well you can have that repeat whenever you'd like. We can take that slowly as well, I'd love to take my time on you". Last night had been fast, a blur of clothes and skin, they'd been too caught up in the moment running on adrenaline and a shared attraction. Now that they knew where their feelings stood and it was agreed last night was not a one time thing Gideon knew the next time would be different. He wasn't necessarily running on borrowed time.
Listening as she accepted his conditions and added her own Gideon felt relieved in knowing she knew exactly where he stood. He was in this for the long haul, or well whatever haul this timeline would bring whether it was one more night or one more year. He cared about her feelings and overall well being and that meant knowing what she was going through. "I can handle that" he promised, giving her knee one last squeeze of confirmation. "I'm not a super needy person, I can handle you not wanting to see me every day. I get it, I'm kind of bulky and annoying" a goofy smirk overtook the gentle smile he had carefully placed while listening to her, "Though I can't promise I'll afford you the same luxury" he warned, giving her thigh a gentle pat, his tone taking that of someone teasing, as he leaned in closer to Allie. "Something tells me that if it were up to me, you'd never leave my sight" and with that he closed the distance allowing himself to kiss her once more.

Eliza couldn’t say she was surprised when Gideon offered his help and yet her mouth still fell open as though she were slightly in shock. The fact that he’d even want to help brought back those damn butterflies that she’d been trying so hard to suppress earlier. There was obviously no way she could say no though; truly, they needed the help. They were understaffed and Eliza wouldn’t mind having someone to help her out for the rest of the day. Besides, they were only friends. Despite the butterflies in her stomach, Eliza was convinced that it would be fun no matter how hard her feelings tried to convince her otherwise.
“I’d love the help!” she exclaimed, quickly ushering him along. “Thank you so much for volunteering. You’d think more people would sign up for this sort of event but it seems as though parents were too busy with their own children today.” Her smile gleamed in the sunlight as she led him back over to the booth. Putting her hands on her hips, she looked up at him and then back at the eggs. “So, we basically need to load everything into baskets and find their hiding homes. You up to the task?”
A laugh escaped her at his words. “Well, while my family is not quite as large, I would say that I hid eggs very well for my younger brother,” she countered. “Took him a whole two hours to find all of them one year.” As if exceptionally proud of this statement, Eliza puffed out her chest, crossing her arms over it.
Tumblr media
There was no reason why Gideon Prewett would not want to help with the egg hunt. If they were short staffed then they needed the hands and his errands could be run in the next few days. Nothing was so dire that it couldn’t wait a day or two if needed. Besides it’d be an excuse to leave the gym early this week because how could Fabian deny him trying to get together an Easter suprise for their favorite nephews?
“Load everything into baskets and put them into their hiding homes. Aye Aye Captain” Gideon teased with a salute as he picked up one of the baskets and began to fill it with the eggs Eliza had previously prepared. “Two hours?” Gideon asked, raising an eyebrow, “Oh that’s nothing. It took Bill a week, two years ago, to find the last of the eggs. At that point his mother asked me to be nicer and hide them in more appropriate places for a six year old but it was still a victory” he couldn’t help but smile at the memory. Maybe hiding eggs in trees his height wasn’t the nicest thing, but it had led to a funny result. “I didn’t know you had a brother though” Gideon smiled, “I thought you were an only child” not that he and Eliza had deep conversations on the regular but they had enough conversations by now that he was surprised it hadn’t come up.
As he began hiding some of the eggs in the adjoining park Gideon glanced over his shoulder, “Tell you what. Why don’t you hide the yellow eggs? And I’ll hide the blue. If my eggs are found last, you have to come to muggle London with me to go shopping for my nephews. If your eggs are found last, then I’ll buy you dinner” Gideon told her, pausing for a beat before adding, “As friends of course”. It didn’t need to be said but Gideon still felt the need to clarify. He was seeing Allie, they were taking things slow, and while he definitely cared about Eliza, he also cared deeply about Allie and wanted to make things work between them because he valued their relationship. Gideon didn’t want there to be any confusion on his feelings or intentions, he was not the type of man who spared clarity for the sake of brevity.

ar-goddessofthunder:
Something similar to disappointment settled heavy in her stomach as he turned to leave. Alessandra bit her lip and closed her eyes for a moment, pushing down any misplaced emotion for the time being. Why was she getting so emotional about this anyway? It hardly made sense. She shook her head, opening her eyes as she heard him moving back closer to where she sat. Allie’s brow furrowed again as she wondered what exactly Gideon wanted.
Her lips parted slightly as his hand moved to cup her cheek and Allie found that her eyes were locked onto his as she leaned into his touch. She took a breath as he kissed her and when he pulled away, Allie’s hand had twisted in his shirt. She exhaled heavily as he apologized and she shook her head. “No, don’t. Please don’t. You don’t need to apologize.”
And he didn’t. If anything, Gideon’s kiss at least alleviated some of the confusion she’d been feeling, some of the apprehension that she’d been struggling to throw to the side. She inhaled again as she considered what to say.
“I’ve only slept with one other person in my entire life,” she told him carefully, quietly, her words precise and measured as her eyes averted from his. “It has been hard with him gone, for he was my entire life. My identity was greatly entrenched with his and…” Allie shook her head, aware she wasn’t getting to where she wanted to with this.
“I don’t want to be the person who spirals,” she finally said as she looked up. “I don’t want to go from being committed to one person to the person who has one night stands. Especially when I don’t want it to have been one either.” Alessandra let out a self-deprecating chuckle. “I don’t exactly know how this works, Gideon. It’s not as if I’ve had a plethora of experience or anyone to ask.”
Tumblr media
She didn’t slap him.
Not that someone like Allie Rowle would ever lay a finger on someone else but there was still relief flooding through Gideon’s body as she responded to his touch and allowed him to kiss her. It meant that his advances were not unwanted and that maybe he hadn’t been so crazy after all. Someone like her was hard to read but Gideon was glad that he had gone with his gut instinct.
Moving from in front of her to sitting next to her on the couch Gideon placed a gentle hand on her knee, not too much contact but enough to remind her that he was there. He was present. As she spoke about how before him her husband was the only man she had ever been with Gideon could feel a pit begin to grow in his stomach. That was why she was so weird. It made sense why she left his house so quickly and why she refused to open up to him about her true feelings today. It was devastating to think of the turmoil she must have been going through and Gideon couldn’t help but give her knee a comforting squeeze. It was okay, he was there.
Allowing her to finish speaking Gideon sat on her words for a moment, taking a second to digest and make sure what he said next was not only concise but also sympathetic to how Allie might have been feeling. “Allie, it’s not wrong for this to be hard” he started, keeping his eyes trained on her, “It’s going to be difficult, that’s part of the process. I wouldn’t expect anything else and that’s okay. I’m not here because I think any of this would be easy. I’m here because I care about you”.
It was true if he wanted the easy way out there were plenty of other girls he knew. He didn’t. There was something captivating about Allie that no other woman he had ever met encompassed. She was worth any trouble this would bring. “You don’t need to know how any of this works” Gideon promised, a small smile appearing on his face, “We’ll take it slow. See what happens. No pressure. Just take one day as it comes.” Gideon didn’t need Allie to be sure of what was happening between them as he wasn’t sure. All Gideon knew was that he enjoyed spending time with her and wanted to carry it on, everything else would come if it was supposed to. “There’s really nothing to know, we’ll just continue what we’ve been doing. Hang out, maybe do a little more of what we did last night-when you’re ready, and just relax. This shouldn’t be scary or daunting, this should just be fun” that was all they really needed. “But promise me one thing?” he asked, hesitating slightly, “That you won’t shut down on me? That’s all I’m going to ask of you, Allie, is that you don’t leave me in the dark with how you’re feeling. If it’s a bad day I want to know, if it’s a good day I want to know. I’m here for you, I just want you to give me the chance to show you that”.

ar-goddessofthunder:
The confusion continued to mount in Allie’s head. This was not a situation she had ever planned to be in and despite the fact that she was now technically a single woman, it was still strange to have these thoughts, to wonder if she should say something else, to wonder what was going on in another man’s head. She’d never needed to worry about what was going on in Thorfinn’s. But Gideon was not her [late] husband and she had no idea what was going on behind his eyes, what thoughts were whirring about in his head.
She took another sip of her coffee, needing something to do with her hands as she continued to think about what she should say. The quiet was off-putting and Allie found that it was not the type of silence she was used to with those that knew her well. It was not early as companionable as she might have liked and the young woman sucked in a shaky breath.
To be fair, Gideon didn’t know her well, at least not as well as her closest friends. While Lucius or Alina might have known something was wrong with her, she had not spent enough time with Gideon to expect him to know every single expression on her face, what her countenance meant at any given moment. She let out a soft breath as she considered that, as she realized that she was traversing through a conversation with someone who didn’t know her tells, who would not realize what a flick of her eyebrows or a twisting of her lips could mean.
As he spoke, she nodded, biting the inside of her cheek. “I’m going to be fine,” she repeated. That, at least, was true. Alessandra might be confused and she might feel unsure – both of him and of herself – but she would be fine, if not now then soon. Generally speaking, anyway. Her brow furrowed as he rose from the couch, her nose wrinkling slightly.
Allie was about to nod at his question about dinner when he continued and the line between her eyebrows deepened. What if she didn’t want it to be just as friends? Was she supposed to say that? Admit that? “Dinner sounds nice,” she finally eked out, her voice as poised as she could make it – which, admittedly, was nowhere near what it usually was. “The same goes for you.”
Tumblr media
Gideon had every intention to leave. He was not the kind of man who pushed his luck, especially with women. If she felt it was a one night stand then it was a one night stand, regardless of his feelings on the matter. If Allie wanted nothing else from this, then so be it. He had to respect that. But as he crossed the room to leave something felt so unresolved about leaving. He had just as many questions, maybe even more, than when he came and there was something nagging in the back of his brain not to go.
Maybe he was overthinking things again, but the look on her face was not one happy with the outcome of the situation. Maybe it was the hopeless romantic in him but it was if she didn’t want him to leave. No. She had said that it was a one night stand and he needed to respect that. He needed to leave. But the wrinkle on her nose, the line on her forehead. Those were expressions of confusion, not of resolution. Was she just as unsure as he about the whole situation?
Timing was never right but the truth was it would never be long enough since her husband had passed. There would never be a better opportunity and he was not a bad person for having feelings for her. Gideon didn’t see Allie as a Rowle, but instead as Alex Rodriguez the girl he met many years ago while at Hogwarts. There was always going to be some guilt associated with this but Gideon had to get over it, she was a person who deserved someone to care about her and he wasn’t a terrible person for wanting to be that person. Allie was worth it.
Letting go of the door knob Gideon turned around and crossed the room, stopping only when he reached Allie. He had to do this. He couldn’t just leave. Not like this. Not with so many questions. Not without telling her. Either this was going to go well or she was going to smack him. Either way he was going to have his questions answered. Leaning down, his hand cupped her cheek and after hesitating for a moment Gideon Prewett leaned in and kissed her.
After pulling away from the kiss Gideon could feel his heart threatening to jump into his throat. What had he done? “I’m sorry, Allie. I can’t just be your friend because I don’t want to just be your friend. I know there’s a lot going on right now and I’m sure this isn’t the best timing, but I can’t just walk through that door without telling you. I do care about you and last night wasn’t just a one night stand, not for me at least”.

ar-goddessofthunder:
Alessandra was not certain of what she expected Gideon to say. To agree with her, perhaps? To tell her that it wasn’t a one night stand? She was the one who had put the words out there and Allie knew that she should stand by them. She did not like being flimsy with her words, her thoughts, or their meaning. She took a sip of her coffee and tilted her head to the side. “Can I get you anything?” she asked him politely, needing another moment to figure out exactly what she wanted to communicate to Gideon, just what she was willing to divulge.
This was uncharted territory for Alessandra Rowle. She had never felt self-conscious around a man, had never wondered what one was thinking about her. And to be frank, she’d never had to since she’d been with Thorfinn since they were mere children. Sitting here, looking over at Gideon, after spending the night with him, wondering what he wanted from her, was a feeling she was unused to. Was she supposed to ask? Was she supposed to tell him the amount of confusion and uncertainty warring about in her mind?
“Of course I enjoy your company,” she said, the words coming out quicker than she had expected, a light flush rising in her cheekbones as she crossed her legs neatly at the ankles. She took another sip of her coffee as she sat there, multitudes of thought – feelings of confusion – running through her mind. “I wouldn’t have…been spending time with you if I did not.” It was honest, of course, though it gave no more insight than what she’d already divulged, at least she didn’t think so. She had never thought to separate sex from emotion and even now, she couldn’t say she felt nothing for Gideon. Emotionless sex was not something that Alessandra Rowle wanted to have, if she took the time to think about it.
Her lips quirked at the corners at his comment about the previous night being enjoyable. He wasn’t wrong in his assessment – Alessandra had enjoyed herself, more than she’d thought possible. It was the thoughts that came afterward that confused her, the feelings of guilt and of wondering why she didn’t truly regret anything she had done. “I…well, yes, I enjoyed it as well. I wouldn’t want you to have the impression that I did not.” She took another sip of the coffee before placing the cup back in its saucer, the porcelain only softly clanking together.
“You don’t need to worry,” she said softly as she pushed her hair over one shoulder. “I’m going to be just fine.”
Tumblr media
I’m going to be just fine. Then why did she seem anything but fine? This situation was growing more awkward by the second and Gideon was starting to regret coming to see her at all. He should have just given her space. He should have just let her be. She would have come to him eventually, or never again. He should have let things remain how they were. They had sex, which to Gideon wasn’t a big deal, and showing up today only seemed to add insult to injury.
This was not the first time Gideon Prewett had a one night stand. Not that they were an often thing in his world, but he was not opposed to meeting a girl at a bar and taking them home. Sex could be sex without emotions. You did your thing, they left your place, you sent a text message the next morning making sure things were cool, and when you saw them the next time at at a bar you said hello as if nothing had ever happened between the two of you. He had no qualms about never speaking about his hook ups after the night they occurred, but that was also when it was clear to him what had happened. Most girls he knew were very clear about their feelings on the matter and there was none of this awkward air but with Allie, though she said it was a one night stand, everything between them just seemed off. As if sex could maybe be the end of their friendship.
He could count on two hands the number of girls he had slept with before Allie. Seven total. Out of those there were only two actual girlfriends in the bunch. And out of the remaining only one had been a long term hook up. So four out of seven were girls that he had sex with once and never again. Two of the four were even clients of his, girls he continued to see on a regular basis with no repercussion. It was something that had happened and never to be spoken of again. All of his past hook ups had been enjoyable experiences, and not that this one had not, but it was definitely the most confusing of the bunch. It felt as if they were speaking two different languages and with every passing second were growing more frustrated with their failed attempts to communicate.
“Alright” Gideon finally spoke, “As long as you’re fine that’s what matters to me” he told her with a shrug of his broad shoulders, deciding to stop reading into the situation entirely. All he could do was take her words at face value and stop thinking too much into the look on her face or the tone of her voice. Maybe this wasn’t about him and he needed to just let it be. Maybe he was overreacting because of his fear of losing their friendship. Maybe he just needed to go.
“I better get back to the gym then. I just wanted to stop in and make sure you were okay, and if you’re fine then we’re all good” he told her rising from the couch, “Maybe we can get dinner next week?” Gideon asked, “As friends” he clarified quickly, not wanting to add to any confusion. Though it felt like he was just making plans that would never actually be fulfilled. “If you need anything you know where to find me”.

elizaspinnet:
“But not when I made the art,” Eliza said. “Only fair you allow me at least some of the proceeds, you know. Wouldn’t have had the masterpiece without the master. You’re welcome.” She curtsied, pretending to hold out a skirt that she wasn’t wearing. It was so easy to talk to him, to tease him, that sometimes she forgot how far she was going, or where they were, or what was even going on.
But then, the thought of the kids sitting at her booth came back to her and her eyes widened ever so slightly at his next words. She needed to get back soon, so she just nodded her head for him to follow her as she made her way over to the water fountain. Beginning to wash her hands, she rolled her eyes, a playful thing that caused a grin to escape her face.
“Ha, ha,” she teased, crossing her arms over her chest carefully, so that her hands didn’t get on her own shirt. “I was just helping out with the kiddos for the egg hunt. They like yellow a lot, it seems, but I mean, so do I…” She trailed off, shrugging a little at the thought. “Anyway, we just finished painting so I’ve got to hide the eggs now. We’ve got chicks to put in some of them. And I’ve still got to put a few flowers into a couple… They love the flowers. Especially daisies. They get so excited when the egg opens and it’s a flower inside.” Eliza mimicked the small surprise of a child pretending to open the egg as she spoke, eyes widening and lighting up instantly. “Makes my day.”
Clearing her throat, she wiped her wet hands on her jeans, an old pair that she didn’t quite mind getting dirty. “What about you?” she asked.

Listening to Eliza talk about the egg hunt and the children Gideon could feel his heart jump in his chest. For a big brawny man there was nothing that could make Gideon Prewett melt faster than children. He loved kids more than he liked most people and it was something that he and Eliza had bonded over. In a world where it was deemed acceptable or “cool” to not like children it was nice to know he wasn’t the only one felt kids were the best thing.
Honestly with the new legislation he would be lying that the thought of adoption hadn’t crossed his mind. He was a single dude with no plans to settle down with a family any time soon, but he was also a pureblood. With his blood alone, and the influx of children now coming into the wizarding world, it wouldn’t be difficult to adopt one of his own. However, the thought that a good portion of these children were being forced away from their families and that their blood status would be changed was enough to make him turn his head at the chance. No matter how badly he wanted a kid of his own, there was no way he could support such legislation nor the blatant bleaching of heritage.
“Need help?” Gideon asked automatically, knowing that though he was on a mission to find things for Easter it could wait. “I was about go to into muggle London for a few things for Easter for the kids, but it can wait” Gideon explained, “It’s the least I can do for your one of a kind painting” he teased reaching out to give her forearm a gentle squeeze. “Besides I’m the reigning egg hiding champion, not to brag but during family egg hunts my eggs are always found last. It’s a true gift”

It’s hard to do food canons for Gid because he literally eats nothing like y’all know. So Gid is one of those “my body is a temple” type gym rats who turns his nose up at processed sugars, alcohol, grains, dairy, and pretty much anything worth eating. He’s on a strict organic vegetable and meat diet, with fruit for what he calls his “dessert”. He doesn’t drink. Every once in a while to celebrate he’ll have something but the next day he feels sick. Gid’s literally no fun to go out to dinner with because he takes forty minutes to quiz the waiter and then order a steak with broccoli (no butter or salt on that broccoli though thanks), so he does a lot of cooking at home. His diet has forced him to be a good cook.

Gid’s not the type to really hate anything. The closest thing is probably olives. He can’t stand olives and will literally leave the room if someone is serving them at a party. The smell, the taste, how they look. All of it just grosses him out. It’s actually really funny considering he’s this huge guy and all it takes is to show him an olive to get him to run away like a coward.

Send ☠ for a death headcanon.
Okay first off, HOW DARE YOU.
Anyway,
I guess this is my author’s note but because SR is AU I don’t actually know if I want Gideon to die or not. Like canonically he does die, but this is AU and like if I let everything happen in canon then literally all of my characters would be dead. So take everything with a grain of salt.
So back to the actual headcanon.
If Gideon was to actually die I really think the way it happened in canon is a fitting way for him to die: alongside his brother, fighting for what he believes in. The most important things to Gideon are his family and the cause and going out in a blazing glory like that would be the best death he could imagine. The only hard part would be the fact that I don’t think Gideon would want Fabian to die alongside him. He would realize what was happening, urge his brother to leave, and when his brother refused I think it would take all of Gideon’s strength to accept that. However the fact that they went out together and took a bunch of Death Eaters with him would bring Gideon peace.

ar-goddessofthunder:
Allie let out a breath as Gideon entered her loft and she closed the door before she moved to sit on the couch, her countenance as normal as she could make it in the moment. She wanted to put on the face she often wore for the world, the placidity that could fool even the best of them. But after the night before, Alessandra knew that she couldn’t do such a thing, not entirely. No matter what she felt, or thought, the only thing that kept reverberating in her head was the memory of what had happened the night before. The memory that she had slept with someone who was not her husband, that she would never sleep with her husband again.
She also had to live with the realization that she didn’t regret it. But Allie did not want to share that just yet, not when she already felt more vulnerable and exposed to the man in her home than she had felt with anyone before. It was not a feeling that Allie liked, was not one she relished, and she took a deep breath in hopes of keeping that feeling to a minimum. She had bared quite enough of herself to Gideon Prewett and Alessandra was not sure that she was ready to bare her soul.
She waited for Gideon to speak, his words washing over her. A raised eyebrow at his comment about being in the neighborhood made way for amusement, making her lips twitch at the corners as he explained that he had needed to see her. “Thank you for lunch,” she murmured softly as she gestured to the sofa and the coffee table. “I haven’t put a dining table in and likely won’t until Lucius puts in my kitchen.” Her lips twitched again as she turned back toward him, letting out a breath. “I only got up just a couple of hours ago.” It was a late waking for her; Allie had always been more of a morning person, had not liked to sleep the entire day away and now that she was feeling more like herself, some of her older habits had returned.
“I appreciate your concern,” she said, not unkindly as Gideon mentioned that he wanted to see if she was okay. Her voice was lighter than she felt, though Allie had always been able to speak in a way that belied her true feelings. Truth be told, she was confused as to why Gideon was there in the first place. Yes, they’d slept together. But she hadn’t gotten any indication that he had wanted a repeat, or that he thought it was more than it was.
“I have handled just about everything life has thrown at me.” And that was true. She’d handled her engagement to Thorfinn, had handled a betrothal with ease even though she could have held out for something more, had been a good wife to him, had carried his name with grace. She had also handled his death with more dignity than she’d thought possible, though she assumed there were those who gossiped about her living in Lucius’ home, just as they’d gossiped as he’d been by her side through the funeral. She sucked in a breath. “I think I can handle a one night stand just fine when compared to everything else.”
Maybe she should have asked Lucius how these things went.
The smile was brittle and she took another breath. “You’ve nothing to feel bad for. I’m fine and I’ll continue to be fine. It doesn’t need to change anything.”

Gideon sat where she indicated knowing it was in his favor to listen to a woman like Alessandra. He knew plenty of girls like her. Pureblood, beautiful, scary. They carried handbags worth more than most people’s rent but could kill you with a stare. Alessandra was unlike most of them because she had a brain better than ten of her comrades combined. She was smart and probably better with a wand than he could ever dream of being. It was in his favor to be polite and do as she asked.
Watching as she rattled on about how she had a hold on everything Gideon started to believe her less and less. If she was so well handled then why did she feel the need to tell him? It seemed more like she was convincing herself than him, but Gideon still did not say a word. As much as Allie wanted to pretend, Gideon knew there was more going on in that mind than she let on. If she wanted to talk she would talk but if she felt the need to keep it to herself, he wouldn’t push. It had been their deal all along and Gideon was not about to change the terms because of last night.
“A one night stand? You wound me, Allie” Gideon teased, finally speaking, “And here I thought you actually enjoyed my company”. It was a joke though it brought Gideon some relief. If a one night stand was what she wanted, he was more content being just that. He didn’t expect anything out of it, but it was good that she had defined last night before he had to ask. It was good to know that they could be clear about the situation.
Shrugging his broad shoulders, Gideon shook his head. “I don’t feel bad about last night” he told her, his tone taking a hint of seriousness, “I enjoyed last night. What we did was enjoyable. You seemed to enjoy last night, or at least it sounded that way” he couldn’t help but throw in that comment before leaning forward to pull the food he had brought her out of the bag. “I’m not here because I feel like the fact we had sex needs to change everything. It doesn’t. Sex is sex, we were fine before it and there’s no reason to not be fine now. I’m here because you’re my friend and as much of a handle as you have on everything, I still worry”
